How about 'It takes 30 nos to get to a yes', and make it one of your nos to get out of the way? Maybe? Coping strategies are so different for different people. I hope.you can beat your brain weasels into submission.

The more... verbose people in this thread seem to want a place to actually explore the reality of being a POC.
I haven't gotten that impression, but if it's true, that strikes me as exactly opposite of something that would make RL POC comfortable/feel included.
ETA: Bunch of white people 'exploring' what it's like to be a POC? "My culture is not a costume."

@HelloProject
Do what you can to help make yourself feel safe again, if you can. I've had the glorious stalker experience myself, as have a few other people around here -- if you want tips on some things I did that helped me lemme know, and I'm sure other folks have some tips, too. It's absolutely awful what he did, and once you are in a space where you can, reporting is a good idea -- but please make sure you take care of yourself first. 100%. You won't be able to follow through with the reporting process if you don't, anyway.

closed the sabbat on due rewards WHILE THERE WERE STILL ACTIVE PLAYERS
also, PK'd a PC with my PC via telenuke while I was staff of a sphere because I couldn't get rid of her as staff. I think that one was Denver.
Also, I didn't get rid of the clique that shall not be named on Ashes until it was far, far, far, far too late. And: I participated in PillowFort.

@sunny You done some heavy crap!
Yeah, it's why I say that most everything in this hobby, you can come back from. If I can be reformed, I'm pretty sure most folks that aren't actively, intentionally malicious could be.

turns out video game music really does help my concentration--
someday I will take less than "a few years" to listen to advice.

I, personally, would love the ability for players to be able to add to the game, even if just rooms, or an object that alters the desc if they want. And yes, if you played on Fifth Kingdom over the summer, you had a quota of 20 (alas, no one checks their build quota or knows about it is my guess). Its being lost, I just think we're moving away from MU and into something newer.
Er, Arx allows for building rooms and objects and the like, as well. It's absolutely not being lost? Both Ares and Evennia (new platforms) have the ability to do this (and the flagship games for both do it), so I'm not sure what you're basing this on. I mean you're factually incorrect here.

I honestly do not think that simply moving from MUSHcode to Python (or Ruby) will make it 'orders of magnitude' easier.
This exists for learning Python. I have used it to teach teenagers, and I do not code. This truly is orders of magnitude easier than how we had to learn to use mushcode. This isn't even considering the fact that I can literally go take a class from a professional instructor, do a coding boot camp, buy any number of hundreds of books, watch instruction videos on youtube...and I could continue going on listing ways to learn, NONE of which exist for mushcode.
Motivated learner, apparently with the aptitude for programming and with access to quality instruction tools. Results not typical
How on earth is it HARDER than learning mush code?

tooth infections can be lethal. I know you don't have the money to go to the dentist, but if you start running a fever, please go to the ER. I know it's a financially bad idea, I know that it's panic-inducing, I know it's hard, but please please don't take too many chances.

@faraday I'm the one who said lazy, because I don't think time's much of a factor any more. I'm too lazy for a LOT of things. Pretty sure most people are. I'm too lazy to learn how to bake bread. This isn't a problem, until I say that I don't want to use a bread maker OR an oven, and that's why I can't learn to make bread.
@ganymede It takes a LOT less time than it used to. If you prioritized it, you would have time. Lack of desire to prioritize it is not a problem or flaw or a bad thing. But it's part of the whole reason that it's so awesome to see these things switching over: it takes WAY less time these days to learn this stuff.

Like, I know you guys are hearing that he's anti-better-UI, but I promise, @rook straight up means what he is actually saying, rather than what people have been inferring. I know he's actively been working on this type of thing for ages. He's one of a handful of mush people I know that in these types of conversations, he does actually put his money where his mouth is and has the skills to pull it off. So.

@meg I'm sorry, I must be just straight up missing something. Can you show me where that's happening, here? I am seeing questions being asked and a discussion being had.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
My kiddo had an accommodation for writing because he too had the issue of not being able to do it no matter what executive dysfunction say NO WRITE. They ended up having him use this thing that was sort of like a Chromebook in size and literally all it did was type what he would be writing.
Find out if they can get one for him to try. It was like night and day for us.

RE: Getting a sense of what sort of MU* ads are okay
And see? If it's too bad, they will not only mock it in the thread, but for years to come as well. I'm not trying to be discouraging! I am just concerned that you are hesitant about unleashing the hounds and thus want to make sure you are well braced for impact if it does happen.
On the bright side, there are a WHOLE LOT of people around here right now that are looking for something new, and A Genre Beyond What They Are Used To is probably actually something that might appeal more now than it has in years past. It's totally worth trying.
