@ThatOneDude I loved those books, but they'd need to be set either before the books, or at least before the ending of the last book.

RE: RL Anger
Why the fuck do people go to a movie, pick a seat next to someone else when the whole theatre is open practically, and then /talk/ through the whole fucking movie.
I just want to kill these people.
Happened when I saw John Wick 2, some asshole talking on their phone throughout the movie.
Happened when I saw Atomic Blonde, with two people chattering away in Portuguese. It's like, really?!

RE: Where do you draw the line in having your character take what would otherwise be an "IC" action for them?
There is always crossover, it is absolutely impossible to not have IC/OOC crossover because the OOC person is still playing the character, and making choices for them, so the separation is difficult to really say where that line is.
In the end, it's a game, have fun. If something is making it not fun, then alter things so that it is fun. If that means not doing something ICly in one way then that is fine imho. That goes both ways though, since other people are playing, we need to be flexible and understand we might need to not just stick to the IC guns if it's going to ruin other people's fun.
That's just being a jerk.

RE: What locations do you want to RP in?
@Thenomain I agree. To many people think popularity is something that must be had in order for something to be done.
If the game is good, people will try it out, you will find people who like it, and those who don't. There is nothing wrong with people not liking your game. If it's not for them, more power to them to find something that is. Keep true to your vision and cater to the people who want to play /that vision/. Everyone will have fun, and if people are having fun, it is a success.
That makes it worthwhile, imho anyways.

RE: New/Old mush now hiring staff!
Probably a game based off Roger Zelazny's books the Chronicles of Amber. Possibly including stuff from the second series of books as well.
Most of them used some version of the Amber Diceless RPG which works very well for a MU* setting, if you're dealing with adults.

RE: Someone should do a Faerun game.
I would love to see a Ravenloft game, set maybe in a splinter realm that had nothing to do with Strahd, there are plenty. Would be good horror, wouldn't even need to use the D&D ruleset really, the background information in Ravenloft is just awesome.

@Jennkryst I liked the 3%, thanks for reminding me, need to finish watching that.

RE: What locations do you want to RP in?
@Ghost In WoD/CoD I've always felt that you needed a bright place to contrast the darkness. It doesn't have to be a family restaurant or a chuck e cheese, but there shouldn't be everywhere is grim/dark.
There should be a dark side to everything but it's not exactly necessary to be out in the open where everyone can see it. Most people even in the WoD/CoD do not come into contact with the monsters, so having a slice of life place can be fine but yeah, lately, I agree that there's not enough 'bad' on the grid on many games.
Or at least the games that I've glanced at.
EDIT to Add: Without contrast, things have less impact.

RE: What locations do you want to RP in?
The locations need to add to the theme so that players can feel invested into the theme and that the world is what it is.
Locations are the only static way to do that beyond news files.
Hangout 1 place where people can play games, drink, eat, socialize.
Hangout 2 place where people can play games, drink, eat, socialize.
Two identical locations...
Except that if 1 is a bowling alley, and the other is a chuck-e-cheese, then two totally different environments.
Then there is tone... is this part of a city horrible or not. If people actually take the time to read descriptions and such, it can add a whole lot more to the game than who is banging who.

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?
A Highlander (and mortals and watchers) only game would be interesting. The system you used for it could be pretty simple in a lot of ways, or you could just create Highlanders as immortals with a 'power' stat called Quickening that you could use to flash heal, or boost stats. You'd only be able to increase it by taking someone else's head and absorbing their quickening.
Could be fun... but definitely not for the faint of heart about character death.
Would be an interesting thing to watch as groups built up, fell apart, politics, etc.

RE: Nasgarath's Playlist
@LoaKey I've always liked the idea of playing Amber, but have it be based in a Shadow that is somehow important. Not important enough to bring every FC from Amber or the Courts, but still important enough that offspring are being sent etc.
Could be a new power was discovered or something, I dunno, there's some resource like Corwin's dusting powder but not of the exact same type maybe.
Could be fun without needing to worry about the heavy weights.

RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check
@Ghost See for me the moment a MU fails, is because it has levels.
Level based systems are inherently segregating /and/ have a finite cap (usually) which means eventually people break the game for everyone else.

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?
@Jennkryst there have been PrP's that take extended time as long as there has been MU*'s.
This is not a new issue.
It is not compounded in any way by this theme.
Any RP not in the PrP either happened before, or after, or there could be... ship RP! Time is fluid in this environment.

RE: RL things I love
The day when you literally start to hit rock bottom because what should be easy has turned infinitely hard, to the next date when you're having to turn down to many job offers than you can shake a stick at.
To bad the one that interests me most wants me to work 60-80 hours a week

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?
Ship adventure would be just like a PrP or Staff Plot.
The main game takes place at the pirate port.
People don't like to lose anywhere, but there are game genre's where people losing is not considered a cardinal sin.
There are genre's where character loss is not a cardinal sin too..
The real way to do it is to have a minor barrier of entry, and staff willing to say: No. (This is something every game needs, not just this genre)
As to the type of pirates, anything can be done right. Personally I'd do it in a setting that was alternate world, with a history similar to ours up to a point and then going it's own way.

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?
I /NEED/ a Pirate Game.
Need it.
So bad.
Now that I am job hunting I keep wanting to build one because I have extra prime time... time.
But I want a Pirate Game. Give me a D&D game with pirate focus. Give me an Earthdawn game with Sky Pirates as playables. Give me a ShadowRun game set in the islands. Give me a Lord and Ladies game set in the 1700's down in the Bahamas.
Give.
Me.
Pirates. -

@surreality Most of the time I feel like Catbug trying to do anything responsible.

RE: Things We Should Have Learned Sooner
@Auspice I have that problem too. I try to accommodate to many people and then get put in the middle, trying to hold it all together and then when it falls apart, I get blamed.
It sucks.
