@peasoupling You can set your background skills to below average. Just an FYI!

I've been trying to think up some concepts, but it's hard!
I'm thinking something medical-related. Anyone have some ideas?
EMT! Great concept overall in a MU. Easy to explain you ending up just about anywhere. Great skillset. Odd hours allow for odd things. Could work with the other emergency response folks.

@meg I can't wait to get #funnygang trending in game.
Do hashtags trend on Instagram? God, I'm old.
Much of AresMUSH uses markdown. Just like MSB does. Hashtags are used for making things
really big.

RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion
@Sab @saturna I do want to point out that art communities are popular in this part of the world. As the site points out, millions roll through this town come very summer, and they all want some souvenir from a local artist. The craving for high-quality mountain chintz is insatiable.
So, if anyone wants to keep things "realistic", just make sure your art could be sold in some way and I think it'll be a great concept!

@skew and I are now combining our cafe ideas like VOLTRON
I'm the heart, right? Art is the heart?
The new, tentative plan, will be my character (Green) renting half of @Roz 's shop. It'll be made into an art co-op, where local artists (and the like) basically rent some small space to sell their work. So, come for coffee, go shop. Leave all your money in Grand Lake.
Concept still in development, but we'll get it worked out! And, yes, anyone who wants to be an artist can find an anchor here

@this-man So, there are no alt-right trolls on this server?

RE: A theme-less, CGen-less game
@arkandel I think out-of-the-box AresMUSH would have everything you needed to do this. The
scene
system creates a temp room + teleports you there, which would effectively allow players to play whatever scene/game/story they wanted to. Just log in, start a scene, join a scene. Flag things public/private for if other randoms are allowed to hop in. Scenes can be "paused" and restarted at people's conveniences. Really is easy.Plus, as far as administration goes, the
jobs
suite is available through the web. So whoever is admin for the game could effectively handle a lot of stuff without even needing to enter the game itself.Edit: There's a fully integrated wiki. It's not quite got all the bells and whistles as WikiMedia, but it is part of the same server, it's within the same web-portal, and logins for it are the same as the game.

Show Notifications
....why?@faraday @Tat Would be great if we could find some way to explain why it wants to send notifications.
@everyone else... I'm fixing to play a cafe/community art store owner. Be more than happy for any connections people want. See you all on Wednesday!

RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion
Since I started working on Chontio, I've been watching @Tat build this game up. Listening to how things went in alpha. Trading code. Receiving wisdom and then offering whatever I could, when I could. I am very excited to see this going live!
HYPE!

RE: Seeking Accessibility Feedback
We've got a few colorblind players on Chontio, and I've been piping feedback back to @faraday as it comes up. Its been minimal. Things like... the default AresCentral setting for pages was
%xb
, I think? It's%xh%xg
now (or something). We will continue to keep eyes open! And, ofc, if anyone sees anything on Chontio that touches on accessibility, just lemme know (or, ya know, let Farday know).

RE: WoD Games in the Works
For lack of support and interest, I shelved my vampire single-sphere game.
I converted ThenoCode to Rhost, and it all works and is ready to use. I was going to convert to V5 when I lost steam (and changed projects). Still theoretically open to helping someone else do it (I've put out offers to help Crescent Moon Mux (WoD 2E set in New Orleans done by @BlackDahlia and @Kumakun ) and City of Shadows (WoD 2E set in Chicago done by wtf is their MSB handle I forget Pestilence on Discord??) and the latter is all set up (I think) and the former said they were good).
Which I just realized I wrote that pretty backwards as the two important pieces of information are above. Crescent Moon Mux and City of Shadows, both WoD 2E games that have stalled(?).

RE: Mu* Clients for new iPad Pro?
MudRammer is what I use on my phone and iPad. It's the best I've found.
That said, you could come play my game from the web portal! We got "spawned" chats and "spawned" scenes and... ya know. Wave of the future?
I mean, Evennia's new built-in web client is also pretty swank, isn't it?

RE: Setup ChimeMUX + MediaWiki on Digital Ocean
@faraday @surreality Oh, boo. I thought you could just keep the snapshot and continually hand it out.
Then, yeah, probably the best way would be to keep the "blank" TinyMUX-with-Wiki game droplet sitting there, doing nothing at all (except getting code updates as necessary). But that's surely an investment.
-
RE: Setup ChimeMUX + MediaWiki on Digital Ocean
Some @Thenomain should just set up a server running TinyMUX empty and then clone images to anyone who wants one.

RE: MUSHgicians elements
Using a non-FS3 system on Ares (Star Wars RPG by FFG), I've found Ares is quite versatile and easy to work with. There's tutorials and examples that go through how to add things, and there's almost surely an existing something you can borrow from.
For example, I wanted to add a statement that players make from the perspective of their character. Part of the application. I added a new command to do it, so I could make sure people didn't miss it. I'd say it was as easy to add that command as it would have been add similar into TinyMUX or Rhost (which I am way more familiar with).
All that to say... it's adaptable. If you want to do something far more free-form, it would be quite easy to do. A few dice rolls, a few pools to keep track of... easy peasy. Plus you already have all the other stuff, like forum chat app review, etc etc.
