@ThatGuyThere I guess that's true. I hate that mentality though. To me, it seems like it would be even more of an accomplishment to win in this kind of fashion by doing it differently. After all this time no one else could do it like this? But you did? That's amazing. More than that, its notable.

To be honest, I didn't really think of them as different, though I've heard people say that. I haven't followed them that much so there's probably stuff I'm missing. I know they don't have a giant guy down low, but "small ball" has worked in the past for championship teams. But there hasn't been a 3 point shooter like Steph Curry in forever, so if they are doing it differently, that's probably why it hasn't worked before.

Also, while we praise Curry and his game, is there any word on Kevin Durant's big time mental collapses at the crucial ending moments last night when the Thunder could have put the game away? What was he thinking? Not as bad as the Bengals in the playoffs, but pretty bad.

Why did it seem like this couldn't come quickly enough and now that its here, I'm like Aaaah! So many concepts to consider. That'll take a week or two.

OMG did you see that win tonight... So much respect. Curry put on a show. That last shot would be amazing... if we hadn't seen it many times before from him.

@ThatGuyThere I don't mean to say that the majority of people don't give GS respect. Most people (this year, at least) give them the credit due. But that percentage is not nearly as high as it should be.

I see people on all several different kind of sports shows compare them to the Patriots and say they're gonna have a great season, but then get trounced in the playoffs due to real competition plus fatigue, etc. But even for those that do give them respect, in general, they talk about this year's team like a breakout team - not like the league's reigning NBA champions.

Other who recognize this say it is a PR problem. That they are too soft spoken and don't command that respect universally, but I think that's a crock. You shouldn't have to be loud and obnoxious in order to get attention when your play merits it. But, unfortunately, loud and obnoxious in this country (US) seems to be just as worthy of praise and adulation as actions for many people.

By all rights, he should have been taken by one of the two picks Minnesota had ahead of the Warriors, but they took Rubio and Flynn. IIRC, Curry didn't even really work out for the Warriors before the draft, but Larry Riley took a shot on him.

Larry Riley said he never really considered Curry because he didn't believe he'd be available at that time. Like you, he firmly believed Minnesota was going to grab him up. When he was still available. The fact that they didn't do any of the workouts and scouting they normally did on a player didn't even matter. They took him.

As for the screening, there's always specific rules that are laid off in every sport. Michael Jordan was notorious for using the hand check on his cross over step back jumpers to push off the defender. There's one of his last shots from a game in a finals that keep getting replayed over and over (I can't remember which one), where he practically shoves the guy to the ground before taking his shot. He makes the bucket and seals the game and walks back victorious, and everyone forgets that hand checking opponents is illegal. But that's just a part of the game, and as any coach will tell you, you play the game that is called, not the game that is written. It certainly didn't take away form Jordan and the Bulls, I doubt it will affect Golden State's history much.

However, @Wolfs also mentioned how very little respect Golden State gets already (from some people). And I don't understand it. I know there's a certain amount of jealousy but damn. It was this lack of respect when they won the title last year which I think prompted this extra level of play this year. And they still can't get respect from some people. Haters. I'm no GS fan, but I find it impossible not to respect what GS has done the last 2 years.

@thebird I feel you. I get that way too. And then everything just kind of sets you off? Yeah, its a thing. I try to find something on the other end of that which generally makes you happy and take the edge off so I'm not getting annoyed at everything.

Today has kind of been like that for me.

    • RE: Couples who MU together

@mietze It seems like what you're talking about is when you are RPing with someone else who has a partner. I'm referring more to myself having a partner and RPing relationship and sex with someone other than my partner.

But you do bring up a good point and I would definitely worry about OOC drama with the other person's RL partner, both if things went wrong or if things are going well, especially if they are on staff. I don't know about your relationship and I don't know what kind of jealously levels you guys have going on. I'm not trying to have someone freak out on me cause of it. I'm seen it happen before. I've heard of it happening more. No thanks.

    • RE: Couples who MU together

@Lithium I think its my own inability to get into a mindset where I get or give those things that are so great about my relationship to someone outside of my significant other. I'm old school, I guess, where once you make a commitment with someone certain things are kept only between you and them. For example, I could understand a threesome (either kind) before I understand an open relationship or swapping. I just kind of believe there's certain things you only have with your SO or you share together and whether other things or people are included, you still do it together. I can understand couples that watch porn together. I don't understand it when one person in the couple watches it on their own.

As a caveat, I'll also add that all of the above is assuming my idea of a good, solid relationship. I can understand breaking from the above if someone isn't feeling fulfilled, or is feeling ignored, or is missing something intimate or personal to the point that they look for it outside of the relationship.

    • RE: DMs, GMs, STs: Do you fudge rolls?

Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don't. If I'm running games that are fanciful and not serious, I'll definitely fudge rolls. If I'm running games that are supposed to be more intense and hardcore I'll never fudge the dice. Depends on the mood of the game I'm running.

I'll echo @flahgenstow and say I also find it strange. But also point out that he didn't say it was wrong. I'm sure he meant, like I do, that I don't particularly understand that mindset. But I what other couples do is between them, obviously. None of my business.

I think having the Contracts be universal is an excellent idea. I think a lot of players chose their seeming based on the contracts they could get more than the Seeming itself which left a lot of the story and connection to the seeming completely ignored. Players are players. And this helps preserve certain choices to be more "genuine". Of course you'll still have people who choose their seemings based on the extra bonuses. But I suspect you'll have much less of that sort of thing than you did before.

and I guess if you're an actual sports person, the constant come-from-behind wins are pretty dumb and Coach Taylor frequently makes lulzy decisions on the field

This is pretty much how it is for me and it really kills the show. I couldn't get through the first season, partly because whatever they do well with the interpersonal relationships they ruin by not continuing the shows strengths once they go back to football. Its like when you see really bad CGI in a movie with a really good story. You can't take the rest of the movie seriously, even if it is good otherwise.

We did this on a The Reach once. I still get alerts from the account. It was awesome.

But one thing is for sure. You don't have to be a great writer to make a twitter account. It is known for everything but. So not sure why that would even be thought of as a problem.

    • RE: Good TV

I understand the sentiment, but to me The Wire was amazing. It felt real. It was not a crime drama in any normal sense of the world. It was not "easy watching" with snappy one liners and sunglasses and The Who, by any means. People always talk about how television desensitizes people to violence. This did the opposite - even though it did it in the same basic format every other show does it. It managed to take horrible tragedies and make you feel like they were horrible tragedies. But I suspect that many people felt like @TNP and avoided the show for that reason, which is why despite how amazing it was, it never won anything substantial.

But when a scripted TV show immerses you so much that you feel the 'real' in it, that's kinda the holy grail of a good drama. So screw Hollywood.
