@Pandora Mostly it's random anime characters than I've never heard of. They were also making fun of a recent session at a conference about fanfic that they said didn't even touch on the basics, which I understand, one of my coworkers had been sorting a fanfic zine collection that had been donated recently, so they're particularly invested in the area. Libraries be weird, yo.

My office just went to the bar during office hours to drink and talk about who they're shipping in what shows.

@Arkandel It's not something I'm proud of, but sometimes I even comment on youtube videos. On my GURPS sheet, I'd have a 1pt disadvantage of Somebody's Wrong On The Internet (6)

I match my partner's pose length almost exactly, because it's fun for me to play that sort of limiter game with my word usage.
I also match their tense and tone if at all possible. Because.
Sometimes if I'm in a mood, I'll do this as a passive aggressive thing. Seriously, ten minute one line responses all the time? Eff that, I can play video games in another window, too.

I still remember poor Lt. Pith taking one in the forehead while offline and 3 trenches away.

Rifts Lost Dominion has a fantastic website CG. While I was going through it, I was wondering why that sort of thing is not more common.

D6 doesn't have a 17% fumble rate. If you roll a 1 on the wild die, the GM has 3 choices, 1: take away the 1 and he highest other die, too. 2: Add them up as normal. 3: add a complication to the skill.

As a lazy introvert, mushing's good for socializing on my own terms. I work customer service all day and when I get home I often really really need to not be around people, but I do like to hang out and blast imaginary fools with friends.

@Jennkryst IKR? I do love how their vehicle scaling worked in that game. And multi action penalties were a cool way of doing things.
My favourite story about the multi action penalties was from a table top session where a jedi character saw a bad guy and wanted to attack him with his lightsabre on the first round. So he wanted to draw his LS(-1d), activate lightsaber combat(-2d for Sense and Control rolls), run across the room(-1d running check to make the distance) Jump over the guy's computer console(-1d), and then attack him(one action is free.) for a total of -5d. Well, he drew his LS no problem, ran over no problem, even jumped with all the penalties. He failed to activate Light Saber Combat, so he didn't get the swanky bonuses. His attack roll failed by so much he hit himself with his lightsabre and cut off his own leg with the thing, a scene which I think really should have made the prequels somewhere during the youngling scene.

WEG d6 for simplicity.
Oh yeah, d6 is also great! My big issue with it, is how games tend to push up the difficulties for simple things. I once went through cg on a game(grymsyn something, or erebus.. I forget what it was called, it was based on the shatterzone box set) that listed the TN for climbing a ladder in the teens. When I asked about it, the headwiz said that with characters always being so powerful, he had to ramp up the difficulties so things would be harder. He didn't appreciate my arguement that that meant that Worker's Comp would be bankrupt within months with all of those electricians falling off their ladders while trying to put in lightbulbs.

I'd lose my mind for GURPS, but SJG isn't game for that.
Savage Worlds is a very close second, it's so easy to run, I think it would translate very well to a mush environment. +bennies ftw!

Yikes. Bit of a tangent, one of the links on that page went to an old article about Captain America being a nazi. WTF? Did that get resolved in any way?

If anything, I think this iteration is more community building than anything. I don't know if I've actually played with any of you before, since WoD isn't my jam, but it's a good place to bounce ideas around.

I feel like Manga exploding in North America for the past 10 years has taken a bite out of Marvel's target audience. The library can't keep that stuff on the shelf, and we have kids doing interlibrary loans for it.

Do people like skill challenges?posted in Mildly Constructive
I know a lot of people (myself included) hate on 4e, but one of the cool things to come out of it, in my opinion were the skill challenges mechanic.
I was thinking of doing non combat tasks with pseudo combat rules(using Science! attacks versus Mysterious Anomaly's AC type thing), and remembered the skill challenge system.
Was this something a lot of people enjoyed? Or do people typically prefer doing a roll and handwaving the hours spent on it as downtime bullshit so I can go kill mooks?

A remedial grid is built. Woo. I was super creative and named the Colony Alpha Complex.
A more informative Wiki, too. It's still hideous, though.Next up:
statting gunz, and vehicles.
Finding someone to code the simple econ. I could probably run it off my google spreadsheet, but it'd be nice to have things done on the game instead of by hand.
Yay messing up my back to keep me from going out on weeknights
