RE: What was the name of this orig historical game?
It started with a P. Poddington on Slossip? I remember it existing, but I'm not 100% sure on the name either. I wanna say Poddington tho.

RE: criticism not allowed in ad threads is only enforcing a false positive, prove me wrong
Adding more work when current work is too much of a workload is not a good idea.

See why a wiki is better, g'dammit?
No.
ETA: People following the rules, and the rules being enforced consistently, is better.

I agree 100% with @faraday . Adding more things to manage when the rules we have aren't even being enforced, I have no faith that the rules on a wiki would be enforced any better than those on the forum, and a wiki is super bad potential for badness. I am of the opinion that you should wait until you have what you are doing currently working right before you add more to it.

RE: Back in my day....
It's grown ass adults doing that one, though, not the kids.

Or people have different thresholds for skeevy. She was a consenting and very interested adult. shrug

@2mspris For what it's worth, the post was made somewhat tongue in cheek, which I figured people would understand by the title. Apparently that was lost in translation though.

RE: Ruins of Pern - Discussion
I did not find the book (or the portrayed relationships in it) skeevy at all.

Masterharper of Pern is absolutely the best of the bunch.

RE: How Best To Help
It would depend HEAVILY on what information it is, but as a general baseline for an FAQ or teaching, yep.

RE: How Best To Help
For me, it depends on the information entirely. The method in which I prefer to digest that varies heavily based on what information it is. The piece for me that is VITAL is that whatever question I asked is the one that is answered, because if I want to know where I can find something, I will ask 'where can I find something', and if I want an explanation I'll ask 'how does it work' or something.
ETA: Very little drives me as batshit as someone assuming I didn't mean the question I asked (bonus points if it's because I'm a woman who couldn't possibly understand the answer, which I run into in the tech field pretty regularly) and answering what they think I SHOULD have asked, instead. 'Did you mean...' is OK. 'Well, I know you asked where to find it, but the book is really complicated and the system varies, and basically just roll X and Y and your difficulty in this situation is Z' is not.

I mean, speaking to the tide pods, how many of us heard stories growing up about the idiots killing themselves with antifreeze? Arguably that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay dumber, and yet...

RE: Whiskey's Playlist - Children of the Moon
Hahaha, I had something similar happen on a game called Doublecross. I got the position originally (at like 13) because I "coded" bunk code for Changeling (ahahahahahaha) and then when the Changeling wiz quit they made me wiz and my RL best friend (one year older) became the Vampire wiz and -- yeah, it went about as sideways as one can imagine.

RE: Whiskey's Playlist - Children of the Moon
I don't know you at all, but I remember CotM! I also was a wee person when I started mushing myself (13), so I completely empathize with the....
Yeah.
Thanks for posting this, and I betcha you'll eventually get a few bites. We've got quite a few people around these parts that were playing in the CotM days.

RE: Ideal Scene Length?
@ninjakitten said in Ideal Scene Length?:
I rarely start a scene if I don't have at least 3-4 hours and I'm perfectly happy to have them go on all day, assuming I have the day and things are interesting. I don't often do anything under 2 hours at all, because it feels like it doesn't get anywhere. So... I guess I'm just really out of sync with everyone else these days, unless there are a bunch of other people who prefer longer ones who aren't chiming in.
I'm with you, never fear. Folks aren't speaking up, but I promise we exist.
