RE: A fully OC supers MU
@ZombieGenesis said in A fully OC supers MU:
I think you should make the game YOU want to play the way that YOU want to play it
I think this is really important. There are pros and cons to stated and not, and while the Trait system that most comic games seem to use attracts a certain crowd, a stat system will likely attract a different crowd. Especially in an OC only game that will draw in a slightly different crowd than the standard super hero game anyways.

RE: A fully OC supers MU
It probably helped that power scale was pretty well defined and didn't have such a wide spread as in comic games. In DFRPG the strongest Strength power might make you Mr Incredible, but no one was Superman level benching the Moon.

RE: A fully OC supers MU
Dark Spires was DFRPG which is basically FATE and it worked really well. Staff had no problem saying no, but even as a player running plots I never really ran into issues with others trying to game the system. For most of the game's run it was one of the most cooperative feeling game environments I've ever played on.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@skew I think this is an example of "What does Theme X mean to you?" We had a similar discussion in one of the Wheel of Time game threads about WoT. To me, Chontio as it was described seemed less a Star Wars game and a more a generic Sci-Fi game inspired by Star Wars.
But speaking of generic Sci-Fi games... I know I'm out for for wanting this but I'd love to see a Treasure Planet themed game.

RE: A fully OC supers MU
I've seen DFRPG (based on Fate for those not familiar) be basically one-for-one swapped in for an OC super table top game without issue. The power sets already in place can describe just about any super power set out there and with OCs you don't have the problem of "but this FC is the best!"

RE: Game of Thrones
@Arkandel i would be pleasantly surprised but I think you're giving the writers way too much credit

RE: City of Shadows
To build on this:
access to plot is not universal - I can run scenes for my cabal/coterie/pack, but how does that help Joe Newbie from a weird timezone?
don't make joining a cabal/Coterie/Pack/Whatever a requirement for involvement. it's my unpopular opinion that those small groups aren't a good fit for a MU. they are great for table top but I've rarely seen them done in an online game where it's been a Good Thing and good number of players avoid them.

RE: Space Games and Travel Time? Why? Why Not?
On the subject of travel time.. you can have it both ways?
AoA kinda does already. There is regular space and hyper space. Regular space for Space based flying around and RP for folks that love that, but hit hyperspace to Fast Travel.
Right now AoA has travel times on hyper space and their shuttle system so it can still take a long time (sometimes hours) to get between systems, but a similar system could just cut those times down to seconds and appease most people (other than those that feel travel times are needed for immersion)

RE: SerenityMUSH - Discussion
HSpace is pretty terrible and way way too overly complicated for what a game like Serenity needs.. but as far as the game itself goes as it stands I wouldn't think they're going to be making any changes with something that code heavy. What's there works, even if it does take a dozen commands to do what should be done in three

RE: SerenityMUSH - Discussion
As some others have said you definitely don't want MSB to dictate your game.
An idle-nuke would be a fantastic idea if you didn't want to do a full story reset, it's a start at least.
As a player on the game that still logs in and idles almost daily though my vote is on a full story reset. Move the timeline to a point that everyone familiar with the settings knows like right after the movie, clean up the pirate debacle, the syndicate nonsense, Beau's very existence, all that stuff. Deregister all the ships and everyone makes a new character, throw credits at peoples so they can get started without you having to worry about fiddling with the cost of things, can crew up and apply for a ship, etc.

RE: SerenityMUSH - Discussion
@SerenityMush
I am curious if a full reboot has been discussed at all/is on the table?
The other tweaks and all would be nice, but really the best thing I can think of to actually get interest back in the game would be a reset.

RE: SerenityMUSH - Discussion
Being split into crews isn't necessarily a bad thing. When I played on Serenity and it was active that's how it was. 3-5 ships with crews of half a dozen ore more that ran PRPs internally, but also interacted with each other frequently. It also helped that the game has a good Shuttle system so that you can hop from one side of the verse to the other in moments without having to rely on a relatively slow transit time of a ship.
That said, if you were soley ground based, you typically were SoL unless you could offer a hook/hub of RP yourself

RE: SerenityMUSH - Discussion
@Tinuviel In the time that I played this was something less of an issue. The staff there did try and run some metaplot to get anyone that wanted to involved. I personally didn't care for the plot they ran for a few reasons, but a lot of folks had fun with it.
