I think builders are needed, Fantom's looking for a giant grid and my freetime's been eaten up lately. But now that my parents are all moved into their new place, I hope to finish Tatooine soon.

I prefer OC, not because of the ^^ weirdness, just cause IP is already done, world building done, stories told and such for me.
Yeah, reading their policy it leaves me feeling they only believe people would be cribbing from their licensed setting books rather than just using the GURPS rules for homebrew settings.

Black Panther was sweet. Wakanda Q stole the show.

RE: Tenuous Tie-In or Original Universe?
How about Aliens meets Event Horizon meets Doom?
Set in New Chicago, a terraforming/mining system, a research outpost, our good friends Weyland-Yutani are experimenting with new space fold systems, which (obviously) have awful implications for the colonists.
Looking at the starmap from the game, there's also a system called 'Eyesore,' that could be a lovely locale to set the game in.

Great, time to read through Zweihander again.

RE: Television reviews?
Consumer reports will likely be your best one, though you may have to visit the library to get full access for free. When I was shopping a few years back, i saved about 50% of the sticker price for my TV by getting the dumb version instead of a smart one. I have enough old computers laying around that I could use one of those for streaming, so YMMV.

Also I don't personally enjoy RPing with characters whose main concept is 'a dick to everyone'.
To me, it's not so much I hate RPing with these characters, it's that often there's very little IC reason for most people to do anything with these characters. Like, if I'm planning a shadowrun in the local bar and some complete asshole is in the corner just being a dick, why on earth is it on ME to invite them along? Unless there's some compelling hook, my character is going to look at them and be like, fuck that guy, and move on with their life.
ETA: Places that expect you to play based on meta-knowledge rather than IC knowledge. Yes, I know staff has just told me that shooting the hijacker is a bad move because they're a Sith Lord, but my character just thinks they're a stupid hijacker--why the fuck would they think the stupid hijacker is a Sith Lord? Why is a sith lord wasting their time hijacking a shuttle?

RE: Star Wars: Insurgency
@Bobotron Agreed. I feel that at most a SW game should focus on a sector. Crisscrossing the galaxy to hit the bar or shop for different gear is silly.
I'm on board with the one world thing. You can agitate and recruit like everyone's talking about, and sabotage the means of production, but most of the big time rebel actions should be taking place off planet, most likely in other sectors or nav points in the system, but I like the idea of focusing on one planet quite a bit. I've enjoyed a couple of weeks on Dawn of Defiance, but nobody's ever on the planet I'm on, and I don't have a ship, so I'm shopping for a new game atm.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get around to watching Crank. Came across How Did This Get Made's episode and decided to give it a try. I miss movies that embrace ridiculous premises.

"I just met you, but now I am going to pour out my entire back-story in our first conversation together. Now your turn to do the same!"
There was a guy like this on the train to work today. Like, dude, I have my headphones on and am barely awake. It's really nice that you're new to the country, but I have to go to work at the next stop and I kind of have to number 2, please, just stop talking.

@Auspice said in Legends of the Old Republic - In Progress Star Wars Game:
You'd have players who would play realistically at first....but in the face of those who are all powerful and impossible to defeat, they'd 'power up' to be on a level. On a comic game where FCs are practically gods already this is more manageable (and full traits systems do put in some limitations), but on a SW game where the uberpowerful should be rare? Ehhh.
I feel like players would just have rosters of one or two dimensional characters that they use in this sort of game. I know I'd just go into fights with yet another new rebel soldier who's going to die tragically for the cause, I wouldn't bother having a main, I'd just be concerned with the current scene in a game without sheets or rolls.
That can be good or bad depending on mood, I was kind of excited for a savage worlds star wars, I think there's a lot of fun to be had with that, especially if the Deadlands Duel rules were incorporated for gunfights and lightsaber fights. You could flavour it to sabaac instead of poker or something.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
I think I'd just be happy with someone who didn't insist on going to a fucking farmer's market on D&D day. We can go shopping any day of the week, but you have to have a fit because I don't want to go during the six hours out of the week I have set aside for something I like to do?
I can't believe I've dated two different people like this. Best breakups of my life.

RE: Recycling characters
I think it's generally fine as long as they don't show up with superpowers or anything that ruins the fun for others. I've done it in the past, and I've seen it done well in the past, particularly, when one star wars mush was shutting down, the cast moved over to a new one-I forget the names of the mushes, but that was back when they tended to be more sector specific mushes rather than galaxy ones.

RE: General Video Game Thread
I just wrapped up Shadowrun Hong Kong. I have to say I've really enjoyed this series. SR Returns was probably the low point, but it was still really good. Dragonfall and HongKong had really interesting stories that kept me invested, and some of the side quests were pretty funny.
As a GM, though, I don't understand how issuing frag grenades to building security makes any sense. The damage they must do to furniture and equipment is nuts.
