I get a kick out of some of our ESL student/faculty sometimes. Today I was called the Library Officer. I'm working a reference desk, not going over the top!

@ThatGuyThere It's a polish catholic wedding, but if there's no chicken dancing and polka in what I'm invited to, I'm not interested.

Do you have a local library system that would let you use something like Hoopla to check stuff out digitally for free?

While I personally found Hoopla to be a PIA to use, it's great for taking a look at what's out there. Most libraries these days are also developing graphic novel collections, too.

@Auspice Seitan is awesome! I do a holiday loaf for thanksgiving and xmas from the post-punk kitchen and it's really tasty.

I was a fan of pretty much everything Dark Horse did in the 90s. You can probably find them in the $1/issue bins these days, or in graphic novel form.

You can't go wrong with Aliens V Predator stuff. I'm working on basing a mush on it, afterall 😄

The Grendel Tales series were also favourites. If you can look for things done by guest authors, I enjoyed them more than the Matt Wagner stories, but War Child was pretty cool.

80s TMNT was a lot of fun. In tretrospect, I'm very surprised that I'm not a furry after being so into ninja turtles for most of my life. These are easy to find in omnibus forms these days.

The Red Star. I don't remember if the story was any good, but I was really into the art style, and picked up random copies to seed RPG campaigns with.

@Arkandel Eh, can't say I disagree with them.

I don't disagree either, but it's somewhat silly to get up in arms over.

I've been enjoying the hell out of this one on my commute. Who knew human misery born out of ignorance could be so funny?

@Three-Eyed-Crow It just feels like there's some executive producer somewhere purposefully making bad decisions because their kid likes Star Wars and not Star Trek.

@Auspice If there's a university in town, go through after finals when all the kids are moving out. free computer gear as far as the eye can see! Last time I did the tour I got a free stereo, desk, tv, and some spiffy shoes. There were a bunch of computers, too, but I didn't want even more clutter around the house.

But it doesn't take a lot of time to go to a pawn shop, does it?

If you own a car it likely doesn't. Kids that live on campus probably don't want to take 3 trips on the bus carting TVs and furniture across town on public transit.

@surreality Last year, I noticed they did have sorting bins for that kind of thing. LIke electronics/furniture/clothing. I don't know if it went to goodwill or what but they're starting to make a bit of an effort it looks like. Yay trying to get green certified!

@Arkandel I think it's mostly a pet peeve of mine that I rarely encounter smokers anymore, but to watch television, they're everywhere. It weirded me out in BSG as well. You're on a space ship ffs!

@Arkandel this is how you rock the Killjoy disadvantage in GURPS. Now you can spend your afternoons trying to discover what they've used those extra 15 pts on. It sounds like bumping Accounting and Repair up to +2
