@Misadventure
I never said all no where my first post on this topic was the most one.
You were the one who stated the absolute about not playing under bad staff. I just questioned then where were the option to play?
As far as position of bad staff to good staff I would say it is about the same 40 bad to 60 good roughly that all humanity has in my general observance.
though I would consider any Storyteller staff or not who thinks killing a non played character adds anything to the story, at best it is the same tactic far too many hack writers use to show how the plot is serious by raising a body count. So yes if a idled out PC is killed it is do to OOC malice or the misguided idea that a meaningless body count makes a plot important

@Misadventure
While I will cede the point that killing a gone character might not be done out of spite. I have no doubt the vast majority of them are for that reason.
Also with your logic of don't play under bad staff, give me an example of one game from any genre at any point in the history of this hobby that has not had at least one bad staffer?
So you are saying no one should play anywhere?With the possible exception of Eldritch which I have heard nothing bad about the staff there., Sadly they just offer nothing I am in the mood to play.

RE: Anyone want to ST for Changeling?
What is the current size of the game. I do prefer smaller games in general but am on far too many less then 10 player a night games, it is that size small or 30 a night small?

@HelloRaptor
I know this may make me a horrible person but I loves me some Dex Starr, sadly he is one of the few things that I wound entertaining about the whole 7 corps stuff.
But then again I also like Beppo the supermonkey and anything else that focuses on the fact comics should be fun. -
RE: Storytelling
I kind of side with Jay on this. While I like the information being more accessible I know it has cut down on rp.
For example if I am playing an underling and reporting to my boss, in the past with that not available i would actually rp out the report, now I would ooc message along the line of I report about this. Mostly I think the change is due to schedules since in college I was on most nights and it seemed like everyone else was too. Now it takes a lot of effort to coordinate schedules for scenes so while the reporting done in person icly but oocly handled by mail gets more appealing.I have noticed a shift in my behavior though in the early days of my mushing career if I saw a news board post about something my char would be interested in I would put in jobs check rumors try to get involved, now 9 times out of 10 I will just figure, Oh that is someones prp not my business and move on.

I briefly glanced at he website. It seemed it was charged by the hour.
I like hugs as much and the next person but think it is kind of creepy. -
RE: Storytelling
@Arkandel
I think I now see why we have such different tastes. Most Action plot scenes even the fun ones then to be the type of things my chars never talk about latter usually cause it would mean revealing that they are in the know. -

The job of every corporation is to maximize profits. In fact in the US they are legally required to or can be sued by their own shareholders. So yes if Canada had no price controls US consumers would be charged the same, just likely that Canadians would be getting the higher prices as well. -

As an American who still can't afford health insurance, I would take the trade of of a finite but long wait to the current state of unless i see a bone I don't get to see a doctor.

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
the coded system thing makes me think anyplace using Faraday's system would count for that. Combat is truly automated, you type in the command to attack and the game handles the result and spits out where you were hit and the severity of the resulting wound. Though I am not sure death is possible through the automation I know it has happened at places using it.

RE: WoD MUSH Comparison?
Since it hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread.
Sheltering Sky, it is a successor game to Metro set in Colorado, on the plus side staff is active and running things and there is grid rp happening, about 20 to 30 chars logged in most nights.
The cons are a lot of people had issues with the staff at metro and it is a lot of the same people. I know that has been a deal breaker with a couple of the people I tried to recruit. -
RE: Comics Stuff
Also it has been shown in story lines most notably by Kurt Busiek in the Avengers with his Hunt For She Hulk it showed how strong she can get when completely losing her shit, including fighting Hulk to a virtual stand still.

@Coin
See I love the crisis thing because while it reboots continuity it also harkens back to it.
All the silver age Justice League Justice Society team ups we titles Crisis something, or Something Crisis. that is why DC titles Crisis on Infinite Earths that. It was the final time you would have both a Justice League and a Society, now it in no way worked out that way in hind sight but it was the original plan. -
RE: Comics Stuff
@Roz
I am with you there. The constant events is most of why I stopped reading new comics. The lost all sense of actual storytelling to me. Instead of building up a world it was major event after major event till I realized I had stopped caring about any of it. I never minded cross overs, hell some of my favorite stories were crossovers but Marvel went way overboard, -
RE: Nixon's back!
I do miss Wora for the pure entertainment value though.
I will acknowledge this place is likely more constructive and productive but I misses mah stories. -
RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
nods to Raptor and the Bird
I agree completely ,and usually counter with the quote from Alexander Stephens' Cornerstone Speech after he was sworn in as Confederate VP to prove it.
"Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition."Yeah nothing at all about race in that. Dumb asses.
As someone who has been having this argument for years it always makes me want to go Red Foreman on someone. -
RE: The Unfindable Flag
@Sunny
When you put it like that i agree completely, I would much rather never use the damn flag and never start out with it on anyplace, but alas it is an imperfect world and the flag is a imperfect solution but to me the one that creates the least drama and lets me get back to the whole point of the endeavor having fun and providing fun for others. -
RE: The Unfindable Flag
I have to disagree with Sunny here. As a player my responsibility is to not break the rules and provide fun for those I RP with.
Just like at a table top as a player it is my job to show up participate and not cheat.
It is not even about staff trust to me, it is about the most expedient way to deal with the situation. Lets look at the situation I am rping with Person X and person Y decides to page about. The way I look at it ,I have three options,
Option A I report it to staff, at best staff tells this person to behave, since no one myself included think this is ban worthy. Said person being human then likely complains to friends, drama level in general increases. Not seeing how this is good for the game in fact as drama increased it is likely worse for the game.
Option B I page back telling the Person Y to go fuck themselves, not in those exact words but the polite version of, person y most likely gets offended I could easily be on the receiving in of a complaint and wither way drama in general increases. Again not good but bad option.
Option C I ignore it and next time I log on i set myself unfindable. No increase on drama I go have fun, person Y lives in ignorance and has fun. It might not make the game better but it does not make the game worse, to me this is the best of the three optionsI would play on a game where I could not set myself unfindable, I have in the past but then that leaves me with option D. Finish the scene compose a mail to the folks whose me leaving would effect and leave the game. Never telling staff or others the reason why.

RE: The Unfindable Flag
@Derp said:
Alright, here's an example: Player A and Player B are hanging out at the Waffle House. Player A and Player B are both set unfindable. A couple of people decide to get together for a scene at the waffle house, because the +where shows that there's nobody there that they'll be disturbing, or because they want a quiet scene. So Players C and D show up, only to find that, lo and behold, A and B are there already. So they made a plan, got together, and then had to change that plan because A and B are using commands to bypass the code that specifically tells them if there are people at a place. This is why I would require players in public, non-private build areas to remain findable at all times. An unfindable room will hide you if you have a private build going, you don't need to set yourself unfindable when in a public grid space.
This is why you could have a +hangouts code that says 2 folks in Waffle House and not give names, literally every MUSH I am on currently has that even the one with like ten players total.
As I said I the other thread I never start out unfindable at a place but will go to it if I get hassled. One page is not harassment nor something that would cause me to page lock but it will get me to start using the flag.
Also true story from my MUSH past. I had a male pc that was in a relationship, I was not set unfindable, I was running a solo plot for a character of opposite gender, my PC was not present in any way, there was nothing sexy about the plot it was pretty combat heavy about the government trying to kidnap a psychic. Said plot went about three session. As i was wrapping up the plot I start to get pages from the player of my chars IC GF because she keeps getting pages from other people about how my character is ICly cheating on her. She had done no who stalking or what ever but other "helpful" folks chummed the waters. Everything was settled after a way too long conversation but still that experience proved to me the benefit of the unfindable flag.
