I'd forgotten about Dresden. I've had a ton of fun with the Fate Accelerated version of the game. I think this week I might pick up the Fate Core version.

WoD Alternatives
I didn't want to derail another thread but someone mentioned in the RPG Systems thread of using a 'WoD Lite' type system. So that made me curious, what systems would be decent alternatives to WoD?
My TT group really enjoyed Everlasting. We house ruled some stuff but we found it more functional than WoD in a lot of ways.
When I was in High School my group loved Nightlife. Again, not perfect but very easy to mod and fairly balanced if I remember correctly.
There's also Urban Shadows and Monster Hearts but I'm not sure how well Powered by the Apocalypse would work on a MUX. Part of me says wonderfully...another part says not so much.
There's also Buffy/Angel, which hopefully we'll be seeing soon enough how well that works, but Eden Studios also offers Armageddon which can be modded to do modern nights quite well.
Then there are the systems that are so-called generic; GURPS, Savage Worlds, Genesys, and HERO. I think Savage Worlds could work well. In fact I've been close to doing a Ravenloft game using SW several times. I think Genesys could work well too but I'm less familiar.
Anyway, those are the systems I can think off of the top of my head that might work well as WoD alternates.

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
@thenomain I think it could be if you have the right setup. I think you'd have to set certain expectations with players. The funny thing is both City of Mists and Worlds in Peril are kind of setup for how MUers RP, freeform RP anyway. They just create light skeletal frameworks so you know the limits and abilities of your character. Even so, I shied away from doing both because of how easily it would be for a player to abuse said systems.
That said, I think it could be sustained. Sure. Modern-day noir fantasy, the possibilities for stories is limitless. I think you'd just have to set the expectation that your character won't change too much once you've made it through c-gen. Not on the level of a WoD or D&D game I don't think anyway.

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
I'd been severely tempted by some of the following Call of Cthulhu 7E, City of Mists, D&D 5E, Savage Words(Fantasy, RIfts, or Superhero), the new Star Trek RPG, and most recently Shadowrun Anarchy. There are also some more fringe games I would have loved to have explored on a MUX including Palladium's TMNT RPG and the old school Ghostbusters RPG.

RE: Godbound RPG
I'm running an adventure this week at some point set in a Dark Souls like world where normal humans have been pretty much decimated by invading demons so the gods splintered their essence into a new generation of heroes/demigods. Super high powered obviously but that's the name of the game in Godbound. I'm pretty excited to try it.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
Work progresses and I'm pretty happy with some of the mock-up layouts I've seen for the wiki. I'm currently working on inputting system information so everything everyone needs for the RPG is right there on the wiki.
@Ganymede I'll probably take you up on that offer but I wanna wait till the wiki is just about done before I move on to asking for more external help. Thanks!

RE: Potential Buffy Game
Just wanted to let those who were interested know that work has finally begun on the game in earnest. I've registered a domain and we're in the process of setting up the mediawiki. Right now I have someone making it look all pretty and what not while I import all the rules and RPG information players will need to play on the game.
The good news is the code work on the mux itself is done. I just need to build the grid and get the wiki up and running for the most part and we'll be good to go. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to open a week or so before Halloween.

Godbound RPG
I've been on the lookout for some time for an RPG that would emulate mythic fantasy well. I've made do with the Mythic Battles RPG but recently someone pointed me towards Godbound. It's sort of Exalted meets D&D. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it? It looks interesting at a glance. For those interested you can get it for free from DriveThruRPG here.

RE: Poll: Fantasy Earth 2.0
Pictures and other bits of pop culture laying around? They learn to read and think old school dime novels are history books? Maybe. I dunno.

RE: Poll: Fantasy Earth 2.0
For me the noir setting works for certain things. I love City of Mist and its modern noir take but for something like this I think I would prefer a modern setting. That or like Victorian/Edwardian maybe.

RE: Horror MUX - Discussion
Sorry, wasn't trying to take part in any sort of inadvertent thread hijack.
In regards to HorrorMU I'm actually on the wiki now looking at available archetypes. I know my schedule is crap for RP but I'd very much like to get in at least on the end of the Aliens stuff.

RE: Horror MUX - Discussion
@coin said in Horror MUX:
Maybe it's time a CofD/WoD game played out like that, too.
I always wanted to play at(or maybe run) a Vampire: Requiem 2E game where the Strix were a serious threat.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
Just a brief update about the game, I'm still plugging along it's just been slow. This week has been not the best week ever. I won't go into the gory details but it involved moving my wife's grandmother up to Maine and then said grandmother taking a fall and shattering a vertebra in her back.
In a more amusing sidenote, the city of Dayton now haunts me. Not really but my brother is a truck driver who was up to help with stuff and he left for his next pickup yesterday and where was he picking up? Dayton, OH. Also, I recently started playing The Hulk on a comic game that's not public yet and I discovered Bruce Banner was in fact born in Dayton, OH as I was filling out his wiki page. Funny stuff.

RE: Horror MUX - Discussion
Man, I'm very sorry I missed the alien story but I think I'll give the Prosperity story a try. My RP times are weird but it looks too cool to pass up!

RE: Poll: Fantasy Earth 2.0
@Runescryer Huh, just watched some videos on it. Looks very interesting! Ordered it from Amazon, excited to get it on Monday. Thanks!

RE: Poll: Fantasy Earth 2.0
I've been itching for something like this since Bright. I'd love to get excited for Shadowrun 5E but I just find that system to be a monster. I've been tempted to check out the new Modern Age RPG by Green Ronin to see how hard it'd be to adapt something like this to. So I voted for Modern but I'd also be okay for something in the "near future" that's kind of Shadowrun lite.

RE: Now Open! Welcome to Lovecraft
No, it has closed and been kind of reborn as Horror MU.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
Well, as I said, I haven't had good experiences allowing them in the past so they are unlikely to be part of the final game. Like you said there are options to emulate if it some people really wanted.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
Minor update, I'm still looking to move forward with this I've just been doing research on some things and trying to find a good map to base the grid on. I've also had some people ask if I'll be allowing Highlander style immortals and I'm undecided. I tried that with the last Buffy game I ran and...it didn't go so well. But we'll see. Anyway, just wanted to let people know that this project is still in the works it's just progressing at a leisurely pace.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
@magee101 It's a TinyMUX codebase and I'd be using the Cinematic Unisystem with some slight tweaks (mostly modifying multiple actions).
So I'm heavily leaning towards moving forward with a game based in Dayton, OH. I'm trying to keep things realistic, however. For instance, at the moment I'm the lone staffer. That won't stop me from doing it but it does mean that until I get other people to run plots there will probably only be 1 set day for plotty scenes (Sunday or Monday nights).
I have the next couple of days off of work so I'm gonna look into how I'd like to model the grid (which will likely be equal parts Dayton and then a mini-grid within Dayton representing a college or university) and maybe getting the wiki ready.
