Atomic Highway is neat, at least from reading I have yet to have the change to play it.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
Also look at modern tv and movies. You might notice most characters of either gender tend to be put in situations to show off hotness weather or not it fits the character. And the mechanic who is a hot chick is a totally common trope. to use that specific example someone mentioned. This also happen frequently in novels., comics, video games etc, why would mushes be any different?
After all the main purpose of Wiki's is rp plumage, through hooks and other character connections but lets not pretend looks do not matter to humans numerous studies have shown that people respond in different ways to people based on looks and I am sure we could all cite a ton of anecdotal evidence to that as well. -
RE: Star Trek games?
Thirty is not really old for normal people but depending on that persons job in Star Fleet it could be. After all 30 is an age where top end athletes tend to begin to have drops offs especially NFL running backs.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
I tend to go with played by pics that fit the character. For example when i used an actor for a business man I only used pictures of him in a suit. Later when I used the same actor on a different game for a mechanic character I used pics from a war movie since the grubby uniform looked mechanic-y if I picked ones where rank insignia wasn't showing. So I see no problem with the scantily glad pics if it fits that character.

RE: [Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?
@Three-Eyed-Crow Way off topic but to answer your question, yes some people do stop after the second one. I did. When I first heard about the series one and two were the only books out since they were highly recommended by someone who I usually agree with I got hem both. Read and enjoyed them both, but had to wait for the third to come out but the time it did I realized I was going to by it more to complete the series then actual enjoyment so I stopped.

RE: What is your God-Machine
Deciding not to implement something is a valid answer to how would you implement something. To use your ice cream analogy, the question could be what flavor of ice cream do you want? None, thanks. See perfectly valid answer.

RE: What is your God-Machine
I would agree with Raptor if I ran an NWoD 2.0 tabletop I would scrap the whole god machine concept completely. Just not my cup of tea. Much like when I ran NWoD Mage table top I excised any mention of Atlantis.
Honestly I think the basic God Machine as driving plot force is why I am so meh about the second round of NWoD.
I don't think ist is a bad idea just one I find to be almost the platonic ideal of uninteresting. -
RE: [Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?
My view on racism is like most things, I take full responsibility for anything I may do. the actions of anyone else, including my ancestors, which in the case of American slavery is nil, and the various other historical slavery systems likely also nil though given lack of reliable records who can be positive, is to not care.
I will freely apologize for anything I may have done but anyone anyone else has well you get nothing form me.
On a long enough timeline every people has dicked over another one, keeping score for any period of time longer then a life time leads to nothing but the Balkans. -
RE: [Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?
Fairly recently immigrated on all sides, as in 20th century so not as mixed as many Americans, 5/8ths German a Quarter Irish, and an 1/8th Czech .
Though that is discounting any of the various mixing that happened everywhere in Europe for basically ever, but without some expensive DNA testing that is the basics. -
RE: Brainstorm Me: City-Level Chess
Not sure on the exact reasoning of it for this game but if you told me to pick a trad that would would go rouge on it's own,my guess would be the Hermetics. Both for the IC Reason that when they had the power the alienated everyone else, see Ars Magica which while WW had the license for it in OWoD was considered cannon history, and the general Rule or ruin they have towards the Council of Nine in a lot of places in the cannon. And for the OOC reason that with the various jockeying of houses you have enough internal divisions they can easily bee seen as a third set of groups on their own rather then a solo spin off. While none of the Traditions are really all that monolithic Hermetics do have the most active internal factions that are likely to still stay together as a single group. Most trads if they left the council would disintegrate into a dozen similar but separate craft s in fairly short order.
As to why to split one off I would think three cornered politics would tend to keep things more likely to stay in the uneasy alliance stage of things that ES wants easier then just Technos and Trads. -
RE: Comics Stuff
I can't wait ot see it. Taking half a day off on Tuesday to go see it for $5 at the theater downtown. Only thing better then an awesome movie is playing hokey from work to see an awesome movie.

RE: Comics Stuff
And even discounting Az-Bat. Batman does have a tendency to get armored a lot in non-continuity things, see Batman Vs Predator, Return of the Darknight, and Kingdom Come.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
When I see heh, I tend to read it as the other person knows I was attempting humor but didn't really find it funny.
And then Hah as mild amusement and up from there.
I think the most annoying thing to me with heh is the only person I have known that used it in real life was a college roommate I never got along with. -
RE: Kushiel's Debut
I can definitely second the recommendation against playing commoner characters. I played one and while it was fun and in general I liked the game and the people there. It was an uphill climb to be active and get involved. I know that was the major reason I ended up drifting away when RL got busy. Though in general I thought it was a very positive place to play and I enjoyed it.

RE: Werewolf 2.0 & Nine Ways It Could Be Streamlined
So things being done badly on a mush is only a reason to get rid of something if you don't like it? Gotcha. You know you could save everyone time by just admitting you ditched what you didn't like. there is nothing wrong with that. But when you keep using argument like people do it wrong anyway but that have that only apply to things you want it to it just looks sloppy.
-
RE: Werewolf 2.0 & Nine Ways It Could Be Streamlined
Ok now I have a question, you mentioned before one of the reason to get rid of the Shadow is that few people in your mind do it right.
But then you play up the theme of the primal horror of shape shifting which granted is in the books but I have never seen touched on a mush except for first change/ becoming plots. So wouldn't by your own arguments mean that should be cut as well? -
RE: W20 Game Concept
In OWoD you have septs which are multiple pack units that operate out of the same caern, (similar to loci in NWoD) so you already have a reason for some assistance.
And the Ahadi-style mentioned by Tree in the beginning is a think from OWoD Africa which was basically a loose alliance of all Gaian shifters. There is some politics involved but still the basic idea of it is for them to work together, the lines ended really before giving a firm meta plot answer weather it worked or not but I do think it would be a neat thing to try. I don't think I have heard of a mush trying it.
Question for Tree, would you plan to include various non-Garou in the game as well? Use of the term Ahadi implies but I don't want to assume. -
RE: Consent-based games
Even on full non-consent games, you still have some say just follow the rules to a tee. For example somebody wants to do something creepy the squicks you and won't accept anything else, pretty much every game i have ever seen with mechanics has had the caveat that you can have staff present to handle rules things. Pretty much when things break down say I want staff to handle the rules for this scene. It is completely in line with non-consent but will get the person to leave and find easier prey every time I have tried it. Usually staff is way overworked and no one wants to stick around waiting for them to be able to judge the scene.
It also takes away the OOC power trip aspect because you are effectively taking the power from them and putting i into a third party.
