Yeah, you guys. Putting limitations on fun-having are entirely against the idea of fun-having, and complaints against things you think are fun are never valid.

That was sarcasm. Because "anything you want" is an anathema to fun-having, a poison to it. We recognize the joy of Calvinball as the exception that proves the rule.

@Thenomain My only point was that you were being rude. You clearly have a lot more feelings about it than I do.

You did just as a good job about expressing it as I did about how my opinion, no matter how strongly I felt about it, wasn't important.

I'm usually amused at my own reaction to ANSI coloring.

I'm willing to bet other people aren't as amused as you are.

Did you have a point, or did you want to start a fight based on what might or might not be; there are people ahead of you in line for that. I mean, I know there are others who are amused, some of them are those that I gnash my teeth about ANSI color abuse to.

Believe me, I know what it's like to defend people you think are defenseless, but it's not helpful to start a slap-fight over it. Sometimes people do it specifically for the lulz or to not be helpful, but there's a name that the modern internet has for those people.

The purpose of my statement is to give people the go-ahead to ignore me for having purely personal views. I can pull out the design philosophy as why I hold those views, so my opinions do have some backup, but I'm also aware when my opinions are stick-up-ass pretentious like they were there.

      @Apu

She is fine. Aches and bruises, maybe sprained her pinky, the usual shoulder aching you get after a bad crash. She went to the clinic immediately and got x-rayed to make sure.

If you can even throw $5 at it, that would be fantastic. Not to get too NPR about it, but if you've wanted to thank Cobalt for her work and games, or even if you wanted to thank me, $5 to this would be a fantastic way to do it. I don't take money for the hobby because I feel that would be selfish. I'm not doing anything amazing, and I'm doing it for my own fun as well as the fun of those around me.

Cobalt's been changing her life. This is getting in her way. I'll offer my services to get it out of her way. That's my pitch.

      Thanks.

    • Tales of Cobalt-Colored Woe

This post is one part for people who want to know what's up with with our intrepid little Mu*-Coder-turned-Going-To-School-For-Real, one part hat-in-hand.

Okay, so, here I am. A few days ago, I get a Skype from Cobalt that she was in a bad accident that she was told to be lucky to walk away from, that her car was sheered in half, things like that. I've seen one or two bad accidents, but then she mentions she has a GoFundMe for getting a new car, and I looked at it, and...well, just go look at it.

      https://www.gofundme.com/ashleys-new-car-fund

To say that Cobalt has been working hard to go to school and stay in school is an understatement. It's not really my place to spell out all the details, but this is not the first setback she's had, and she is working hard to better her life, sure as hell harder than I am. Even though I've never met her, I consider Cobalt to be a close friend, and so on her behalf, and with her permission, I'm asking for help.

      Thanks.

edit: If it helps, Cobalt created the "events" system for Mushes. It might not help, but it might!

Well, I'm hoping that the press get their heads out of their asses and return to the era fact-checking and contextualizing. I don't believe they're dirty liars, but their reporting has a huge impact on what people see and know.

"Why didn't these people vote?" he asked.

      Who said they didn't?

Exactly. They took the time to travel to DC (and all the other cities), stand forever, and march to protest. Almost certainly they took 10 minutes to go vote. But saying they didn't - based on no facts whatsoever - is a good way to make them not count.

Which is a thing that bugs me: Voting is not the only way to be heard. Being heard is another way to be heard. Ignoring 175k people parked on your front lawn is pretentious at the very kindest.

I'd also accept a singing contest where the judges throw raw pork at the contestant if the audience loves them. The stakes couldn't be higher!!!!!!!!

Make it proper cuts of meat. Then the steaks couldn't be higher.

@mudrammer Thanks! At the suggestion of Arx's headwiz, I dropped this into a bug report for the coder.

You stand in a dark room and face a mirror, then repeat the name three times: @Griatch, @Griatch, @Griatch.

@mudrammer's last post, two above. I understand that telnet negotiations can be a pain in the patoot, but it sounds better to get you both together on this one directly.

I find that people can do this in life. How many times has someone been like: What student/person/employee/family member/kitten has done X? Then no one steps forward.
