@lithium It was SO GOOD. They had to make a few changes to the Poirot character, but nothing immersion breaking and it actually works out BETTER in the end and is truer to the book Poirot than the '74 version.

I wouldn't mind tinkering around with one, at least initially. Get a feel for the system/game by having something mostly set up for me already.

@Misadventure I'm not a millennial pansy that needs a 'safe space' from 'scary words', so no.

@skew YAY! Although, I was kinda looking forward to the STD thing. I was even gonna go all Hudson Hawk with it and have her code name be an STD... sigh Oh well, at least there's science!!!
And thanks. I've often thought that about a lot of games and the differing factions. There always seems to be one or two along the way that just don't draw interest for one reason or another. Seems prudent in those cases to NPC the faction so the others can still deal with them when necessary without making staff have to figure out how to make it work in a PC-less faction.

RE: The Apology Thread
None of the above. Its that he didn't really believe that 'IC was IC' and that OOC communication was a bad thing. He would express frustrations to me about the player of the character his was ICly pursuing wouldn't 'communicate' with him OOCly about how their IC relationship was going... while at the same time telling me that he 'doesn't talk OOCly about the direction his character is taking and leaves it all to IC'. Clearly he didn't, or he wouldn't have been trying so hard to communicate with someone else OOCly about their IC relationship. His saying 'I keep the IC in IC' is just his way of stringing people along until he's done with them, then getting all huffy and affronted when they express anger and frustration with him.
In short, he acted like Spider. He manipulated and played people, then cast them aside when he was done, and worse, treated them like they were the mean ones for getting upset about it. His apologies were never apologies, they were 'I'm sorry you took things so badly'. Because apparently treating people in a way that he himself doesn't like, is not his fault. Its theirs, for being too sensitive, or taking the game too seriously, or having other unspoken issues that made them feel that way.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
@sg I loved Sammy J. in that one. And I pretty much love all things John Goodman. But yes. GREAT movie to watch when you want something mindless. Also, credits endscenes tugged the heartstrings.

Yeah, sorry... I have to agree with @Misadventure on this one, the dismissiveness here is a bit much.
PTSD is a real thing, and if people could control what sets it off, I'm pretty sure 'those millennial pansies' be much happier about it than the people who are in proximity when it's set off and feel the need to look down on them for having a delayed emotional reaction to trauma.
Agree all you want. I will totally answer dismissively when asked if I was 'triggered' by a mean person on the internet. If I couldn't handle someone being a jackass on a game, I would have lost my mind decades ago. And considering I've been gaming RL and online since my early teens... I would say I'm doing okay. Angry? Absolutely. Triggered? ....AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I will admit, my job forces me to multitask constantly. I have to be able to look at the computer while writing something on a document, and able to hear what my boss is now telling me I have to do. Bonus points for often having a live driver RIGHTTHERE wanting me to do something for them too. SO. If I am actively doing something when they approach, I will, without looking up from my work, tell them 'I will be with you in a moment'. Just a quick acknowledgement of their presence while I finish this current task. I have found this is very appreciated. People are much more willing to wait for a few minutes if they've been acknowledged. THAT SAID. Half of these fuckers come up to my window already on the phone with someone else and THAT annoys the shit out of me. I shouldn't have to repeat myself three times just because your 'boo' is on the line. 'Boo' can fucking wait 30 seconds so I can get my spiel out and then you can chat with him/her/it all the livelong fucking day. Otherwise, take a step to the side and let me deal with the person behind you while you finish your conversation, asshole.

@Lithium Sorry to see you go. I was actually wondering what happened to Samson, because I enjoyed the one scene I ended up having with him as Grey.
@Miss-Demeanor If you played Mikaela (as is my assumption based on your posts), I would say that the antagonism that you were concerned about early on has lessened. It's not gone, but we never want the friction between characters to be gone, because if there's no friction, there's no story. Now, clearly some other former players agreed with your concerns, and we are continuing to course-correct as needed. For instance, we closed down apps for outright rebels against the Council/Chancellor for a while, because they're rather thick on the ground right now.
I actually do anticipate us polling players more formally at various points in the game to get their take on things, but we also chat OOCly with players (new and "long-time" -- I put quotes around that because the game is still only a month or so old) quite frequently to get their impressions of the game.
In line with Ixokai's comment, Andromeda and I (Orion) are happy to talk to any player who has questions, concerns, or just wants to check in.
If you poll people as often as you claim, then why did you not know about this? Why is this just now a thing? And frankly, having brought up my concerns to you and Andromeda and having seen zero improvement or really even any apparent attempt to curb this behavior, I lack any confidence in your 'continued' ability to actually take seriously any questions or concerns anyone actually does bring to your attention. You certainly showed mine none, and continue to do so. You acknowledge that there's an overabundance of 'rebel' characters, but do nothing at all to actually address the current rebels. That doesn't actually fix anything. Closing apps prevents even MORE, but it fixes nothing.

RE: The Apology Thread
@GangOfDolls There was no dogpile. If you'll look back, its mostly me condemning the 'apology', and two others defending it and/or dissecting my responses. Dogpile infers a group of people all rushing to agree on the same conclusion. And again, given that I'm one of the people treated poorly by said original poster, I believe its well within my rights to call him out when I believe that apology to be insincere. I'm not going to 'cut him slack' just because he made it public. I don't believe his intentions were even good, I believe they were entirely self-serving, as he has shown himself to be across many years. It was the spirit and the letter of the law that I was calling out.

RE: The 100: The Mush
@faraday Poor example. This isn't people wanting to play on Hoth intead of Tattoine. This is people not wanting to play in that alien-controlled terribad settlement ON Tattoine and instead wanting to go play out in the sand. Since the game has yet to even introduce the Mountain Men, if they can't handle a splinter group going off into the woods, they're doomed regardless. Given that the show itself branches out FROM the settlement, if there was never any intention of allowing for movement outside the settlement, I'll bet a LOT of players are going to be disappointed. This is a setting that both encouraged and cautioned people wandering about on their own. 'Go ahead, but Explore At Your Own Risk'
@GirlCalledBlu I can appreciate that you want to keep things centralized, but it sounds like most of the plot is STILL being centered only around the most proactive people, which doesn't lend much credence to your worries. If plot already largely stays within a set group, wringing your hands and saying 'but if they leave, the plot will only go to this group that's already getting the majority of the RP' doesn't mean a whole lot to those people already feeling left out. At least if they splinter, they can be off on their own without being made to feel they HAVE to contribute to a society that gives nothing back in return.
@Monogram You know what else can keep a game going? Disseminating plot points to as many people as possible through means OTHER than simply being in the previous plot scene or having to interact with someone they may have already received poor treatment from. This was a thing that was brought up on TR. People complained about getting no plot. So staff started making general bbposts and announcements letting their spheres know about stuff that was happening. When people continued to whine about no plot, staff was able to point to the posts and announcements and say 'it was made public, you could have put in a request, you could have asked for a scene, this is what we explicitly offered in these posts'. It didn't stop the complaints, obviously, but it gave everyone equal OPPORTUNITY to join.
Keep in mind, I've made my choice. There is nothing on earth that could entice me back to this game. I've lost any faith in the staff that I had. But I also recognize that others may not have made quite such final decisions. If this game is ever going to be more than a sandbox for the people already there and involved, then the wants, opinions, and suggestions of others need to be given weight and credit. Otherwise, just call it a goddamn sandbox so nobody mistakes it for anything else.

RE: RL things I love
@auspice Yep, that's kinda the boat I'm in too. One of the managers is in his 50's, the other two are late 30s to early 40's, one guy that works with us is in his late 40's... but I'm older than everyone else... including my direct supervisor, who is 27. So yeah, the ability to hold conversations in THEIR areas of interest has helped. And donuts. I bring in donuts like, once a month. They love it.

RE: The 100: The Mush
@Apos I would agree. As much as I hate to say it because it sounds terrible... more and more I'm coming back to the idea that staff really shouldn't play in the sphere they staff for. Or in the case of The 100, they shouldn't have placed so much emphasis on their own PC's.
Over and over again, these days I keep running into staff that are now more involved and interested in what their own PC's are doing over what they're supposed to be doing as staff. Plots, jobs, even answers to time sensitive questions will get put on hold while they give themselves a new shiny for their PC.
I won't say it's all staffers, because it isn't. But it's enough of them that it's getting almost... expected wherever I go now, that staff will be more interested in their own story than helping to further anyone else's. There's relatively little point to playing a character in a sphere (especially a supernatural/post-apoc/whatever type of sphere that is outside the usual) if all you're ever going to get is 'slice of life' RP.
And yes, before anyone says it, yes, there ARE prp's... which can only go so far without staff approval. If staff is neglecting jobs for their own fun, however, that means that approval isn't happening anytime soon. And that means more 'slice of life' RP while you wait.
