Winning at Letters is really difficult for Jack if the sleuths are paying any attention, there's very little room for fuckups.

@Cupcake Do you mean the Prophetess? We usually had to discard that character because she would always win, getting 2 adventure cards and picking one was way OP.

RE: The Board Game Thread
My bestie in Jr. High and High School had all the expansions for Talisman, so we'd play that a LOT.
These days I'm loving Battlestar Galactica/Shadows of Camelot depending if I'm in the mood for sci-fi or fantasy.

Is Twilight Imperium the game where the first one to deploy the space-boobs wins? My group's played it a few times and it didn't really stand up to repeated playthroughs.

RE: FS3
And there's no "riposte" type action for deflecting blasters with your lightsaber.
Would adding lightsaber to the blaster weapons work? The way cannons are resisted by piloting instead of reflexes?

@Thenomain I'm not a huge fan of the rain. 3 winters in vancouver was way worse than anything Edmonton or Winnipeg has to dish out.

It's snowing on the second to last day of summer! No more rain!

RE: Highlanders in Red Alert
Yeah, watchers would probably work perfectly for this sort of thing, I totally forgot about those guys. I could probably seguey an old Black Ops game into it, too. Hmm.

Highlanders in Red Alert
Hey gang,
I asked my tabletop group which setting they'd like the next game I run to take place in, Highlander or Red Alert, and they kind of went bonkers for a silly mashup of the two.
Fortunately, I have some time to prepare before our current 7th sea game winds down, so I thought I'd mine you all for some ideas.
Originally, I was thinking they could be highlanders in the middle ages and just fast forward every time they finish an adventure, but then I was reading some suggested rules for a highlander game, where normies can kill a highlander and become a potential after soaking their quickening.
With that in mind, I was thinking of putting them right into the Red Alert scenario, with all the big players being immortals ramping up for the game. Like those Nod dudes being one clique, teh sekzie Ruskies being another and the US of A being a third, with a sprinkling of special agent assasssins lurking around with swords instead of pistols.
Do you think it would make more sense to have the PCs all be potentials already? Or merely pawns in the big game?
Any thoughts or ideas? I'm still at the very early stages of daydreaming about this.

RE: Eliminating social stats
@Seraphim73 If you could frame it as some sort of Madlibs Mush, I think it would be a hoot for a couple of weeks. Maybe as some sort of election cycle special event. If you roll poorly, you have to pose your candidate doing something goofy.

RE: Eliminating social stats
After reading all this, I really want to mess with FS3 to make argument weapons now. Deciding faction directions and goals would be hilarious.

RE: RL Anger
The best is when my office has a company paid for lunch thing and they get all huffy when I bring my own lunch because their vegan options always boil down to an apple and some carrot sticks splashed with ranch dressing that you can totally just wipe off. Like, just fuck off, if you're not going to spring for actual options, don't make this shit mandatory to attend and then get bitchy when I bring my own food.

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
@ThatGuyThere It might be worth an email? I would love a GURPs based mush install.

Re: GURPS
My understanding is you're not allowed to use it on a MUSH. Or at least that was the case years ago.
The language in the books is really weird. It specifically mentions finding games online in chat rooms, but on the website, poops on muds.
I'm not sure what they mean by property, I'm guessing setting stuff. Maybe running a game using GURPs is fine because of the second question? We'd probably have to hire Gany to parse this up.

Its a shame social skills are so verboten. Using social skills to affect large amounts of people to act on a metaplot sounds sorta cool.
So combat characters it is!I've been tweaking FS3 to have command skills driving vehicles of NPCs around for napoleonic line battles and it seems to be working when I have time to test.
I think what I want to do with social skills is use them for governing cadres of npc colonists to generate various points for their leader PC. So far it's all kind of on a ganky spreadsheet. I think it might be too cumbersome though, I just have fond memories of mashing +dig on Lost Generation, and thought it would be fun to have desperate colonists mashing +science before the planet ate them.

They didn't need any more proof than him admitting he chucked Aunt Liza through the moon door.
If Arya didn't do it, Bronze Royce would have.

Presently I'm halfway through Highlander The Series season 2, and I'm delighting in how terrible it is. I remember when it was one of my favorite programs, and now a lot of it makes me groan and roll my eyes.
I used to work with a guy who was on the set crew for this show. Adrien Paul apparently hated life because his fan base was all way older than he was. He did get lots of gaunch mailed to him, though.

@WTFE what kind of adventures are you going to go on with those hats? You need machetes, knee socks and khaki short shorts to go with them!
