    • RE: Star Wars?

When you play by the actual rules, D6 Jedi aren't actually that great until they are fossil characters. In fact, if you're starting from a normal character generation, they're gold bricks for the bulk of a campaign.

The reason they're OP on Mushes is because of poorly thought out house rules like they don't take the attribute hit for their initial force skills or have to seek out teachers for powers. That and straight up CP for +noms is a terrible idea, the system was designed so that an adventure or TP would be worth 3-5 cp rather than the hordes most mushes rain on PCs.

It's a crime that there's only 6 episodes of Derry Girls.

We could have flashes from the past and post random flamewars from rec.games.frp.dnd. Every time I see Improving MSB, I think of one of the trolls of that board, Michael Scott Brown and the petty petty arguments he'd get into when DnD 3.5 came out.

I often wonder if he and Mr. Bane are the same person.

      Holy fucking ellipses, Batman.

Hhahaha, I got yelled at once for asking someone why they abused ellipses so hard, I was wondering what they were leaving out of their poses. RPing with them was like roleplaying with a redacted novel. They said they were an english major and that ellipses were equivalent to a comma.

Ultimately, you will lose more weight -- better weight -- by actually eating more and burning more energy via exercise. And by eating more, I mean eating more healthy food, like vegetables. Because nothing trick fucks your body into burning fat than eating 5 pounds of broccoli and carrots a day, and working out for an hour or so.

I think the trick is to eat more often, rather than more calories. So more frequent, smaller meals so your metabolism is always going.

If they are political rivals but have a healthy respect for each other - for example - or fight their wars mostly through proxies (think Moriarty versus Holmes) it's a different story.

Unless you're into House of Commons Rp, i don't see rival characters like this interacting all that much. Even though Harper and Trudeau shared the same barber, I don't imagine they met up that often for what we'd call RPs type scenes.

Likewise, greasers and soces would very rarely meet up, and when they did, it was usually trouble. They'd all stick to their own cliques for fun RP that interested them.

    • Is there a basics of CG out there somewhere?

This is a part of coding that I've always been curious about. I've kind of half assed figured out a few other things, but character generation seems to be particularly mysterious. I've looked at a few packages that have been posted on mucode.com and it's pretty baffling.

Does anyone know of a resource that kind of walks people through step by step, or have a very simple CG laying around that a neophyte might grok?

    • RE: Best-In-Genre MU*?

@Shayd I think the best games (Lost Generation and Battlestar) I've played on had endgames in mind before they opened their doors. They weren't designed as perpetual motion machines with no end in sight.

I do have fun in some genre games like shadowrun and star wars, but they're basically sandboxes with lasers and magic to me, trying to establish an overarching story that involves all players in such settings seems pointless to me, and I tend to get miffed when I try to do something and am told that Player X from Planet Y is doing that and I have to do it with them. What if I don't like rping with Player X? Why can't we both be scumbag criminals with our own ships and crew?

***=Talk To Your Kids About Bran***

While watching the episode I couldn't help but think Dany reminded me of a preachy vegan who suddenly stops being vegan and is suddenly all the fuck about BBQ and meat everything on social media. I thought it was a strange choice to have it done after the surrender bells, I think the episode would have been stronger if she went ape and then the bells happened, but she didn't care anymore, she's had it with Westerosi bullshit.

Cleganebowl was awesome. Cersei noping out made my day.

It was really neat to see some Stark soldiers finally doing something on screen besides dying like mooks, they really seem to have spent banked xp just to commit those war crimes.

I also loved the scorpion crews just having their smoke breaks while Dany tears through the fleet and city.

Once it's done, I'll go back to continuing to think they lost the battle of winterfel and had to retreat to king's landing for the final battle. Cersei fucks them over, and Dany burns the city down before the white walkers push everyone off of Westeros, and they have to go live in Essos or the Summer Isles.

Personally, if I were in your shoes and haven't rpd with Sam much, I'd just retcon and swap out the names for some NPC that's very Sam-like and get on with life after the first contact attempt failed.

Unless you're into catching up on Farscape while having a mush window open, there's no reason to put your life on hold around someone else's busy schedule, especially if there are other players who'd like to play with you.

Honestly? I got my Cleganebowl. After the rest of the 'twists' they've done, they can't take that back, unless Bran rewinds time and has the hound have a spontaneous stroke walking up all those stairs.

Anyways, my expectations for next episode are so low now, that it's likely I'll enjoy it.

    • RE: Cultural differences between MUDs and MUSHes

      @Ominous

I am referring to people who have told me before "No, you can't be in here at all," when they are RPing in a public room. It's incredibly rare, but it has happened.

Oh man, this happened to me on a battlestar mush before. I was rping with someone, doing some guard duty when a mechanic ran over and flipped out because we were being distracting, which was odd because they were just idling IIRC. We tried to tell them to relax but the gasket was so blown they had a friend(I'm hoping it was a friend and not that player) make up an alt superior officer and have the new alt explicitly order us to never go to the launch bay ever again. The alt superior officer was then never seen again.

She's afraid that our boy isn't going to have as many invitees show up as our girl, and that this will scar him.

As a summer kid, this happened to me a lot. Because school was out, it was difficult to invite people I wasn't already just hanging out with, so my birthday parties were always one or two friends and a bunch of cousins. My siblings, who were born during the school year always had like 20 kids showing up to theirs. This is probably why I don't care about birthdays (beyond the chocolate raspberry cakes) as an adult.

    • RE: Better Places Code

      I'm thinking something like this.

You could have the tables be an object. When you sit at a table, you enter the object and are given the following commands:

Observe: toggles lets you see poses away from your table, that are emitted to the room outside the object. If you don't want to pay attention to outside stuff, you toggle it off and you only see your table.

Quiet: toggles you quiet so your poses only go to your table and obeserving or people not at the table people can't listen in.

When people pose at their table, it emits to the room unless they're being specifically quiet. If people are seated elsewhere and are set !observe they don't see the spam.

Or something like that, I'm not a programmer.

@Arkandel said in What do you eat?:

Do we have vegetarians or vegans in our midst?

What do you guys think about Impossible Foods and manufactured meat in general?

Let's talk food habits more under the scope of how it relates to social or health issues than just what we like to shove into our mouths.

Vegan, I think Impossible Foods and lab grown meat are fantastic things for helping the environment and limiting suffering. Personally, I tend to stay away from things that are accurately imitating meat because I first became vegetarian after working at a deli and think meat's groady, and I've become accustomed to the hockypuck veggie burgers, and really didn't notice the difference at all with hot dogs versus veggie dogs, they both taste like ass, and you drown them in condiments anyways.

Health wise? I think getting away from Dairy has been the best thing I've ever done for my health. My eczema pretty much disappeared, like easily 90% reduced after eliminating dairy.

    • RE: Plotted versus plotless scenes

Unfortuantely, I find myself only with the time for the 3rd, plotless scenes lately. Any time action pops up, I'll bow out because those sorts of scenes will drag on for hours with dice rolls, and people showing up to include themselves because OMG plots! Or one player wanting to include the whole gang because everyone wants to play all of a sudden. This is sad, because my favourites are slice of life scenes that turn into action scenes.

@Ghost Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only consistent thing about organic foods is that they have carbon atoms somewhere in them. Every company seems to have a different definition of what organic is, and it doesn't seem to be regulated in North America like it is in Europe.
