Ares is significantly more end-user friendly. My dislike of Arxcode's excess complexity and difficulty to learn for a new player is pretty well-stated,

I've enjoyed the back and forth you and @gryphter have been having! Interesting things to consider between the two, but I just wanted to highlight this and add: Arx code can and should be used for future fantasy games, if that's what people are looking for, but I feel like the setting needs to fit it. @org leadership and management stuff seems a bit beyond what most people would want out of the Wheel of Time.

    • The Wheel of Time

Has anyone else been watching this?

I've seen the first four episodes and while I do wish that the 1st episode would have been an hour and a half or two hours to flesh a few things out a bit more, I find that I am highly enjoying the series with the most recent episode, Ep 4, being pretty damned awesome.

Highly recommend catching it if you want a bit of a fantasy fix. There's still 4 more episodes to come for this first season but they are filming season 2 right now and hopefully numbers are good that a 3rd is given a go.

    • RE: A new platform?

@thatguythere I think the overwhelming popularity of programs like Slack and Discord kind of indicate that people generally like having channels be their own pages. At least it's not something I've ever seen someone complain about.

Also, I'm on a Discord with several hundred people as well as a Slack that has almost a thousand people in it. Having channels be their own page makes catching up on conversations far, far easier. I'd probably shoot myself if I had to go through all the slack messages to see which ones I was actually interested in. So much easier to just click on the channel and catch up on what I missed.

Sigh. Atlantis remains the only thing I would want to get a Mac for/use OSX for. Looking at pictures of it in action makes me pine for it, especially the spawn windows. I'm totes fucking jelly of it.

There's a reason that the series ends at that point, everything after it is a very differnt story.

You know better that than! There are neither beginnings or endings.

There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel sir, but it was an ending, to an age at least.

@arkandel Yeah, the polyamorous relationship between a Green and her warders was on point. It was funny seeing Nynaeve's face for a sec when Lan went to go hang out with Moiraine though, lol. I'm really happy that the general characterization of their relationship is on full display. They are and have always been partners in their war against the Shadow, nothing less, nothing more. I hope we get to see more Aes Sedai and warders and their various relationships as the show progresses.

Hell, I would also love a few New Spring flashbacks too. Especially for Moiraine and Siuan.

One of the best quotes of 2020 right here:

One (dev) asked: How could they make a game about exploitative corporations while forcing devs to crunch?

      applaud

      What a fucking baller.

@nessa said in Idling all day on MU*s:

if I logged in to see 8 people active and RPing, even when not with me, I'd feel energized by that place and keep logging in, trying to RP there because 100% of the folks (or close to) are playing! Let's build this thing! If I saw 22 out of 30 people inactive while logged in, and 8 people doing something where I can't join ... then only 27% of the people are playing versus 100%.

What tugs at me about this is that it's still 8 people RPing in both scenarios, but if a game only has 8 people logged in versus 30 people logged in, my brain would say, "Oh the game with 30 people logged in has more RP potential" than a game with only 8 people whether they are all active or not.

Either way it's 8 people RPing.

Closed scenes on Ares games don't count.

I really like Ares, but yeah it seems like each game you go to there is 8 scenes going on and their all private ones. Which, is fine I guess, but that's gonna be hard to pull in new people I think.

      @Kireek said in Arx- Gareth:

@Glitch It's not so much that she played that character- but if she wanted me to change my behavior or act differently around her.. she should of told me.. Instead I just kept blundering about offending her and getting onto her shit list. How am I supposed to change behaviors related to certain people that upset them if they don't communicate them? It's not that I think she went out of her way to do that, she just neglected to totally inform me of it happening.

What the fucking fuck. Reread what you wrote and then think about it. If you feel you need to change behaviors around certain people, maybe your behavior is the problem and you should stop behaving that way in general.
