    • RE: General Video Game Thread

      Fun update for Mordhau:

The developers have doubled down on the alt-right shenanigans and promised 'free speech' in all their forums and even in the official steam discussions page. Peruse it and expect to see such treasured discussions as 'Show us your kniggaz' for showing off your character models, threads insulting the non-binary, screams about 'SJW snowflakes' and pictures of white-clad characters that look like the KKK throwing firebombs and with the caption 'Burn the kniggs!'.

So just for the future. I'd advise adding Triternion to your 'never buy' list. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

The developers of Mordhau, according to their kickstarter goals, have 'adding women and PoC' characters on their goals.

One of the devs recently tweeted that when they add them, they'll have a 'toggle' that allows you to not see them in game. To please the racist, n-word spamming alt-right masses who play the game.

The company immediately jumped up in the official game twitter after the guy deleted the tweet and claimed he never said any such thing because the bad press was starting to pile up.

Avoid this shitstorm of a game. I've learned my lesson. I just wish I hadn't wasted 30 dollars. In the future, I'll know to avoid all medieval sword-and-axe type games because of the racist-ass 4chan Deus Vult crowd.

@Auspice Every time there is a sale I go down my wish list, and if I don't feel like buying the game at the sale price I remove it from my wish list. It's a good system.

@Ghost The LGBT-friendliness won't fly with some of WWE's core MAGA demographic, though.

@PuppyBreath Well my offer is open for a free meal and a chance to see around Austin. Also if you need a job I can probably get you hooked up with something basic pretty quick.

And if worst comes to worst and there is an emergency I can probably get you a spare room for a little while if there's no pets involved.

I'm a little tapped on money at the moment but I'd be glad to help if you need assistance getting over that final hump. I'm just kinda... burned right now due to moving/buying a new computer/buying furniture/all kinds of moving expenses of my own.

@Selira It's human nature. Give us a thing and if we can't eat it eventually we'll try to fuck it.

@Rinel I want to second this. Visit him. Call him. Keep in whatever sort of communication you can. Let him vent all his frustrations and fears to you. Keep a brave face and wait until you get home to cry.

It's very important to have family that supports you when you're dealing with those sort of problems. Very, very important. (Support though, not enable. Never enable.)

@Wretched That being said, you also have people who like to revise and twist theme/setting. For example, the alt-right and historical settings as opposed to retro-futuristic.

So I think it's important for a game to have some 'edge' to it, but we need to be careful to not have edge for the sake of edge or worse, edge that alters the theme of the game itself.

    • RE: Where to play?

I'm glad Gray Harbor is doing well. It seems like a lovely game populated and staffed by lovely people.

However, are there any other places out there to play on? I'm in the same situation as Cobalt in that I am not currently playing anywhere and would really like to run some plots/do some RP. Gray Harbor doesn't like it is up my alley as I checked out the theme and it wasn't for me, so I would be interested if there were any other options.

@Ghost The guy who created the in-game ad said it was like that on purpose, as that sort of exploitation is part of the theme of the game.

It might have been his purpose or it might not, but I accept his explanation.

@Wretched Here's to hoping all the gamer-bros boycott CP2077 and don't get to enjoy it for the no doubt awesome game it will be.

@surreality You speak in a tense that suggests you speak for everyone involved. I understand you are over it. The fact that @scorn came to me pretending to not be themselves to get dirt on people just recently shows that they care very, very little for actual mending of fences and are focused on damage control as word of their activities gets out.

Me? I'm over it too, I suppose. I'm a firm believer in forget, don't forgive. So I'm going to forget this nonsense until it becomes relevant again.

@Thenomain However, beating cancer doesn't make shitty behavior any less shitty.

One of my least favorite people in the world died of cancer. I cried for her when I found out she had cancer. I cried for her when she died. But I will always remember her as a sack of crap for the way she treated me and others.

@Roz Squaw was the worst protagonist of the series. He makes Tidus (Played brilliantly by Meg Ryan, by the way) look awesome.

I'm just the peanut gallery here but...

1.) Public apologies don't mean nearly as much as private, personal ones.

2.) Apologies aren't as important as correcting bad behavior.

3.) Congratulations on being cancer free. Now you get a chance to be a better, happier person.

@Roz Are they going to make it into a playable RPG where levels and stuff matter, or are they going to leave it as a festering pile?

I rather liked the ending of the most recent season and think the final season will tie things up nicely. It felt a little tacked on, sure, but I'll forgive that for the proper usage of Lemmy.
