@Taika If you don't have an end product in mind for what a piece of code does, then you're really going nowhere fast

RE: Code Teachers?
@Ashen-Shugar I would love an actual manual from you some day Ashen. I keep wanting to ask you to code for me but I know how many games you are tied to and I should do it myself anyways.
One day I will figure out how to get a nicely formatted and complex +sheet command coded, one day.

RE: Code Teachers?
I code everything in notepadd++ it's a very good tool. I should have mentioned it in my first post. Sorry.

RE: Code Teachers?
@Taika There's some decent tutorial logs to get you started on: http://www.mushcode.com/ but the biggest thing for me was just reading through the help on all the various functions but those can get you going.
After that, look at other code, once you know what the functions and replacement bits mean it makes more sense.

RE: A new game?
@BigDaddyAmin You're not a bully. You're just a toxic element I wouldn't want on any game I play on.
Don't take it personal, you're not the only one I feel that way about.
Different strokes for different folks and all, and your personality here? Not gonna mesh with mine which makes for less than fun pretendy funtimes.
As a side note: It's also why I haven't tried looking for staff on my game here, there are quite a few I would gladly have as staff on my game if they were interested in such, but I am not comfortable putting the particular idea and build up for further review after responses here on this forum I've had to game ideas.

RE: Let's talk about what makes a Mush succesful or a failure in regards to the questions presented herein.
@Thenomain I'm with you there. MUX is best for me, Rhost, then Penn.
Sucks that people still pick Penn for me, my biggest hate on for it? Frikken channels. WHY IN CTHULHU'S NAME IS THERE AN = OR A + IN FRONT OF A CHANNEL?!?! WHY????!?!?!?!?!
I just hate that.
So much.

RE: Where have all the crunchy games gone?
@Coin Mortality rates and years, the two numbers to be most concerned with!

RE: A new game?
Every time I find a new game that is cool, I /want/ to talk about it here... but then I see a post by @BigDaddyAmin and I decide it's probably better to keep it to myself rather than expose it to some of the elements on this forum.

I think all we really need is to close ALL GAMES and make one giant melting pot game so we lords and ladies lovers can go smack the fuck out of those WoD and Westeros bitches.
It's all fun and games until people from Shang show up.
Shang is tame compared to Tapestries, and Tapestries is even bigger and more active than Shang.

Didn't this thread already exist not to long ago?

RE: Dragon Age: Smoke & Shadows
@Nausicaa See I'd like to play in a Buffyverse game that was after Sunnydale that had ZERO FC's and no connection to Buffy at all anymore. Slayer would just be a player type since Willow unlocked them all etc.
That would be interesting to me, to see how the darkness fights back against a world that has hundreds of Slayers.

I love the process of making a new character. >.> I love making wiki pages. I love choosing music, and played bys, and fiddling, and yes. That. All of it.
You know, I like making a new character from scratch on a game I'm excited about and even PBs (and conversations leading up to picking one) can be fun, I've even even been known to hunt through my notes and the googlez for appropriate book quotes that fit the concept... but music? I can't find and wouldn't even know how to start looking for a soundtrack if I tried.
I generally have two things that put me in the mood to write/working on a character. One) A played by, Two) music. When it comes to just writing, it's usually music that does it for me. I have a really hard time working on my non-RP writing without music. I also somewhat have a hard time RPing with music, but not as bad.
Writing and music is pretty linked for me.
I share the music thing, but when I am making a character I usually have the whole character fleshed out in my head before I even begin writing so I go from start to done for a character amazingly fast, full desc written etc, and then hunt for a reasonable played by for hours on end...
I hate played by's anymore, write a description that tells me what they look like so I can imagine it, thanks.

RE: Attributes or No?
@faraday They are different, but there is also some similarities there too. I just find that it can't hurt knowing other systems. Might give ideas, it's a difficult thing to find the balance between swingy and bell curve.
Little things like 1's removing successes can dramatically alter the outcome of dice rolls for example.

RE: The Shame Game
@Tennyson Only thing downvote worthy in that, is the assumption that all countries have the same rights as others.

RE: Attributes or No?
@Ganymede I kind of agree here. I wanted to make an Earthdawn game way back when before I even knew how to code much of anything at all and step based system seemed impossible. Not so much anymore now that I have a tiny inkling of what I am doing.
Step based system from Earthdawn was something I really liked, @Coin might take a look just to compare and contrast maybe refine his own idea one way or the other.
Learning a new system can't really hurt regardless imho.

RE: CarrierRPI - a Survival Horror MUD
@Thenomain I think there's also a different idea of what is a reasonable time to RP what you're doing as well. From what I've seen RPI MUD's allow only enough time for a few quick blurbs, maybe a line or two, posed before the code triggers anyways. So the 'RP' is by necessity lighter than what some may be used to from MUX/MUSH comparatively.

RE: RL Anger
I hate how spoiler-y the internet gets minutes after a new Game of Thrones episode. It basically forces me to watch it the same night.
I just opened a Yahoo! tab on Chrome and right on the front page they are spoiling what happened tonight. The episode aired what, an hour ago as of now? Come on.
It's almost an art form to avoid internet spoilers. Shoulda seen me dodging Force Awakens spoilers. I work when GoT comes on, so can't watch it till tomorrow afternoon after I wake up. It can be... tricky.

@DnvnQuinn I think you should give it a try nevertheless. The Haven people are having a good time. It's not an exclusive game. People try to be inclusive. Sometimes it's hard to know who to approach to get oneself involved, yes, but with some RP effort it can work out.
The fact that Haven people are having a good time here, in addition with what happened to Sunny (Who just wanted to take a break to cool down, which is fucking reasonable as all hell), is like two strikes, and Skaldia is the third strike.
Not trying.

RE: Fallout/Wasteland existing code/snippets.
@DnvnQuinn I would convert it myself rather than use someone else's fan conversion that way you know what you want out of it and you can make sure you get there rather than trying to hodge podge someone else's vision into your own.
