I've been watching The Strain. Kind of like a vampire/zombie/epidemic thriller. Really fast paced, and easy to watch.

I hate watch this show. It's so bad, omg. I mean if you enjoy it, more power to you, but omg. XD

I wanted to like it, but I didn't. It was just bad!

@Ghost said in The 100: The Mush:

To 100 staff: Stop running games and opening mushes unless you are willing to let others craft the story and affect the metaplot. No one wants to hang around a railroad to support your characters in fulfilling your stories. This kind of behavior will contribute to souring an already dying and difficult hobby.

I think telling people not to make games is a sure fire way to bring your doomgloom about. Seriously, its perfectly fine to criticize people for the mistakes they make. I think these staffers made quite a few, and though I'll blame RL for me fading out initially, a lot of those choices probably contributed to me not returning.

But I have to say, it seems like an epic fucking lack of perspective if you think that just because you feel (and I even concur to a certain extent, though nearly as far as you and others have said) they hogged a bit too much of the lime light, they shouldn't have made the game in the first place. Seriously? Its not like anyone has been accusing them of being the kind of crazy malicious mean people that sometimes do end up in charge of MUs. They make games they want to play, and then lose a bit of perspective as to just how inclusive they're being. I didn't see once that they tried to shut people out. In fact, even as some seriously negative players were bitching, those players still got to rise up as far as I saw.

They made a game that for the most part, a lot of people enjoyed. They added something to the community, however short lived. I hope they make more games, hopefully better games. Perhaps I'll even play one of them. But its not a crime to want to play the labor of love you've put together.

Frankly most crazy I saw on this game, were the people who playing there, yet went on and on about how this was just like the last game and how they were still hogging everything. At which point I had to wonder what pathology would make anyone who seriously thought this couple was the worst, would still come and play on their game and keep playing there, all the while paging people about how bad it was. (My response was pretty much 'you should probably leave, then'.) That's dysfunction.

despite many of the PC's at the time being all for hunting down and raiding the Grounders and wanting revenge or retribution for so and so being captured or hurt by the Grounders.

Really? Because I wasn't around for the Adult PCs/Mountain Men storylines. But I was there for the initial grounder stuff. What I recall is everybody wanting to nut hug the Grounders, and sympathizing and excusing them every step of the way.

I'm with @Kestrel, I had fun on this game. It wasn't perfect, but I really didn't get the sense that Staff was out to play with just themselves and their friends. I did think that it'd be better if one of the staffers didn't play quite such a leader style character, but on the other hand every time someone else pushed for a different direction it seemed to me he was more than willing to let them. It was less a question of take all the spotlight than just anyone push the story.

Anyway, @Kestrel, you were fun. See if I don't come across you elsewhere. Currently the only place I'm playing is Arx, and its still in development.

I don't think OOC rooms are cesspools. I don't miss having one on Arx, but I never found them to be problematic either. There might be problematic players in them, but frankly, that just allows me to know who to avoid.

"You are what you eat." Disciplines in Vampire will be learned through how you play. Feed from the homeless, or shunned from society? You will learn obfuscate.
The Camarilla, the Beast, and more may have changed or shifted in meaning or operation.

So people keep playing VtM because they weren't a fan of how the themes had been reworked in Requiem. So you're going back to VtM to redefine.. the themes again.

I'm fully on board with updating VtM, especially cleaning up all of the oWoD mechanics and systems which are frankly a bitch to play with compared to CoD. There's ton of things in the themes that could use a clean up as well, because when you have a sprawling universe coherency will go out the window. This is a great opportunity to streamline things.

But for fucks sake, don't touch the core ideas that keep people playing the fucking game.

@Kireek I didn't know you, hardly spoke to you OOCly, but I will say that I did get a great kick out of our scenes together. I've always enjoyed antagonistic relationships, and our characters sure had that. I was kind of looking forward to seeing how it would play out once the game left the sandboxy Alpha stage.

      Updated for Arx.

I've been playing on and off since pretty much the start of Alpha, but recently work has been crapping on me so my availability is way less. That said, I hope that'll pass and I'll once more be back to ruining everybody's day on a more regular basis.

So finally finished Stranger Things. I loved it! Looking forward to next season.

I tried to watch the first episode of Night Of, but I realized I just wasn't in the mood for another depressing crime story.

Sorry. Launch the product first. Let me evaluate the reviews. Then I might buy in.

Much this. More, I prefer to wait a couple of years for the expansion/the DLCs too. Game becomes way cheaper by then, and most importantly all the fucking bugs are gone.

Especially true with Total War games. Man I love them, but fuck if I'm willing to endure all the bullshit crashes at launch.

As a comment in general, though: something can be great and still not do it for you; and some things can be awful and still entertain certain people.

@Coin , out of respect of the decade and a half we've known each other, I gave Dark Matter and Continuum a second chance, and a few more episodes.

      Actually, Dark Matter got better.

Continuum you're still fucking crazy to love. Its average. Sure, Dark Matter is kinda average, too, but the characters grow on you, as does the plot.

By the way, what do people think about Stranger Things? I just caught the first episode. Blast from Seven Spielberg style 80s sci-fi past, eh? Im gonna have to try the second episode.
