RE: New Project?
Another moon gift associated with your auspice.
As in, when they start releasing more gifts for each specific auspice, like they did in 1e.
Rahu can not learn Crescent Moon/New Moon/etc.

RE: New Project?
Werewolf also gives you DICE for things in unfun ways, in my experience. Like, it gives you dice just to be giving you dice, and it usually seems noticeable?
My vampire gets bonus dice to his brawl attacks because of vigor, which also makes him stronger passively and can, in and of itself, be a fun tool to RP. The immortal monster who looks like plain Jane, but can heave you through a wall, etc, etc. Sure, it's not like THE AMAZING FUN TRAIN, but it's still....something?
I'm not a werewolf expert, but in my experience most of the werewolf stuff is explicitly like "add X-renown to Brawl attacks" "add rote to sneak attacks" "add 8-again to weaponry attacks" because goddamn, you need to keep up with the other splats somehow.
Also, Renown is one of the worst mechanics across any of the splats. It makes sense story-wise, but in terms of the mechanics, it's one of the most obnoxious things in any of the games. Renown as a stat does almost NOTHING and yet costs on par with a power stat.
Which brings us to the actual power stat. Primal Urge is by far, the worst power stat across any of the game lines. It does almost nothing. None of the power rolls use it, because that's what renown is for.
Compare this to mage, where Arcana are both...side-power stats AND each dot gives you access to 10+ powers AND is used in countless rolls. Gnosis is the end all be all, used for any improvised spells, iirc? Or vampire where blood potency is amazingly potent (comparatively speaking) in terms of what benefits you get for every dot of it. Or Changeling where increased Wyrd is actually kind of fun, AND still pretty potent.
My impressions as somebody who plays these games, but has never cared enough to really become an expert on any of them.

RE: New Project?
@ThatOneDude , you listed about 50 books, 90% of which are NOT OUT, DARK ERAS, REPRINTS, or specifically DEMON.

RE: New Project?
I would really like to get to try 2e Promethean somewhere.
Beyond that, jesus, it'd be nice to have 2e ANYTHING. I don't even know of any 2e games anymore.

Yeah, people are very upset that I disagreed with them online about disagreements online so they're reaching as hard as they can.
See, Tempest, if you'd refer to Paragraph 4(g) of the memo, titled "Quod Erat Demonstravit" --
If you think I'm actually going to read the last few pages of this thread, you are crazy.
Why are you guys spam-arguing with some throwaway puppet account.

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
Did I not get the memo on "gaslighting is the new buzzword"? I swear this is the only place I hear this phrase come up more than once in a blue moon, and weirdly enough, it seems to only ever come from a certain crowd.

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
The problem here, is the "oh i'm so nice pls no insult go to hogpit :D" crowd has repeatedly shown to have no problem with insulting and...gasp...omg....DOGPILING!!!!!! on people.
But the minute anybody so much as casts any criticism in their direction, they go into "OMG! I'VE BEEN VICIOUSLY ATTACKED! MODERATE!!! MODERATOR HALP!!!! PLS!!!! THIS NO HOGPIT!!!! MY IDEAS MUST BE SAFE!!!"

Yeah, I dunno. I guess I've seen some slapfights, but it feels to me more like 'omg its the 6 fingered man making a post! I must defeat them now!!!' more than 'these posts are particularly vitriolic and negative to a degree that demands almost 300 posts about whether its ok to have more than one person disagree with an opinion'.
I want to be the 6 fingered man.
We definitely need downvotes, but I guess that would infringe on the "safe space" so many people here seem to desperately need.

RE: New Games and Feature Characters...
The problem is not staff picking a character.
The problem is Headwiz XYZ takes Batman. His wife takes Catwoman. Their 4 friends take Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Lantern, and the Flash.
All while Headwiz XYZ absolutely knows for a FUCKING FACT none of those people are actually going to play the game much. But it's his wife, their friends, etc, so he lets them anyways.
Oh and then Staffer A wants Nightwing, and his two friends want Batgirl and Zatanna, to play with him.
Staffer B wants Aquaman, and his girlfriend takes Mera.
Wow, suddenly your game is already in the fucking D-List, especially for female characters.
I mean, if you stop at "staff picking characters" in this scenario, you only have Batman, Nightwing, and Aquaman picked. Not exactly the end of the world.
The problem is when all their friends also get first dibs.
And god forbid if they're snatching alts immediately too. Even 'second tier' ones, because they're going to snatch all the 'top' on that tier too.
Edit : I will say, that for whatever reason, Comic MUers make the most RIDICULOUS fucking fuss about NEEDING alts. It's obnoxious, but the sad facts of MUing are "big who list = more players will stick around when they log on to look", and a lot of people will NOT hang around if they aren't allowed to squat on 3, 4, 5 characters. So you're shooting yourself in the foot twice on this one issue if you don't allow alts.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@wretched Oh, for sure. I just meant to say, Johnny Depp as mayor is pretty tame in that frame of reference, even if he is a little scummy.

Honestly, in a setting with people who turn into wolves, vampires (other than Peter Thiel, who apparently believes he can become immortal off the blood of twinks), Mages and baristas or coders who all like movie stars and models, Depp the mayor doesn't even put a blip on the radar for me.
Maybe he made a deal with a demon or something.
On top of the whole "setting with werewolves and vampires" stuff, it seems like people continually forget that the World of Darkness is not carbon copy RL. The World of Darkness is a more fucked up place. Cops are more crooked, more violent, more racist. People are more scummy, less worried about morals. Etc.
WoD is not "real life, but with vampires".

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
After reading that snippet about wolfbloods and seeing him handle some other stuff, I have to say.
Gabriel appears to be the headwiz that a WOD game really needs.
Good luck. Stay strong!

RE: Experienced Tiers or How much is too much?
Answer #1 : Players need to be on relatively even terms. Disparities in XP levels just breeds saltiness. And at some point somewhere, there should be an xp cap. 900xp is just insane. Like, for me, that's not even from a "omg so strong mechanically!!!!!" kind of angle. It's just...goddamn, you can literally buy every fucking thing imaginable with 900 xp. Your character is a mary sue on steroids who can do everything. That game isn't going to be fun.
Give people enough xp to be AMAZING at their thing. 400, 500, 600? Who cares, go for it. Don't give them enough xp to be amazing at every fucking thing.
Answer #2: All you need is Staff who is willing to tell people NO when they want to do something that isn't done with people's fun in mind. If some 900 xp mage gets mad at a 900 xp werewolf, if the mage shows up to a scene and goes "i atomize the werewolf", you just say no. Find another way to work it out.
If there is some retarded nonsense going on like the mage wants to kill the werewolf because the werewolf tasted the mage's girlfriend's breastmilk or some crazy shit (thanks, Fallout MU), you just siteban all 3 people on the spot and move on.
The problem with a game like Fallcoast and obnoxiously high XP, is that there might as well be 0 oversight. Staff on TR and FC actively does not WANT to be involved in their game. They want everybody to STFU and go play in their corner and leave staff alone so they can go play in their corner. Like, dating back to when I actually played TR, you had Shane (vampire) running around with some silly effect 24/7 and going "HAHAHA I CAN'T DIE! MY HEART IS CUT OUT AND IN A BOX SOMEHWERE!!!! FUCKYEAH KINDRED VODOUN!!!!!" and people making Septemi characters specifically to kill him (being the vampire bloodline with a "dispel magic" power), people starting fights in Elysium with 0 consequences, people unfreezing coteries and instantly being given Prince, etc, etc, etc.
The answer is always going to be "is your staff any good?" XP tiers are irrelevant. With 10xp or 1000xp bad staff is bad staff and bad game culture is bad game culture.
Just because people "can" theoretically do things, doesn't mean staff should let them, on the game. And no, staff doesn't need to specifically HR out every little thing, they just need to be paying attention and willing to say no in specific cases, and not be afraid of temporarily upsetting players.
TL;DR Make xp tiers available to everybody. The only requirement should be "hey, can you like...put a little more effort into your character's story, and make sure they make sense? No 18 year old mages with 500 xp and a mastery, please." And please, put an actual hard cap somewhere.

RE: Miami, Blood in the Water
If anybody doesn't get "Fallcoast staff is panicking because it dropped from 100+ person who lists to 30 person who lists in the span of about a month" vibes from this "advertisement", I think it's a case of being willfully obtuse.
Why open a brand new ad thread for a game that doesn't yet exist that is literally nothing but
"please log on fallcoast :D"
Just reeks of trying to yank attention back to themselves really awkwardly especially when literally nothing new was offered about the Miami game.
TBH if I had to guess, I'd wager other-staff on FC is hounding Sonder about the game being dead and demanding she do something. And we got this "ad".
But, what do I know.

What makes Blood different from the other game?
One is open right now, the other isn't, and Fallcoast has hemorrhaged its playerbase.
I have to say @SunnyJ's post seems pretty spot on. This feels like a "Fallcoast's who list dropped to 30 and another 'generic multisphere WoD' game opened, panic!!!!" kind of move.
Like...log into Fallcoast to discuss "code ideas"???
Who are we kidding here. The R3ACH's code is going to be the exact same as FC's.

RE: Genosha (Interest Poll)
Disagreements are, of course, to be expected, but they should be kept to a professional capacity: disagree with the idea, not the person. Attack the idea, not the person. Posts containing personal attacks will be deleted.
It's looking like people can take disagreements and criticism of their ideas as personal attacks and just yell how they feel insulted and shut down dissenting voices.

Edit : Arx also had infinitely more "development" effort from its creators than any MUSH is ever going to have, which is a big part of its success.
Also, I only became aware of Arx when it was in actually open "alpha" (and that alpha seemed a lot more like a 'beta' stage, from those who played it). Like active plotting wasn't going on but the game was BUILT.
This is actually true too.
When Arx was first announced (presumably by @Apos? I forget), I don't recall there being any significant delay before people could log on and start playing.
