I see @Aria talking about a Philly WoD game, and now all I want is a Philly WoD game where Gritty is some sort of supernatural creature that beats the shit out of alt-righters.

      gritty

But I've also pined over 7th Sea for quite some time too, so I know @Cobaltasaurus's feels there.

Honestly? Just limit people to 1 PC.

I agree with this. I'm not the biggest person when it comes to tons of alts, but I'm not sure why every game sees the need to have an alt policy either. Sometimes only having one character can fit the desired size of the game better than allowing alts.

    • RE: Interest/Volunteer Check: Major Multisphere Chronicles of Darkness

As someone who's played Law Enforcement on a WoD MU before, here's my take on things.

I don't give a fuck about what the majority of Crime PCs do on the grid. You want to be a drug dealer, or have your little den of sin, who the fuck cares. The issue of PC vs PC arises (at least for me) when someone does something monumentally stupid as fuck. Like if you decide you want to open fire in the middle of the street, I see no reason why Police PCs can't open fire right back. Aside from that, I have little issue with people getting busted for possession and then let go the next day or something like that being hand-waved. It creates RP, it creates contacts and relationships between characters.

That being said, some sort of Metro Task Force would be a good way of going about things and probably makes sense given the state of things post-9/11. I would also suggest making Law Enforcement Mortal only. Nothing sucks more monkey dick as a detective than Mages coming in and rolling all sorts of dice to "solve" the case in a handful of turns. And I say this as someone who genuinely likes Mage.

This isn't hobby related but I feel like kind of a monster because of it. I wanted a sweet delicious treat and decided to try the vanilla frosty from Wendy's instead of the normal, righteous frosty. People should pray for me for making such a decision.

As for the worst thing I've done in this hobby? Trusting someone I shouldn't have.

Is it as poor as a vanilla frosty?

ALSO YOU KNOW WHAT ANGERS ME WENDY'S?

Your breakfast potato wedge things are goddamn DELICIOUS and your normal fries are ASS. WHY CAN I NOT GET THE POTATO WEDGES ALL DAY

I didn't know about grits until I was 18. Like seriously, had never heard of them or encountered them. It wasn't until I joined the military and got sent to basic training, and then I was in a chowline and there were grits where I had to be like-- what are those? to a fellow trainee.

That's a real shame. Grits and cheese grits are amazing.

But even so - calling somebody an idiot is not hate speech, nor is agreeing with somebody calling somebody an idiot. Unless there was doxxing, RL threats, etc. involved, I'm still not seeing how this is some horrific job-endangering action. She was rude, yes, and I believe people should treat each other better.

I think the problem with the situation is that the person she called out is a major community contributor to ArenaNet, someone who streams and makes videos for the game to the point where they have an NPC in the game named after him. So it wasn't some "rando" trying to engage, it was someone who has ties with the company engaging with a developer on a topic he had interest in (and it later came out he had a speech in one of his streams wildly praising her work).

I've never understood why people are willing to blindly accept all kinds of supernatural ridiculousity in a setting, but then something like its setting is just untenable. A million people? In one city in Maine!? That's ridiculous!!!

But... it makes sense that supernatural monsters/creatures have been around since forever and only a teeny tiny sub-percentage of the population has ever been aware of them because the one thing people do really well consistently throughout the history of human existence is keep secrets well.. That part makes sense. Why would anyone question that.

Because there's only one city in the entire northeast US with over 500,000 people and that's Boston, lol. If you want a big ass city with supernatural elements, there's lots of other states that work just as well. And hell, plenty of supernatural shit you can do in the American South.

Donno if this has been suggested before, and it's practically already done in Arx, but:

      Crusader Kings 2. Amirite?

I'm honestly not sure the plotting and shit could end up working out. I could see a lot of the politics of it becoming quite a clusterfuck.

Right? Wouldn't it be glorious? xD

We'd have so many horses as ministers.

You could always put an artificial timer on things too. Make it so people have to try and get their shit together by X month of X year before the hordes come murdering everyone.

So been playing the Spider-Man game on PS4 and it's real good. Combat is fast, moving around Manhattan is cool, and the story stuff seems interesting, at least for someone who has a cursory knowledge of Spider-Man stuff. The one down side is some of the side content is downright repetitive, so I do kind of give it a few knocks against it for that.

To combat the repetitive side missions, I've been trying a different tactic.

      I get really, really stoned.

Joke(kind of) aside, I'm loving this game. Web swinging around NYC is always fun. Relaxing like a smart garden. With punching and witty dialogue.

Haha. Yeah. It's the crimes man. THE CRIMES. But I finally cleared them all yesterday and got my gold trophy for 100%ing every district. Now to finish up the main story and get that Platinum.

....Unless you're going to set a game in Philadelphia. Because then I expect you to do my city proud and set the Four Seasons next to a crematorium and a dildo store as Ben Franklin intended.

Plus plenty of opportunities for interesting NPCs for Philly MUSH: https://nypost.com/2018/02/05/eagles-fan-thinks-eating-horse-poop-is-cool/

Believe me, there is nothing horrible you can say about Philadelphia that Philadelphians haven't already said themselves.

I wasn't actually trying to say something horrible! Philly sports fans are so f'n crazy you can literally make some wild and crazy NPCs for any sort of modern day MUSH.

Yeah. I don't think the pace will be breakneck at all. Sure, RP will probably happen a lot, but actual spell development and character growth are going to be at a more measured pace just because of how this version of FS3 works. So it's going to take time for people to grow into their magical powers and stuff, which is great. It's not throwing people into the deep end all at once.

Anyone else playing the beta for this? So far it plays very well, smooth experience all around. And the gunplay is pretty good too. Also the detail of going through post-apoc DC that doesn't look completely jacked like in Fallout 3 is pretty sweet.

See why a wiki is better, g'dammit?

      No.

ETA: People following the rules, and the rules being enforced consistently, is better.

Yeah, still not seeing the value of the wiki. I mean... "don't post to the ad threads unless you're the OP". How hard is that for people to follow? We're all (allegedly) adults here.

I too think a wiki is unnecessary with what is currently happening. If moderation is an issue, seems like getting a new moderator would be an easier option than building a wiki.

@auspice Papa Johns had promotions for whenever the Redskins won a game, so one Monday when I was hungry af, I decided to put in an order. Ended up the promotion was 8 toppings but alas, Papa Johns only allowed a max of two of each topping. So I had 2x bacon, 2x pepperoni, 2x ham, 2x sausage. It was a real dumb pizza lol.
