    • RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?

@tempest Final Fantasy is a level based grinder, most of the time, it is more akin to D&D in many of the iterations than anything else. Even so far as having prestige classes for some of them.

There are versions which are different of course but in the end I am not a fan of pure consent anything. Not even comic book games, I always prefer an actual dice system with a more codified means of character advancement.

Pure Consent, with no system at all... Well, needless to say, it's very off topic and probably would derail it's own thread if it had one.

I prefer systems. Consent based is to much like cowboys and indians, or cops and robbers for me. Most of the time.

There are a few genre's where /mostly/ consent based works fine.

I just don't see Final Fantasy as one of them.

@auspice Sounds like you might consider continuing looking for something more stable.

I am having an issue myself, I moved, my job is taking way to long to get things updated, so I can't work here until they do.

@ganymede If you are removing cure potions, then you can remove cure/life/phoenix downs etc without a problem.

If FS3 (I do not know, not very experienced with it) allows for coded damage, then it should allow for coded healing. If it doesn't allow for coded damage, then cure/life/phoenix downs/potions etc... are all just plot fu.

@faraday Actually FF magic is one of the few magic systems (in general) where FS3 could be done with it, if you just turned magic/materia into /weapons/ and /attacks/ it would work fine honestly. The setting for magic in FF is both simplistic, and at times powerful, but there's no reason you couldn't for the most part use FS3 for it. There are very few buffs/debuffs other than Shell/Shield/Regeneration/Gravity/Demi. If you had your FS3 set to have /armor/ then you could even use half of those. The biggest buffs that wouldn't make a lot of sense for it would be haste/slow.

It was pretty easy to make a werewolf incapable of frenzy in the OWoD system, I tended to play ragas and theurges and it was not unusual for one of them to not be able to frenzy.
I was kind of neat the one time I played a galliard and actually had to make those rolls, to notice the impact it had on things.

Actually it is /impossible/ to make a werewolf that is incapable of frenzy. Even a Ragabash with a Rage of 1, can get modifiers to their rage pool for purposes of rolling for frenzy. It's just a rule that /most/ of the games choose not to enforce.

@dariryu Consent based? For Final Fantasy? Think I'll just walk away slowly with my hands up in a non-threatening manner 🙂

@ixokai You are dealing with an Alt-U right /out the gate/ so canon, doesn't matter to begin with.

The differences between your game and others is downright huge. Every character on your game is already an adaptation and a different take on the character than what exists in normal comic book sequence and lore.

So honestly, that's why you've hardly ever seen it.

On other Comic games, which try and do year one, or JLU or whatever, it can get very nasty, almost impossible even, to try and keep it all wrangled together.

@ganymede Yes, I think that is reasonable. It wouldn't really be a big deal to repost in the worst case anyway.

Actually they could probably do with a repost, and an update, so having a time limit does make some sense in that regard as well.

@ganymede It's coastal, but there is an inlet that fills with high tide so... yeah allergy counts are through the roof. I am used to it though as it's a place I have lived before.

Just gotta stay hydrated so this gunk in my chest doesn't turn to cement.

I think players tend to assume/talk like they're more gung-ho about character death than they actually are when it's them dying, and any game-runner is going to have to be prepared for that.

@Seraphim73 and random people I never really got to know from TGG can attest: I ain't afraid to assault a trench on my own. Everyone else will catch up. Eventually.

This reminded me (for different reasons of course) of the old WEG D6 Star Wars, where your starships /speed/ was based on what you rolled. We had one character making a run on a super star destroyer who rolled so well, he was literally there /by himself/ for like, 3 turns...

    • RE: FCs on Comic MUs

@arkandel Actually in my selective bias I'd be more inclined to notice Fire and Ice off together 🙂

But not what I meant. There are types of people who grab FC's just to try and seduce people as much as possible to get their freak on, maybe because the character name is already taken on Shang or something, I dunno.

Not all private RP is TS, I know this, I get accused of it all the time even on non-sexual characters (Aliens who don't find humans attractive, robots, oWoD vampires who's sex drive is as dead as they are, etc) but that doesn't mean there /aren't/ those types who /do/ that, if there weren't, it wouldn't be a trope.

I think part of the problem here is people have tied iconic FC's with 'running plots' when really it should just be 'generates RP' and 'is involved with others'.

The bar is not very high, yet how many times do we see <insert FC here> just off having sexy times somewhere?

Just finished a major move, had to drive for 15 hours straight, and of course... now I am sick because on that drive couldn't get comfortable, was either to hot or to cold. I hate colds... feel like my head is gonna explode and my throat is made of glass.

Instead of just saying: Only nice posts. Or whatever...

Why not create a template for people who are going to post an advertisement so that all the general questions are answered from the get go? Then you can make it so it is pure advertisements, and any other threads, we can make. Honestly, trying to say: Only 'nice' or 'helpful' posts is... subjective at best.
