I have the feeling they're all going to happen all at once.

Odd Mu* urges
Sometimes you just want to play a certain kind of character just to see if they'd translate into a game. Not really something you'd do, but sometimes you just get the odd urge to play around with a character, these are Odd Mu* urges, it might be a really silly flavor type character, it might just be something just so out of place, it's ridiculous but fun to think about and it just keeps coming back, but it's probably a really bad idea and you know it. A couple to start off.
- A female ODB (Old Dirty Bastard...I guess that would be Old Dirty Bi@*#). This one has mental health written all over it, probably a heavy drug user or alcoholic. Really good at something, like savant level good, yet she never uses it or uses it randomly and at strange times, but rarely when it's needed. Says random tangential things, that can range from profound to absurd, but really don't try to dig deeper because she's just cray-cray. Maybe there might be a lucid moment in there, but mostly it's full of wtf?!

RE: RL Anger
Who in the HELL thought hipster versions of 90's hits was a good idea?
I heard a version of Ginuwine's "Pony" that made me throw up in my mouth.

RE: Good TV
I think we need a spoiler board to discuss shows. I kinda wanna talk about the OA.

RE: Good TV
Yush, A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix. I read this with my son a couple years ago. I think I enjoyed it more than he did, but I liked the first two episodes so far.

RE: MU Things I Love
That moment you have that scene where you get them feels. It's so good the words just flow out of you.
(P.S.-not a sex scene either)

RE: Taking your ball and going home...
@gasket I'm all for saving things for posterity. I've always found the worst offenders are chameleons and will have someone that says "nuh uh!" regardless or they'll just assume a new personality.
On the other hand, sometimes you just want to go back and take out what you said. That's because you realize it was something you shouldn't have. There's nothing wrong with that; I think that's a good thing.

RE: Searching for Star Wars RPI
The problem I've always had with Star Wars games has always been, people spend most of their time flying around or being meta about who's knowledge of canon is greater instead of the actual meta-plot.
Yet, I love Star Wars. It would be interesting to see what this new one is and how it works out.

RE: Sensitive cultural/political/religious aspects of game themes.
I tend to shy away from "Historical" mu*s for a couple reasons. I'd approach my decision to play there on the same criteria I would in making certain character rulings if I were a staffer.
- Which version of history are we talking about? I hate to be that person....but. Even in history you have people that broke norms. If the concept is interesting, it should be allowed. Just about any time period you can think of there was someone that was abnormal in the societal sense. Medieval? There were examples of women fighting and leading armies. Berlin 1943? There were certainly Germans that didn't agree with nazis. I could go on and on with this.
I'm not even the type of person to say, "this setting? Imma break it with this concept." I just think historical settings are sanitized and attempted to be portrayed in black and white, when even a little research proves otherwise. So, I'm all for if you have a historical basis for the character concept, it's allowed. Most Mu*s with historical themes don't do this, so I don't play them. This leads me to #2.
- History and accuracy aren't always interesting in terms of storytelling. Ever watch Vikings? Love it! Guess who my favorite character is? Yeah, you guessed it....Lagertha.
Now Vikings is a great show. It's not the most historically accurate show. I'm pretty sure women didn't really go on raids and Lagertha probably didn't exist....neither did Ragnar most likely. But I enjoy watching the show and if it were historically accurate. I doubt it would've lasted a season. I know I wouldn't watch it.
The same applies to an mu*, if I log on to a Viking game and I'm looking through the help files and I see something like "we are a historically accurate game, that means no Lagertha, you can play a shield maiden but..." I'm typing quit...not even going to finish reading.
So the point I'm making is, history is great. It just doesn't always tell a fun or interesting story. Sometimes it's a confining box that's not even all that accurate either. There is a point where realism becomes unfun. If it is one of those sticking points, at least try to be flexible with it.

RE: International Music.
No Cafe Tecvba or Mana for Spanish rock? Whaaa?
Also kudos on Romeo Santos! I'm in love with Bachata. But that's what I get for marrying a Puerto Rican. Aventura is a sure bet too.
I'm in love with Childish Gambino right now.

That feeling when you dream about your character and think, I'm going to try that.

Mariah Carey killing her career was an appropriate ending to 2016.

RE: RL Anger
I gotta cook tomorrow, like immediately when I get home and....I'm really pissed. I'm just not feeling this Christmas. Next year I'm getting Whole Foods desserts.

Upcoming movie trailers
I had to post this. We need a place for movies coming out that we're excited for anyway, I thought about posting it in the good movie thread, but who knows how it's going to turn out. This is a good one to start it off.

RE: RL things I love

RE: House Rules vs Rules as Written
@Sunny said in House Rules vs Rules as Written:
I find house rules to be a necessary thing. Most tabletop systems are not designed for a persistent world that has more than 5-6 people, and thus absolutely must be modified with that factor in mind.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
