    • RE: Dead Celebrities 2019

While this type of high profile death is naturally surrounded by politics, can we keep the actual political talk to the appropriate section of the forum?

If others are not allowed opinions on how you spend your money, which is fair, then you don't get to have opinions about how people spend money you give them. Once it leaves your hand (or how ever the funds are transferred), it's not your money anymore.

Sure, panhandling is a social issue that needs to be addressed. Giving or not giving to panhandlers doesn't determine your morals. Discarding panhandlers as simply making other people's lives worse makes you look like a twat. Sure, some folks panhandle professionally... so? Ignore them and move on with your life.

@Darren It makes me think it was only money he wanted, and he wasn't looking to spend it on food.

Or he was hoping for enough money to buy bread, or something, which can last more than one meal.

Every evening, at around dusk, I get to see hundreds (if not a thousand) bats fly south along the horizon and every morning just before dawn I get to see them all fly home.

I don't know why it gives me such a happy feeling, but it does. Also I want to play a Vampire again.

To extend on @Auspice's point a bit, we're also adults - at least the vast majority of us that would play on a MU. We can play children, sure, it's interesting to write from the perspective of a child rather than an adult in certain instances.

When we TS, we're essentially writing porn. And that's fine, when both participants are adults and are presenting as adults. When you throw under age presentations into the mix, especially if you're combining an underage character with an adult? That's just... messy, to put it mildly.

@Ghost Before we get into this, let me reiterate something to make sure my most important point is made abundantly clear. I detest the idea of simulated child sexual interactions. I detest the idea of adults playing children engaged in sexual activity with other adults - regardless as to whether those adults are playing adults or children.

So we can absolutely agree, wholeheartedly, that it's creepy as fuck.

That out of the way, paedophilia is as you have stated defined as involving pre-pubertal children. Not other adults. So, assuming that all players involved are adults or that there is a reasonable expectation that all players involved are adults, it's not paedophilia. It's a weird fuckin' thing, but it's not paedophilia. Just as rape fantasies, that also happen all the time on sex games as well as in real life, don't mean the fantasiser is a rapist or potential rapist.

Secondly, my main problem with this entire conversation - especially your parts of it - is that it is bluster. If you want to do something about it, like reporting it to law enforcement, or internet watchdogs, or whomever... do so. We're not the MUing police. Not by a long fuckin' shot. We don't have authority, or impact, or influence enough to just decide "Okay, MUing is banning this thing now."

Thirdly, this entire conversation needs to stop. You need to go take a break, write emails or call who you need to call, because us chatting about it isn't going to change anything. Literally ever.

I've largely found MUSHes to be far more progressive when it comes to gender/sexuality politics than when it comes to race.

If you say so. I've found that people's progressive attitudes toward my gender and sexuality directly correlate to how much they can fap to them, which I guess is better than a lot of reactions but is still pretty creepy.

This is the perk of being pansexual. People mistake me for woke because I'll fap to anything.

This is the perk of being bisexual. People don't know we fuckin' exist.

ETA: Why do I call myself gay then, you ask? Because fuck you, that's why.

But what gets them every time is that it's command line based. The moment I tell them you have to type in commands "like a DOS prompt"

      Then stop telling them that.

Tell them it's like a chatroom. It's far more like a chat room than a command line.

    • RE: GMs and Players

Every single occurrence of an abuse complaint will be handled uniquely by anyone that handles it. Who it comes from, who it is against, what the impact will be, what evidence is given, what 'testimony' is gathered. All of this will make each complaint new and fresh and will cause the resolution to deviate slightly from whatever policy is laid out. No policy is going to be one hundred per cent iron clad against all situations, nor should it try to be.

I will ban anyone an accuser says is just as myopic and, frankly, farcical as never investigating or listening to any report.

When studying history, there are levels of sources. I imagine the same extends to the legal and other communities as well. All that is being said, from what I can parse through the emotional knee-jerking, is that evidence from outside the game is treated below evidence from the game. It's still evidence, but it is not sufficient on its own.
