RE: Earning stuff
@faraday For sure. I dont think FS is a bad system, I think it does what it does very well and if all else provides a good launching point for anyone that wants to start a MU but cannot afdord for custom code. They can get use FS3 to get it started and either mod it or replace it down the road.
-
RE: Earning stuff
@faraday lol.
For me as a player one of the main reason I don't play your system is that it has very little in the way of mechanical progression. I am huge into RP and character developement but I still want to play a game and other system (such as tabletops) have much more progression for me to sink my teeth into. I also use a system's mechanics to help define my character and FS3 is sort of the opposite way around and that is difficult for me to do. Still find it LOL worthy that people thunk people got more or less than anyone else in a FS game tho

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@lithium well in later seasons this is true but for all we know as viewers at first they are just regular guys. (And there are plenty of mortal splats that are more than mortal as well) and yes but to different degrees. And I still think its quite easy to do that and neccisary to a degree. But I also err on the side of a player enjoying themselves over hard application of theme (note I say err not fully support).
-
RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@lithium By contend I mostly mean able to decently defend themselves not neccisarily match or overpower. Should they? Not really no but if you have been in the wod community the main arguments are about mortal vs. Super and how underpowered mortals are. I think this is somewhat valid. Not everyone wants to play the wiley wit heavy mortal. They wanna play Dean Winchester, not Sam. I am judt using some general terms and ideals to try and get my point across.

RE: Earning stuff
@arkandel when it comes to items outside of CG i think earning things thru rp is a good rhing. It helps promote an rp rich environment amd helps keep out folks that just want to make badass characters without rping

And let's be honest, if people got Staff to cave on adding a few equipment items from those books, then they'd start wanting more. And more.
And then you said...

Some of the merits are fine and in fact there is two concepts in particular that are so suboptimal as to be useless in wod without the fs merits provided in armory reloaded.
Also your use of the word "suboptimal" just tells me you want some of the broken toys to make some crazy min-max characters with.
Except my crazy broken toys I would want is sword and shield and spetzna (which yes that one is a little broken but is the only viable way to make a knife using mortal that can contend with supers). So how about rather than throwing shade at individuals as discussion topics we regard ourselves to the contents of the books and take your unfounded remarks to hogpit? K thanks.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@rucket most of the gear in the armory books is fine. The merits are different. Some of the merits are fine and in fact there is two concepts in particular that are so suboptimal as to be useless in wod without the fs merits provided in armory reloaded. There is tons of item content that is not covered in the corerule book, why do you think armory was so quickly releeased after the core rulebook. Rulebook was designed to have enough items to run a basic mortal horror story. Armory was designed for more invovled long running campaigns.

RE: Gamifying Plots
@arkandel I wouldn't say its subjective. Difficult to distuniguish at times sure but definately not subjective. TBH as a new player on a game it isnt hard at all to spot the groups from the cliques, mostly it is only difficult from Staff bc they dont interact with players in the same fashion as other players do.
-
RE: Helpful Spellcasting Flowchart
@arkandel @Alzie hehe. But seriously thanks this thing is much easier than trying to go thru the book to remeber this crap
-
RE: Gamifying Plots
@arkandel its a little more than that. Clqiues tend to be groups that alienate players that are not part of their group, have high barriers for entry, and tend to give far too many fucks about other groups or individuals to the point of bullying.
-
RE: Gamifying Plots
@bad-at-lurking my problem with the inherent idea od 'put solo players at the back of the que' is that if those solo players never get their scenes they have paid for done in a timely fashion you are defacto proclaiming cliques to be the preferred type of playerbase on your game and cliques rarely create a healthy environment in a MU when encouraged.

I was thinking more the difference between people who form varied groups by need, vs an established scooby gang. How you reward things will shape what players do. At the point here you want everyone to be in a gang, just say so, and move on with the premise that they will be in a gang.
I am a person that likes to do this. I make IC connections with lots of characters and get to know their strengths and weakness and thrn when i get an ST I build my AYeam as needed per plot. I like to play the Charlie character, the solo character that tracks down the leads then goes and grabs the peeps to get a mission done once the investigation phase is over. Or even multistage. I bring Tom and Sue along for the investigation stuff but once it is time to face the big bad Tom and Sue go back to their coffee shop and I grab Synthia and Bill for the deadly risky work.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@thatonedude thats literally bashing it, just polietly. Just because you say something in a nice way does not change the point of your post. To submit your feelings that 2e is a better rule system than 1e
Eta: totes just stole that gif tho

RE: A New Star Wars game? (Legends of The Old Republic (Name pending))
@mr-johnson i am sure if you reached out to the coders here they could help you get a better grasp of what ever it is you are having prpblems with.
-
RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@thatonedude can I make a request that people quit comparing 1e to 2e? We get it lots of people prefer 2e, thats fine. This is a 1e game, allow it to exist as a 1e game and just talk about the merits of the MU not the ruleset it is using. My arfuments are not bashing on the ruleset they are about the books that are not being used. Please just stop bashing 1e, some of us prefer it over 2e, and I am tired of reqding about people cluttering an ad about it.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@autumn thank you for better articulating the point I was trying to get across.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@sunny I half disagree. Sure WoD games are not entirely about gear, but gear (material things and wantinf those things) is a core facet in a lot of concepts, storylines, and drama. Saying WoD is not about gear is like saying DnD is not about roleplay.
-
RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@flitcraft but there is other types of gear that is not covered in the core rulenook. A tabletop game is about options. No one said you had to take the best option amd I rarely take the 'best' i take the option that most fits this concept. If you remove my options why do I want to play?

@darc there is plenty of not broken fighting merits that make certain concepts valid (such as sword and board). Without the sword and shield fighting style a sword and bpard build is almost impossible to use.
Also are you just not using the merits or the whole of the books?
The whole of the books.
How are we supposed to have gear then? I think I might have to step away from this game until there is some other decisions made.
