We will have to agree to disagree on that point. I understand your position, but if a player came up with the idea and a player is scheduling it and a player is running it, then in my book it's a player-run plot.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I'm just saying once it systemized to the point staff are involved, even if to okay, its not completely player run. Technically, yes, if they do all the work. My PrPs are still what I do for fun with anyone willing to do it with me, regardless of reward/outcome/system.

These days my policy is just "run what you want, just don't wreck the theme."

I think this should be a golden rule, its up there with RP Sparkle and Internet Drama and you! Have fun, don't wreck the them.

@Thenomain @Coin OK, I get it. I think we just have different terminology, possibly because of different MU sub-cultures or something. Dunno. To me, a player-run plot is just that - a plot (i.e. something more than bar/social RP) done by a non-staff player. The degree to which PrPs are managed/restricted/scheduled varies wildly from game to game, though. And I agree - it's really annoying when you have to file forms in triplicate and schedule things 2 weeks out just to fight some Cylons. Spontaneous shenanigans are fun. If you don't want the potential for interruption, grab a TP room.

Once managed/restricted/scheduled its no longer player run, if it needs approval its out of the hands of the players.

Though everyone still calls it PrP, and puts it on policies. 'PrPs are welcome, after you dot the i's, cross the t's and staff okay it.' On those places, I usually just run my own PrPs anyway, non approval, and stick to the golden rule, if it doesn't change the meta of the game in anyway, it should be fine. I pay the price, if they offer rewards only if approved, I don't get the rewards. So, plug for FS3 concept of XP per week for just being there and time spent on game/approved!

And inversely, I've seen a few places in the past half decade crop up with the policy, 'page before entering a public room on the grid if others are present' ... I guess the meta of how we play and what is common courtesy is just changing. I still think if you're on the grid, you're in public. And at the same time, see why the policy was created cause, like when I'm in a public place, WoD setting, and we've posed the sun rising, and vampire Joe shows up and poses without asking what's going on.

See, in the days before PrPs, people would either get together and have something happen and that leads to something else happening and so on or so forth, or staff would. I do not like the concept of PrPs for reasons above, but to re-state in this context are because they seem to be formulaic and that's not what I'm into.

This ... will always be a PrP to me, a plot run by players for themselves and friends in lack of staff plots, or in place of when staff plots are usually not going when I play.

The current PrP more seems to be players assuming ST like positions in light of fewer staff on places in general it seems.

I usually go out and start rping, developing PrPs on the fly in response to what others and my own PC seem to be doing. Getting them into trouble and, sometimes, getting them out of it.

RP seems to come with enough effort without having to spend too much time seeking it.

    • RE: In Science News:

There is only one piece of traceable evidence in the article, the scientist Frank L. Rice. Who does Fibromyalgia research. Scientific articles suggest he pinpointed the origin of pain related to fibromyalgia in 2013, the last bundle of his publications are from this time.

That the article only has his name once and doesn't mention more sources, such as his team, his collaborators, or the institutions they work for, it's questionable. Most scientific articles are written by the scientist themselves, they give themselves credit, and their institutions, and any grantors usually. This doesn't mean some scientific journal editor didn't attend a talk by Dr Rice and that is the skew he took from the talk. But it is questionable and one should wait for more articles to appear in less questionable sources, like on-line editions of print journals with high distribution rates.

      @bored

On realms the number of folks that went over two-three alts could be counted on one hand. I can only think of 2 specific that neared the limit. The only time two alts were in same scene that I recall, is when it was end of one in scene and beginning of next, like jousting in same scene or Arthur's gift giving. We contemplated watching for alts .... one in house, another marrying in and having two in same house Or one as HoH, the other trying to marry a HoH. Never got there. There was never any direct benefit between alts. Which is curious from the high limit, but luck probably favored the non-longevity of trying KAP.

      @DownWithOPP

Merlin had logged in a couple of times to the new place. Our char bits didn't hold any key positions. Completely removed as wiki admin. I was on the final week dark, spoke with Nimue daily, who has me e-mail. I responded to pm's here. Misunderstanding I'll go with, but could of let Merlin know, who was around and has talked with new staff after the move.

Talk about a dick move ....

The db was given over freely so the game could continue, the new staff said old staff could stay. I don't care, I'm not going along, I'm on to new other things.

But literally less than a week after the move .... my co-head staff that helped spur the idea to try the place, helped build stuff on the wiki ... the same one that get me going to give password for the god bit and get the right db back up to the new head staff was removed from royalty and locked in the freezer for no apparent reason when they were still trying to help?

I don't care about the game and how it changes, its out of my hands, but the same ooc mistreating people from the new administration ...

      Yes.

It creates spawns for each world, not for all your window into one.

And yes, that setup takes anything with the word pages in it and throws it into the spawn.

Edit: I don't use spawns, nor spellchecker. Just showing how to do it, not the best way to do it.

Here you go .... spawn is done in global events, this has the window showing how it was set up and in the background you can see potato client with the spawned window (it goes below your normal world tabs).

I would like to see an OTT/multi game/genre Mu* that uses a home brew version of the recent'ish 6d6 system (http://tinyurl.com/j8a2mxo) that is balanced towards a mu* environment. Because I might want a western one day and Hong Kong Action the next.

It seems like a mess, the charsheet, but its pretty simple. If you played Cthulu, you'll get the way the dice work at least.

There is a 1 page how-to-play (http://knightlytales.wdfiles.com/local--files/game-system/gk-pendragon-howto.pdf), and its really that simply. A chunk of the sheet does into the concept of traits and passions, the real heart of the game.

But yes, I recommend it regardless, its a great system, lots of good info in the book both on historical period and the literature its inspired from.

You know, that might be worth a smidge of glory even, posting what happened with a trait, how it was rolled (virtue fail to vice roll and playing the outcome). Nothing more than a point or two for amusement value (and fame for letting the story get out there).

Yes, timelines in their for the families, figured players would like more to build off of for past than xd20 multiplied by one hundred for starting glory. Added in the early years of the Great Pendragon Campaign to bring us to our starting time.

I so hope people actually play out some of their traits and passions, especially the failed virtue rolls (and check on vice, to get a crit!). The best stories always come out of failed rolls on most games I've played, and they have failure belt right into the system

Thanks ThatGuyThere, spouse blessing sounded like something a knight got from marriage in helping maintain their manors and holdings, and I think in prior editions, or a supplement, one would make stewardship for managing economics in winter phase.

Woman's gifts are not in the game, and nether are inherited traits by family, simply because the random bits in char gen can create some disparities between players.

Currently, lady's are presently using the basic knight chargen sans knightly profession skills. Likewise so are commoners. Altered it a little, because someone will always want a commoner. Opted for craft and profession. Chirurgery, Industry and Fashion are out, but can easily fall under craft and profession .... fashion in craft, someone can certainly help apply accessories and such, help with hair, fashion as a profession, the dressmaker can do their thing. Industry to either, doing something that gains fame, making that tapestry for the king via craft, the lutist playing at a special event, can gain glory for these characters. Chirurgery goes into profession, as long as its specified in the app process (this one is a hard choice, because if affects wounds and healing and making it off the battle field in one piece, especially when your minor injury goes critical cause the squire put his finger into the hole and made it worse).

That all said, there is an expressed interest by a small majority to put in the actual lady chargen, but woman would not be required to go that route. Female knights still welcome, and lady's can go more towards the 'man' side, not trying to make that distinction. This would be optional, not required. As females can do normal male chargen, males can opt to do female chargen if they like. I hate using gender specifics, but its time period appropriate. And the chargen is pretty simple right now, not hard to to mirror it out and make a sheet template that populates based on the chargen one chooses to look like the lady char sheets versus the standard knight sheet.

Literally, playing by ear in alpha to see how it goes. Working out chargen ideas and seeing how to work on planning for winter phase to make it run quickly behind the scenes.

In current core, the only bonus one gains from a spouse is that they net each other's glory just once. The spouse bonus may be from the supplement, such as Book of Manors or Book of Estates; not looking to include these. The only inference currently is wife's stewardship may be used, and this goes both ways, I imagine the higher of the two would be used feasible. Still an experiment, not sure how folks will adapt to rapid timeline and Winter Phase. If they really get into home upkeep, Book of Estates may be worth a look, and if the bonus was in there, it wouldn't be denied.

Sorry all, unexpected popularity of the place so far, I was expecting a couple a day, not for it to fill up so fast.

We are using 5.1 rules, these are the easiest to maintain, Greg Stafford still has the PDF available for sale.

We start in 514, up to this point, its the Great Pendragon Campaign yes. Female knights are allowed yes. We will follow this campaign, but will allow for changes once we get under way. We're not going grand scale. We're starting in Salisubry, everyone is picking from the 20 starting manners, basic starting rules for 5th edition.

Misadventure, depends what you're referring to by having the other's blessings? No direct mechanic in this system involving blessings for spouses. But maybe you're meaning something I would know under a different context?

Thanks for the replies, if I decide to pay a little, I might try skynethosting.net. I was considering biting the bullet to remove ads on wikidot alone, but that seems like a better deal if I can get the recurring discount.

That one sounds attractive for that price.

The Realms Adventurous is a game of high fantasy, low magic, set in the time of King Arthur Pendragon. Utilizing the rules of the same name, we seek to follow the dynastic stories of knights and their families, the nobles and ladies of the courts. Chargen is open to members of other classes, commoner and clergy alike. We plan to have regularly scheduled events aside from just feasts and tournaments, but these will occur regularly as well. If you want to partake in knightly adventures, mystical quests, battles of conquest and glory, and possibly indulge in courtly intrigue, we may have what you seek.

We are currently opening for alpha phase play. The systems are still being hammered out, but chargen is up and running and basic systems allow for play already. Our center of play is in line with the core rule book, we are focused on the county of Salisbury and our PC knights and nobles will be vassals of Earl Robert, son of Roderick de Salisbury. We start play in 514, on the heels of Arthur’s victory over Lot and the twelve renegade kings. It is the eve of his wedding to Gwenevere as we begin play.
