    • RE: GMs and Players

@gremlinsarevil said in GMs and Players:

But staff breaking out the Vampire Prince to go have sexy times with a specific player or whatever else... that's gonna make a lot of people uncomfortable and best just avoided.

Especially if/when other staff use that same NPC.

Your PC is yours. Do whatever you want with it. NPCs are the game's, not yours.

Adam Driver, on the other hand, seems like a genuinely wonderful person.

    • RE: NOLA 2: Back in the Vieux

I think in cases where a term or phrase is acceptable for one group to use but not for another, that term or phrase should be avoided - especially in places where one cannot opt out of being exposed to it, like in character descriptions. RP is another matter.

For instance, I call myself a fag/faggot quite frequently. But I would be rightly lambasted for describing a character of mine as a 'twinky little faggot'. There's no real way of proving those using the term for reclamation purposes, and those using the term to cause harm or get a rise out of the audience.

    • RE: Let's talk about TS.

If the idea contains the words "Like Tinder" "just like in Kerbal Space Program" or "on an episode of Voyager" they are bad ideas.

    • RE: Vampyr

I do love some of the comments on Reddit saying things like "the rain shouldn't be happening all the time, like it just feels like one super long night it's not realistic."

Clearly they've never actually lived in London.

ETA: If I ever make my planned Victorian pseudo-London Vampire game, it's going to have a weather system that just emits various intensities of rain at all times.

    • RE: Is Min/Max a bad thing?

@insomniac7809 Yeah, unfortunately difficult on games that try to do all the things. I'm like... the anti-min/maxer. I have the attention span of a gnat drowning in a vodka & redbull. I want to do the social and the political and the thinky thinky and sometimes the fighty and I want to do it all but ooh there's this merit that sounds really neat even if it never comes up in play and then there's like eighty specialties I could buy for my skills...

      It's a thing.

    • RE: RL Anger

This isn't anger so much as... sadness, I suppose.
My senior students are off to study hard and prepare for their school-leaving exams now. (School here ends in December, rather than the American times.)

Year after year I see entire cadres of students depart for futures unknown, and I do my best to help prepare them for those unknowable futures. But it's sad every time. I never want it to not be sad, for I fear if that happens then my passion for my vocation will have evaporated. But all the same, sadness is hard.

If what @Roz says is true, then both participants should be punished.

@ganymede Acceptable alliteration almost always arrives adroitly administered, and appealingly appraised, as an artistic attempt. Alternatively, anti-alliteration addicts are abhorred at any alliterative achievement, and assay assertively argue against any alliterative architect achieving awesome ascendence.

I think any further discussion on this topic should be relegated to the Politics section of the forum. That's what it's for.

For all the 'hurr durr get a real OS' people:

when I reboot my Mac, it remembers what programs I had open and relaunches them for me.

Get your fuckin' Windows to do that.

Various flavours of Linux can do that. Since we're talking about using a real operating system.

    • RE: Incentives for RP

If there's a system, certain kinds of people are going to find a way to break it. Having a simple system that makes breakages/cheating obvious involves less clean up. I go back and forth between liking and loathing the "rewarding players by advancing characters" thing, but it mostly works.

    • RE: Poll: Do I enjoy this hobby more than I don't?

@Derp Oh man, this so goddamn hard. Not being able to make a planned scene because RL comes up? That's a fine thing to bring up. But the big one I fucking hate with a firey passion is people that go on and on and on and on and on about their various maladies and concerns and issues and... do that shit in private. I don't need to see it come up in the middle of every fucking conversation ever.
