@aria You really don't notice the wig so much in the scenes where she's in the water or wet from just exiting the water.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Went to the local Amazon Prime preview of Aquaman
It's good. Maybe not as good as the hype, but still almost as good as Wonder Woman.
Another step in the right direction for DC movies.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
@zombiegenesis Agreed.
Pro-tip: The Wikipedia entry contains a non-essential but still pretty heavy spoiler right out in the open.
But, with the new 'Trinity Continuum' rules also released to backers on PDF over the weekend, I'm in the mood for some Abberant

RE: Is there a game about...
@kumakun I'm crossed between Macross and Invid as well (shut up Dana). Although, doing a Sentinels game could be a fun mix; REF vs. Invid, remenents of the Masters, & rogue Zentraedi.

RE: Is there a game about...
@kumakun The question would also be 'Which Generation?'
'Savage RIFTS' can also provide a blueprint for converting Palladium Robotech to Savage Worlds, making it more MU-freindly.

RE: General Video Game Thread
Just finished the main quest for PS4 Spider-Man.
This pretty much sums everything up.

RE: The Witcher Pen and Paper RPG
@zombiegenesis Haven't looked through it yet, but it's from R. Talsorian, so it's probably going to use either their Fuzion or Interlock (Cyberpunk) game system. Both are decent, easy to learn systems.

RE: Cyberpunk Red
@thenomain Not so much around Cybergen, but definately around v3, yeah. Remember at that time he wasn't just trying to keep RTG afloat during a downturn in the RPG industry, he was paying the bills by coding for Microsoft (ironically, his big project was the Crimson Skies game for X-Box, adapted from the FASA game). So, the time around v3 was really stressful and burning the candle at both ends for him.

RE: Cyberpunk Red
@thenomain I think Cybergeneration came about as something for Mike to run for his son Cody without the usual excessive sex, violence, and betrayal found in a 2020 game; especially the excessive amounts found in a game run by Mike himself.
And yeah, 3rd Edition was an attempt to mold ALL THE THINGS the Cyberpunk genre had become by then; and the eternal Quixotic quest of all cyberpunk games to better integrate netrunning/decking/hacking into the game without spending an hour of game time on, essentially, a side quest for one player at the table.
Definitely looking forward to Red, and 2077.

RE: Message from White Wolf
@bobotron nods. I wasn't following the Paradox stuff closely, since Onyx Path had the WW game relaunches that most interested me.

Message from White Wolf
So, this came across my Facebook feed today...
https://www.white-wolf.com/newsblog/a-message-from-white-wolf
Two big points...
One: We may have taken the whole 'monsters we must be lest monsters we become' thing a bit too far...
Two: The new WW won't be directly publishing or developing anything, anymore. It's all licensing and third party development/publishing.

RE: Bloopers
@surreality Are there any games that use a phone code like that anymore? Lantern Hill had it, but that was years ago.

RE: Bloopers
My epic TS mav was on a Star Trek game (I want to say Anomaly, but I think it was before that). The game had a combadge/intercom system, where you had to 'tap' to turn your combadge off after using it....
Fortunately, another player let me know I was broadcasting before things got too far.

RE: Random funny
@arkandel I actually brought this idea up at a recent gaming convention and someone had the most diabolical response....
The head giving you the instructions and rules is the one that always lies.

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
@zombiegenesis Yup. I've tried to get my crap together to team up with you on a project like that, but keep falling short on my end. Hopefully soon, though...
I think I just need to have a 24/7 loop of Morty telling me to get all my crap together, put it in a backpack, etc., until I'm finally good.

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
I'd love to see a Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Ed game. I know that Comic Book/Superhero games are overwhelmingly freeform in chargen and gameplay, rather than using one of the various TT systems. And part of this, IMO, is that games like Champions and M&M are toolbox systems to build anything and keep everyone in relative balance And that makes for a steep learning curve for new players. But, the two new Heroes Handbooks for M&M 3e (Basic HH & Advanced HH) gives players a new Archetype option for chargen that makes the process much faster and helps develop understanding of the system. Just a couple of branching choices to help determine the character's focus, and you have a fully legal, statted, and effective character in about 20-30 minutes, rather than hours of planning and calculations.

RE: Mixed Superhero Game Ideas
For what it's worth, the more that I play mixed-universe games, the more I find that the disparity in power between Marvel & DC at the higher level characters gets more difficult to reconcile if you're using a numerical stat system. Heavyweights in the Marvel Universe just can't stack up to their DC counterparts. Thor, Hulk, and Juggernaut all top out around 100 tons of lifting, while Superman, Doomsday, and Wonder Woman surpass that by orders of magnitude. There's only been 1 time that I can think of when a Marvel character displayed DC-level strength, and that was in Secret Wars where the Hulk held up a mountain to keep himself and his companions from being crushed after it was dropped on them.
Yes, most of the times, the strength/power comparisons get handwaved in the comics, especially in the Marvel Vs. DC fights, but that's because the characters so rarely interact. On a MU, you have these characters interacting much more regularly, even if you only do 1 or 2 crossover events a year.
I'm probably in the minority, but I'm fairly burned out on FC super games. A lot of this has to deal with the heavy competition for the big name characters. With OC games, you can create obvious homages, but at least they're your character(s) and you can bring them to life without relying on previous comics canon, current comics storylines, or having to ret-con what a previous player may have done. You're also more free to write your own character without having to worry about how it might affect the prospect of a future player picking the character up at a later date.

RE: Poll: Fantasy Earth 2.0
@zombiegenesis Give Shadowrun: Anarchy a try. Its Catalyst's attempt at Shadowrun using a more rules-light narrative system like Apocalypse World

RE: Comics: Superman as a character
There's an old adage in comics
If superheroes were real...
Superman is who we'd aspire to be
Batman is who we'd secretly wish to be
Spider-Man is who we'd actually be
