@roz if someone isn’t interested, then they aren’t interested. What it looks like you’re saying is no one here is going to be interested. Not true.

RE: FOMO and MUSHing
I used to feel like I was really missing out on things. Then I was unemployed for a while and had time to Mu again. Well then I realized I wasn't really missing out on anything at all and I was just sitting at my PC hoping. Eventually I found another job and realized a few hours was really all I could stand anyway.

RE: ShadowRun 5E ... 2050
Oh god, I so can't wait for this so I can make a ninja bitch.

RE: Good TV
Insecure, might not be everybody's brand of humor, but I'm finding it hilarious.

RE: Armageddon MUD
@roz why are we comparing a Mud to a Mux? People tend to stay in character, but that doesn’t mean you can’t communicate ooc. In the very first post I linked a message board and a discord, so that you can see for yourself and not assume.

RE: Interactive GM'ing (Or how to make a dark theme actually dark)
@Misadventure said:
RL horror isn't always paralyzing. There are so many moments where people find themselves continuing down a path of action that they don't like, unable or unwilling to stop, yet horrified at the time, and scarred for life. This makes you an active, no matter how reluctant, participant in some aspect of the horror. People will question their ability to have chosen otherwise, or wonder at what is inside them (or all of humanity) for the rest of their lives.
I'm meaning more in the sense of:
<insert horrific situation here>
My character, readying weapon, shivering ever so slightly, beads of sweat forming (a standard description of being visibly shaken in horrific situation.)Tough badass woman character, decidedly NOT afraid, telling my character "Toughen up girly, it's showtime. Get your shit together."
Laconic, stereotypical badass dude going "grrrr, kill krites!"
Me oocly going wtf?!? There's something, really unnatural going down and everybody's going all Micheal Bay.
I've seen that happen a few times and always think it could've been a little more atmospheric if everybody wasn't acting like it was business as usual.

RE: Dead Celebrity Thread
Mariah Carey killing her career was an appropriate ending to 2016.

RE: Armageddon MUD
Usually when two sides disagree on something like this they say “we’re going to have to agree to disagree”.
I’m going to invoke that right now so that we don’t cause anymore temporary insanity.

RE: Spying on players
I wouldn't mind the spying if it was used like it was supposed to. That is to see what the players are doing and drop a plot on them. I think that adds a nice wrinkle to mundane RP. But we all know that's not what happens. Say several PCs are somewhere on the grid talking about something and you drop some nice atmospheric echos on them. That's a nice touch. Or people are sitting around not doing anything and you drop something nasty on them. But some people log out when a spontaneous staff run scene happens, then you're left with two or three people, from the five or six you originally had.
Anytime I staffed and decided to watch someone, I was immediately sorry. The things I have seen that my eyes cannot unsee...Staffing is a lot of power and so many people use it for the wrong reasons.

RE: International Music.
No Cafe Tecvba or Mana for Spanish rock? Whaaa?
Also kudos on Romeo Santos! I'm in love with Bachata. But that's what I get for marrying a Puerto Rican. Aventura is a sure bet too.
I'm in love with Childish Gambino right now.

RE: Seeking Women for Multi-Game Harem
@Luna Don't forget 15 and a lesbian too. Somebody should've drawn what one of those pcs would've looked like in real life.

RE: RL Anger
@surreality Oh believe me, I stared at it for a long time too. You're right, it is kind of surreal. I was waiting for....something, immense pain or lots of blood. Never happened, which is good, I chalked it up to shock. The crazy thing is when it happened it was a deep hole, now it's a dent with a scab and it still doesn't hurt. So I'l just count my blessings and if I start trembling or twitching, then I'll call up the doc!

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
Here's a thought; why not actually really attempt to bridge the gap by discussing some of the projects that are being worked on or cross post some of the actual discussions, that might actually interest the mu*ers here? By cross post, I mean copy and paste the whole thing, not here click this link.
I dunno, I feel like this really could've been a good thing and it went so wrong. It just seems like there's a lot of tuning out and bad communication happening. I really feel like I'm watching a train wreck in super slow motion.
Maybe delete this shit, take a minute to rethink your strategy and come back? It really does feel like this is a "come over here and check out our site" thread. Which even if it IS allowed, it's kind of wrong...but that's my opinion. Meanwhile, people here are telling you why your site isn't working for them and....
Look, I don't want to sound like I'm bagging on you. But sometimes taking a step back and reassessing is a good thing.
P.S.
Harshlands wasn't the first RPI, Armageddon was. -
RE: Scenes You Have Always Wanted to Have...
I've always wanted to roll up a necromancer and go into a tavern and do the Thriller dance with a team of zombies behind me.

RE: Good Comics for People Who Don't Like Comics?
I mostly pick up graphic novels these days.
Fable is good. It's got a little bit of everything in it, including nods to literature.
100 Bullets is good if you like gritty crime/conspiracy stuff.
And when I go dark, I go dark: Harrow County and Colder are must reads.

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
@Jaunt I'm just saying the average RPI has about 20-25 players, some less. Many of which actually are idle or sitting at a tavern or pretty much unfindable in some way (you know what I mean there).
I'm sure a few people will pay to play....but well, good luck with that.

RE: How did you discover text-based gaming?
I think the mid-90s to about 2000 could be considered the golden age of Mu*. There were hundreds to choose from and not all of them were good. Obviously mmorpgs funneled a large amount of new players from mu*s, but things like Reddit and hipster "retro" love are bringing in new players again.
