They made a second ff?
FF1 FOREVER
@Rucket said in Feedback Needed - SWSE System & Character Concepts:
100% this. D20 Star Wars in any form sucks. Star Wars isn't a game of classes and levels. FFG tried to do good things with the license and for the most part did, but D6 is probably the best for MUs.
I'm slowly coding up the latest incarnation for a place (not Star Wars), Mini D6. PDF is free on drive thru RPG. Updated fast static combat shouldn't take more than a couple commands to do, no need for some combat handler with complex formulas and functions. Back in the day with just a roller D6 combat could be ran pretty fast on Star Wars mu's. Latest mini D6 'magic' is way easier, predetermine all affects/spells, get so many per force/magic skill in cg, then spend CP for new ones from predetermined list. Literally cg is one page in PDF, so is combat. Best simplification to date of ye olde SW D6 and, as always it's the same core so all WEG Star Wars books are easily compatible.

@Roz No I get that, but if it causes anxiety or whatever because you miss a birthday. Like. It's just a game!
Heh funny story. I rped and got into an ic relationship over time. The person oocly knew I wasn't on over weekends. Their ic birthday was on a weekend they planned some plotfu and got injured. My pc shows up Monday to wish well and fake apology missing a bday. They got dumped for being insensitive. It was good development but on a small game I basically ended up ostracized because everyone else was in group (how dare you do that to my sister, bestie, my friend's kid, etc for every other PC).
Some folks stick strictly to in game ic time apparently. I try to figure out preferences ahead of time and plan character development of the social ic sort based on that now. I prefer 1:1. I can't remember RL bdays and special dates.
@bear_necessities I was knee deep in a Fifth Kingdom revisit on Ares but it just felt like recreating something that ran it's short course. I am working on something in that Arthurian Fantasy vein though. More enchanted fantasy with some Fifth Kingdom like elements. Traditional sort of fantasy, borrowing inspiration from like Song of the Sea, Legend (Ridley Scott 80s film), Watership Down. That and projecting were my time will be in the next few months.
I do think modern has lots of potential and is untapped, but lots of folks look to established cannon. But when you look at it the more popular long lasting places currently out there with ongoing regular RP regardless of size, its all pretty original theme.
If I do modern drama I want to do the monthly shake up. Instead of a new RP partner for RP to earn XP, it would be you get a random name and have to make up some drama. Like in a relationship, you get other person Zita and you kiss them or one night stand or do something inappropriate with them and let your current person find out or something ... Or dump your current for this flame that burns out and spend the rest of themonth convincing your old p it was a one time mistake ... The stuff off an actual modern drama/soaps.

Calaveras-style sandbox set in the 80s or 90s... just with a little more staff oversight to keep players from steamrolling each others' stories...
Hindsight and all that.
I almost pondered taking the rodeo aspect in a follow up game after Calaveras and narrowing the focus to an amateur rodeo circuit with actual staff plot. Like in new Mexico this month for the Santa Fe PBR qualifier. Random rodeo dude is shot mysteriously because he owed drug lords money the mafia tries to extort other riders, or in Kansas for the Dodge City Rodeo and fourth of July celebration and abusive husband and his biker friends are out to get the new person and their friends while they're in town. But I've moved on alas. Staff oversight would go a long ways, we had to many retired feds ir drug Lord's or assassin historians in the end it was like some modern law drama.
ETA: corrections on my phone silly me

I would play the shit out of Empire Records: The MUSH.
I'd play the shit out of generic 90s. Like Singles meets Friends, doyne random city neighborhood starting to become trendy with a few hangouts. Some bands, some coffee shops, some random drama. Like Old City Philly or Brick Town Detroit. Take the various groups from Higher Learning or, better, PCU (John Favreau with dreads) as factions trying to have the coolest hangout or something (we can't go to Roasted Ground, it's full of grunge kids, ewww). Or on a college and African Nation's vs Hacky Sac blazoids for best music in the quad (digable planets Cool Like That on one blaster, Chili Peppers higher ground on the other, both groups wearing flannels).

I was not asked to leave, I was thrown out without warning. If you'd told me you wanted me to stop blethering, I could have stopped blethering.
This right here. You keep repeating this part that comes off angry. Everyone has answered. You are not owed an explanation. They gave one here. It is time for you to move on from this topic. You're getting answers just not the ones that work for your logic.
I work as an interventionist irl, this is the same thing I say to my high functioning Asperger's teens. Just because it's not the answer you're looking for doesn't mean it wasn't an answer. You just disagree and nothing wrong with disagreeing but there is a time to let it go. Good luck finding another game.

seriously I was barely in my right mind at the time, you can't go by that. (I am NOT going to go into what was going on, not here, just want to say that I don't mean I was high, as it sounds rather like that!)
Whatever state of mind it was, you made the choice to go there in that mind frame, that's the face you showed them and they can go by that presentation of yourself. You know what it was, maybe try the next game in a better mindset. The Mud Connector ir Top Mud Sites is a good place to start, then add on bboards in games, but based on responding in an angry tone here I'm less inclined to recommend friends games.
Surviving social distancing. Disassembled my vacuum and reassembled it cause it sounded like a dying giraffe (I work on my own car, but these screws are so tiny I was sure I'd lose things or break it).
Hands! Lightning from my hands! Dun dun duuuun.
Okay, half of this is cause I got lightning from my hands stuck in my head and I wanted to share the ear worm.
I'm curious about the results of this survey. I filled it out.
More narrow/refined would be good. Like mentioned, bat family for DC or spideyverse for marvel. Street level, one comic canon not multi-verse. Diesel punk 1930s with villians in deisel mecha suits and heroes to stop them via powers or better diesel tech could be fun without mixing up like fantastic four and justice league and asgardians etc. Would help people find connections and focus rp to get folks together.
Spidey with alchemical webbing and spider stuff versus kingpin in a diesel punk suit iron suit sort of stuff. Or Bat man in the mecha suit versus joker's mad science plans. I think street level would be ideal so the diesel punk makes more sense and is easier played up.

Dragon Prince
I'll second this, i liked this serious.
Adult but not really dark ... Future Man on Hulu, it's pretty strongly crude but not dark.
Locke & Key is interesting, conceptually and in execution. Story development is well paced for me. Not done with it but enjoying this series.
I'd be interested to know what's out there too. More curious if there is anything non-multi-verse (DC + Marvel + Everything else) out there. I am curious if its a dying genre despite the popularity in movies and TV series. I tried an OC game last year, had like one player try it.

Huh. The MCU is still a thing?
Yes, with other releases to follow including Moon Knight and She Hulk as part of MCU. They did release Runaways season 3 on Hulu and Disney plus. While ghost rider series was cancelled, Helstrom (damien\satana the siblings) is releasing 1st ( and last) season in Hulu this year at least. Movie verse is going bigger picture on the big picture with like Eternals and Adam Warlock/Magus coming into focus.

True story. Saw a Christian high school with their team name "Trojans", which is fuckin weird because Troy was dedicated to Apollo.
Yeah, its certainly better when Christian founded/based schools go with a demonic mascots, like Blue Devils.
I don't know what its all about either, but now I want the option of 70s muscle gods on vans murals meets 80s death metal bands and its some concept of demons fighting for souls and the comic heroes are some sort of angels/fallen demi-gods/gods/chosen ones fighting the demons through music and GWAR style weapons. Which comic place vote is that one?
ETA: My hero is based on Iron Maiden songs, called it - DIBS

Those are Canadian franchises.
