I use Third Generation and I was able to compile RHOST there once in the past, but I don't currently use it so I don't know if things have changed.

RE: Fallout 4
Huh I didn't know that Dogmeat didn't count as a companion, I usually play without dogmeat and just take lone wanderer cuz, stimpacks are expensive, and I don't need companions trying to melee a Deathclaw.
I am just glad that modding finally has gotten some decent face mods and body mods into it for both sexes but my girlfriend is very much asking when she is getting me back from Fallout 4 these days

RE: Previously Mutants & Masterminds MUX, now a Question! DUN DUN DUN!
I don't care about length, I care about adding to the scene and the story. This does not always require a huge pose, but it does require at least two things: A characters reaction to what just transpired, and their reaction to it (Or them instigating an action). It is a lot more difficult to do this with a short two line pose, at least in any way that meaningfully propels the story and gives the person (or people) you are RP'ing with anything to work with to further the story.
It's collaborative, if you do not collaborate, then you're simply taking up space and wasting people's time.
Note: This is not directed at anyone. I don't know who all I've RP'd with here really but I am sure I have, so not pointing fingers, just stating my opinion.

RE: Tales from the Crypt!
@Miss-Demeanor I have to say Demon Knight was really quite good, Billy Zane has a soft spot in my heart and Jada was also pretty good.
Overall I didn't watch to much Tales from the Crypt, or at least it didn't have to much of an impact on my psyche, not like say, Creepshow did...
Fucking cockaroaches!

Thanks for the Ride Lady!

RE: An-E-May
I've seen A-Ko, I've seen all the Gunbuster stuff, I've seen Battleship Yamamoto, and I still found nothing intriguing about Kill la Kill.
I'm going to chalk that one up as just 'Not for me' and move on.
Second season of Gate is coming out soon, looking forwards to that one.

- It's going to take you 40 years to have time for this again?
or
- The hobby still 'really exists'?
Pick one.
I don't have to pick one. In 40 years I will be dead because unlike you, I am not some young kid who thinks he knows everything. At the rate the hobby is losing people and not gaining many, raw attrition says that it won't be /that/ much longer in the grand scope of things that there won't be truly sustainable numbers for anything other than pay to play muds and sex MU*'s. Cuz Sex always sells.
EDIT: As to why we are losing and not gaining? Kids these days grew up with exceptional graphics video games. Most do not have the inclination to really learn to use their imagination when someone else can do it for them and put it on the television through the power of a console or even the PC. There are huge worlds for them to learn and love and they don't need to learn to stretch themselves now because giving someone a 'living' fantasy world through games has become such a huge business and technology has progressed to the point that most don't need to use their imagination to picture the game world, or even know how to tell good literature from bad (Yes, I am looking at you Twilight fans).
So text on a screen? It is to slow, they have to read, they have to wait for any 'gratification'. MUD's are slightly better off because they are at least faster paced, create character, go kill mobs, loot rewards, rinse and repeat.
As someone who's been MU*'ing nearly as long as @Cirno has been alive (If they are really 25 years old) I can honestly say the heyday is WELL passed. When even a HORRIBLE (imho) game like Dark Metal had hundreds of people, and if your game ever had less than 20 on it was /dying/ or already dead, that we've lost a LOT of fellow hobbyists.
Now the rare (non-sex) game breaks 50 people at peak time, and it's not for lack of variety. So yeah, the community is dwindling.

RE: An-E-May
I can't get into Kill la Kill at all, the art style is just not my cup of tea to an extent that I haven't been able to make it through episode 1 yet.

RE: Previously Mutants & Masterminds MUX, now a Question! DUN DUN DUN!
@Coin I don't think having consistency is a horrible thing at all. I think once agame goes live, it should create it's own history and run with it. Even if you are basing it on established IP once your players are dictating things, and your staff are running things, you are automatically in a land of 'alternate reality' so trying to remain ultra faithful to the IP were nothing ever changes is... silly.
It's sort of why I dislike games set in the middle of a series of movies or books, because then when a new book comes out, things are going to change, and your mush will have to change with it and it's like nothing the players did can really /matter/.
Which is part of why I was going with a wholly original world for this project, that is now retired indefinitely.
-
RE: Previously Mutants & Masterminds MUX, now a Question! DUN DUN DUN!
Due to starting a new job, all of my projects are on the backburner indefinitely as I won't have a lot of spare time, and definitely not enough to run anything. While I might be able to code it up eventually the chances of me being able to sufficiently admin something are very slim.
It's a definite financial upgrade however, and I can't not take it, so until my writing becomes profitable enough to the point I can live off it alone...
Well unless that happens soon by the time I have enough time to run something again the hobby might no longer really exist.

RE: New forum version
@Glitch Ok the notifications pop up and the chat pop ups are still not a good color for dark backgrounds yet.
-
RE: An-E-May
@Cirno I have watched it, but I haven't finished all of it yet. I have so much anime to watch that sometimes I get distracted (Shakes a fist at DRAMAtical Murder, I will finish you some day!)

RE: An-E-May
@Bobotron I hated Basara. Everything else was ok, I just hated that character and how inane he was.
-
RE: New forum version
@Glitch I think it's because the pop up window is all white, and the text for those is also very pale. For some reason the dark background settings don't change the text to dark when the background is pale.
-
RE: An-E-May
@Bobotron I haven't seen the preview yet, but I will watch it religiously, cuz macross... and because Frontier made me forgive them for 7.
-
RE: New forum version
@Glitch With the new version, darker background settings make popup windows unreadable. I don't know why, but I've tried darkly, slate, and another I can't remember the name of and they all do the same thing. The window to click down to next unread post? Completely white, can't read what's in it. Same with new notifications it is very difficult (if not impossible depending on the color scheme) to see what the notification actually is.
Kind of a pity because I prefer dark background with white text.

RE: An-E-May
Black Bullet I found to be surprisingly good.
Knights of Sidonia (Rather interesting setting there, unusual art style, wasn't sure I was going to like it but the intro song for season 1, awesome)
Hitsugi no Chaika (Chaika the coffin princess, two seasons)
Brynhildr (Also had good intro music for first half, but awesome story)
Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in dungeons? (World's longest title, great fantasy anime)These are all within the past year or so iirc
Noragami is coming out with season 2, season 1 was great there too.

This.
Do not worry of fairness. Someone will accuse you of being unfair. Maybe you are, and maybe you aren't, but it is largely situational. Further, it is more important to have a fair outcome than to be a fair person.
Many of us have been down this road before. There is a large difference between being fair and acting fair. The first is a matter of perception; the second is a matter of judgment.
When you are in the position of building a game, you can either build what you want, or what you think players will want. Personally building what I think players will want has always been a soul sucking experience because the 'players' want stuff that isn't good for them, the game, or the story.
Any good GM/ST/DM has to be able and willing to say 'No.' or games will rapidly fall apart, a MU* is no different, in fact with the number of players that a MU* can acquire it'll probably fall apart even faster than a table top would become monty haul.
Sometimes monty haul is awesome fun, if everyone is into it, but when it comes to game decisions trying to rule by committee... or democracy... I have never seen end well.
Have a vision. Build it. Make it what you want and people will either play and enjoy it, or they won't, but at least you're being true to yourself, and having fun making a game you love.

RE: Previously Mutants & Masterminds MUX, now a Question! DUN DUN DUN!
I'm not doing a story only game. There are plenty of those already, where people can go and write stories with other people playing characters that are their own or not theirs at all. I don't personally have anything against such a game, it's just not my cup of tea.
I like system.
I like rules saying that someone can and cannot do a thing.
I like characters with limits other than writers fiat.
I like the risk and the reward that comes with /not knowing/ the outcome of a thing until the dice (Or whatever system it is, playing cards, whatever) say so.This isn't a knock on consent based games, it's just not what I want to build. If M&M doesn't work for what I want (As it may not with the 3rd edition changes) then I will use a different system. Maybe I will use Savage Worlds, or maybe I will hack Fate, or maybe I will hack old school Aberrant (That'd be a major hack) but the game I am building will have a system to determine outcomes other than mutual consent.
There's plenty of game systems that can be used, and I will find, alter, or create one (if I have to) for my game.
Part of this is because while I am using a super hero theme, I am not building on the DC or Marvel continuity where people seem to never stay dead because I believe that it leads to storylines lacking gravitas if there is no permanence.
Just my opinion.

RE: Previously Mutants & Masterminds MUX, now a Question! DUN DUN DUN!
@JDCorley Because without dice there is nothing other than glorified cowboys and indians. There is nothing but consent. Consent is great for just telling stories, but there is /nothing/ nail biting or exciting about consent. There is nothing that gives any sense of achievement to consent. There is no risk, and without risk there can be no reward.
