We did this on a The Reach once. I still get alerts from the account. It was awesome.
But one thing is for sure. You don't have to be a great writer to make a twitter account. It is known for everything but. So not sure why that would even be thought of as a problem.

I love Supernatural. I'd love to play a Supernatural game. But because of the time period I'd stay away from it.
I would not look forward to having to deal with all the "-isms" people will feel free to "explore" because "it fits the time period and setting". Several MU* folk don't need any excuse to be more offensive than they already are...

@Thenomain I never called anyone a whiner just for disagreeing with me. You're just trying to pick a fight here.
Players do whine (if you're really concerned about that very particular word, feel free to substitute it for something less abrasive to you) about being given consequences for using powers that are supposed to stay off the radar out in the open. There are players who complain about just being warned that there will be consequences, because they feel oppressed or whatever their rationale is.
It happens. It is a thing. To pretend it isn't is ignorant.

@Jennkryst There's no XP cap anymore. They got rid of that shortly after the time people started hitting it. There's a limit on how much free/auto xp you get. But that's not really the same thing.
@derp What custom stuff? The only thing that might be considered custom is that they allowed/converted some 1st edition merits for use in the game. And do you really want to have PCs v PCs at war? And the number of scenes where people are charging headfirst into a battle with Seers has been like... 3 maybe. It seems like maybe you got caught up into someone's rabble rousing ICly even though things don't really go down like that. And if they do, it is few and far between. The "war" is mostly negotiating, looking for allies, finding objects and info that could help against the Seers, that kind of thing. Straight up fights are rare. So there's a little something for everyone. -

Just because someone says something or does something you don't agree with does not mean that they are incapable of rational thought - no matter how much you might wish it to be true.
Your strongest argument is your own refusal to see what everyone else sees. However, you've proven yourself capable of rational thought before so even that is just proof that "anecdotal evidence" is not actual evidence.

@sunnyj There's definitely two sides of it. I totally agree with you that someone reading the background and working with you individually is better. I know this is true on every level.
But that's hard to reconcile with the reality of the experience of reading up on the game and the setting and doing the research, making the character... then stalling out, doing nothing for however long, each day feeling more and more like they'll never get to you and you just don't know when the wait will be over (or when to check in so they can talk to you about your background and character, etc.). You start to lose interest in the character and the game and all the giddy excitement of starting a new character or game starts to fade away...
Patience is super important for this process, for sure. And it seems like they are doing the best they can with what they have. I don't think anyone is doubting that. So hopefully all the good reports from people that have made it through can bridge that gap to help sustain those that are wasting away in the chargen no-man's land.

If you're talking direct combat, sure. But in other areas Werewolves are lacking. The good thing about CoD Mage is, they pushed them back to D&D status where they can be powerful in general, but squishy in combat. And to be at their best they need the right, rare components and a lot of time to prepare, preferably in a specialized room.
Now I don't know if every splat now has a particular area where they outshine the other splats, but combat is not the forte of the Mage, especially compared to Werewolves. Even combat focused Adamantine Arrows would have a tough go of trying to match Werewolves.

@Arkandel It hasn't been on him in a long time. There have been numerous chances to either remove, censure, balance, or put him in check and they've all been passed up by the systems the US has in place and the people elected by those systems - both in 2016 and in 2018.
So regardless of what you call the US, yes, it deserves exactly whatever it chooses.

This is great and I fully support it. But the pessimist in me says that's an uphill battle. Especially when you have an era with PCs on opposing sides. Great vibes, possibly, but working well together... that is tougher. I'd like to think that people are more mature now that 5 years ago, but the story told above says 'not everyone' and sometimes all it takes is one to ruin the bunch.
One of the downsides to allowing dark side PCs, as someone mentioned on another board recently, is that dark side PCs have no built in motivation not to kill everything everywhere at all times. I feel for the players that had to deal with Tolssk in that scene, even moreso because of the xp imbalance. I've been there. But ICly he didn't do anything but follow his character. Tolssk kills as many as he can as often as he can. That's his thing. Even if it is other PCs. He's got no reason to do otherwise.
You'd have to find some way to come to an ooc understanding with dark side players that the game is not a free for all to kill everything that moves. And I'm not sure how you do that, honestly. You really just have to count on the integrity of the player to be cool. And I wish that was easy. It should be easy. But experience, even up to what was described yesterday, says that it is not.
However, I hope everyone finds a way to make it a possibility and not let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.
ETA: I think making everyone point buy is a fantastic idea. The problem with attributes isn't how high some PCs have certain stats at. Its that only certain PCs have them there because they got a good roll when they made their character. That inequality breeds negative feelings, either towards other players or the character itself. If every PC has 20 in every stat, everyone is still as equally balanced as having every PC at 12 in every stat. Everyone is still on an even playing field. So for those averse to the point buy, maybe an increase in that number will balance that.

I think the issue with places that have "excessive" HRs (and maybe HRs in general) is that people just want to change the game to fit them rather than playing it the way it was presented, but don't want to own up to that. So they try to justify it with explanations that don't quite hold water. There have been many HRs justified as 'this is a mistake and probably wasn't meant to be this way' despite the fact that errata (and sometimes a second round of errata) was released and that particular thing wasn't addressed.
It takes a healthy ego to assume knowledge of what an author meant, declare his/her work a mistake, even after two official revisions of their work, and declare the fix you think they would make had they caught the mistake they must have missed through those two revisions and corrections.
I'm not saying that unnecessarily changing the rules to fit a staffer's personal preferences is bad or good. I just wish people would own up to the real reasons behind the HRs rather than coming up with excuses.

And if you are going by character height in cannon, well, Hugh Jackman was almost a foot taller than Logan is supposed to be, and he seemed to do just fine.
Matter of opinion there...
I don't believe you can take a core character concept away from a character and still consider it to be good. Fox Studios believed a superhero wasn't much more than their powers and that's (one of a few reasons) why their superhero franchises failed and continue to fail, especially versus other Marvel titles.
Sometimes height has nothing to do with a character. But sometimes it really does. I don't know enough about She-Hulk to know whether it applies, but I trust the Disney Marvel people to keep the core of her character intact and handle it appropriately.

@Malkleth You are all over the map, dude. Are the HRs silly? Or are they mostly well written? If you knew your character was unplayable, then why did you play him? More specifically, why did you play him the way you did?
That pretty much sums you up as a player, right there.
How you play is completely is completely up to you. If you think it is totally acceptable to cause problems on the game because no one stops you from doing it, then it is no wonder you're no longer welcome on the game. Been there, grew up from that.
Additionally, your character is not dependent on your character build. Your idea of what the game is supposed to be is so basic. This is not a tabletop.

@Sunny Most of the powers play the same way in LARP or tabletop. The systems for determining success or failure are different, but the powers generally do the same thing. So in case it wasn't clear, I'm talking about HRing concepts, not systems for determining success (staff changing powers whole cloth, ruling they don't work on certain things or certain situations, banning them outright, etc...)
Taking a rule from the tabletop and saying 'this power wasn't made for large numbers of people' when there's a book with the same power, same application but just with a different system for determining success is a cop out.
And does anyone really believe these people who are contributing writing to WoD books have never considered that gamers aren't going to play splats against each other? Or that there won't be players using these systems against other players? How is it we play these games over and over again, and yet people seem to give the writers so little credit for developing these games we love so much. So little.
Anyway... (add inflammatory insults and name calling here because it makes my argument stronger)

@GreenFlashlight Well, if it helps, I don't think anyone involved in any of this plays on the game anymore, whether through their own choice or @Obie 's, so that might be a good thing for anyone still looking to play.

I don't like people on my game reminded that there are other options out there. They are much easier to beat into submission if they are convinced that this is the only place they could reasonably expect to have funtimes, no matter how unfun those times may be.
