RE: Nightlife RPG vs CoD
@Ghost I hear what you're saying and believe me, I get it. I gave a lot of thought to FS3. In the end, however, I was worried that it just wouldn't handle supernatural creatures well. I toyed around with using Advantages as sort of supernatural powers but it just never quite felt right.
It does offer a lot of convenience and, as I said, I've considered it heavily I just worry about how it would deal with things like vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures. I thought about utilizing attacks and armor and what not to simulate some things and other stuff could just be RP fodder but I worried about player buy in, you know?
I think Faraday herself even discourages people from trying to use FS3 in such a way. I know there are supernatural games out there that use FS3 but I don't think they do it in the way I'm intending(a WoD/CoD alternative).
I'm open to ideas, however.

RE: Getting Young Blood Into MU*'ing
I honestly never understood the mentality that "all players must be given equal opportunities regardless of the effort put into the game". God forbid a staffer get, like, an extra alt or access to something rare and unusual for the time and effort they put into a game. I once let staffers get first dibs on characters for all the work they put into a game and I was roasted to hell and back by some because of it. I get not letting "all the cool stuff" available only to staffers and their friends(which has happened) but the knee jerk reaction to staff or donors getting something special is extreme to me to say the least.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
@Rinel @jibberthehut I wasn't going to comment on this movie anymore as I've encountered a lot of fanboi butthurt aggression if you mention ANYTHING negative about this movie but...I've thought about the "girl power" part of the battle and was it necessary? No, I don't think so. I also don't' think it really detracted from the scene at all and it was a kind of cool visual. I certainly wouldn't hold it against the movie. For me, I think they could have cut the first half hour or so easily in half and lost nothing but that time from the movie. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of good stuff there but it's stuff I would have much rather seen in a director's cut of the movie instead of the theatrical release.

RE: Nightlife RPG vs CoD
Weirdly, my TT group messaged me this morning asking about "that MUSHing" thing I do and wanted to give it a try. So I'm working with them at the moment to get their feet wet on a game.

RE: Spars and fights
Coming from a mostly comic MU background I've always just rolled with whatever. We'd either decide who would win and why ahead of time and work our way to that point or wait till we were deep in the fight and figure out who should win based on RP. It could get hairy when you're the hero and the villain doesn't want to get captured but, most of the time, we'd work things out. The important thing was that the end of the RP, regardless of who "won", both(or all) characters should have open avenues to future RP as a result of the scene.

RE: The All-New Down With OPP Thread
For what it's worth, it's on my game that some folk think he's popped up on. I managed to get DWOPP's IP from another game he's been banned on, they don't match.
Not definitive, obviously, but a strike against falling skies and impending doom.

RE: Trinity Continuum Chat
That sounds crazy awesome and I'd be more excited if it wasn't Onyx Path. They say 2021 but given their track record, we'll see it sometime in 2030.

That's amazing. I actually will use that.

RE: Godbound RPG
I'm running an adventure this week at some point set in a Dark Souls like world where normal humans have been pretty much decimated by invading demons so the gods splintered their essence into a new generation of heroes/demigods. Super high powered obviously but that's the name of the game in Godbound. I'm pretty excited to try it.

RE: Game of Thrones
Warning for anyone who reads this and hasn't seen the episode, avoid Yahoo News. Huge spoiler right on the front page. Unbelievable.

@JinShei I agree. For me, the decision was made because the "influencer/model" in question had only a few thousand followers and most of the pictures were more candid in nature than "photo opportunity" types. I think in this age where we're seeing more and more "regular people" become pseudo-celebrities it's a line that gets blurrier and blurrier every day.

RE: The Board Game Thread
I thought Gloomhaven was a huge disappointment. The mechanics are good and all but I just didn't click with any of the characters. I also didn't like how you will eventually have to retire your PC and start a new one. I've actually been tempted to sell my copy off.
Just started a campaign of Legacy Betrayal and I haven't had as much fun with a board game in a long time!
For X-Mas I have The Pursuit of Happiness coming my way and I'm VERY excited about that. It just looks like a box full of fun.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Brightburn has been my first pleasant surprise of the summer. I knew I'd love Endgame, I knew I'd really enjoy Detective Pikachu, but I was unsure whether or not I'd think Brightburn was any good. Turns out, I very much enjoyed it. What sucks is that it's being released alongside Aladdin and a week before Godzilla so I'm sure it's going to get buried. I wish they had released it last year like they had planned or pushed it to Halloween of this year. Oh well, here's hoping it does well enough to warrant a sequel.

Even pre-PBs, I didn't read descs.
This +1000. There was very little I hated more than typing 'l (person)' and being greeted with an 8,000 character buffer breaker.
This is why I like BeipMU. On Blood Falls and H&V I encourage players to link to an image in their @descs as it brings up that image in the client itself if people are A) using BeipMU and B) have that feature turned on. Then the actual text desc is used to customize the image with character-specific things.

RE: Best (PnP) RPGs of 2018?
The Tiny games are pretty neat. I have their Tiny Mecha and Monsters and it's a blast to just go out and play. So long as you weren't looking for long term character advancement I think it'd work great on a MU.

RE: Godzilla
Everyone I talk to who has seen it loves it. The people I've spoken to who haven't liked it are not fans of the genre so I'm not sure why they're investing time and energy into it at all.
