I tried so hard to like 7th Sea, but the system was just awful. Our table has ported over to Savage worlds using the super fun setting, but man, that system.. Yeesh. My GM says it's his favourite, but knowing the end of your story before you start your story is just taking the G out of RPG. Nothing had any weight to it, or sense of risk because characters can't die--it's in the rules.

RE: Space Games and Travel Time? Why? Why Not?
So, here's a crazy idea, why not have space adventure games in localized areas where moving from one spot to the other in a RL day isn't some sort of immersion breaking feat?
I've played on star wars games that were localized in a sector, where it would take maybe 3 IC days to go from coast to coast, and it was awesome because this wasn't an issue.
Then others where you cross the galaxy at the speed of plot (and had to because the gun store was located on one planet, and the gaunch store was located on another) and it was shitty because in the middle of plots the PHB would say, everyone in my office, now!! and people would have to ditch out on the fun, despite the fact that it would take IC days for the orders to come in, but oocly the boss was having a shit fit over some random thing.
Anyways, design a setting with this in mind, I guess.

@surreality ya, I really only started drinking coffee recently. Maybe coffee drinking is like serial killing, you have to progress through stages or something.

RE: RL Anger
My short review of Paranormal Activity:
If your idea of a good time is having loud noises and sudden movement startle you, then you are either a house cat or someone who liked Paranormal Activity. The fact that this series got several sequels/installments serves to reinforce my belief that ill-educated people will always confuse pornography for sex.
I sort of understand why this is the case. This movie came out around the same time that YouTube got kind of popular, and porn tubes started to proliferate. People like to have what they want immediately, and to have it be as gratifying as possible. I shouldn't say "people", though; rather, this is the common perception of what we are entitled to, as this is as horrifyingly incorrect as labeling Paranormal Activity as entertaining.
The only thing paranormal about the movie is its popularity. It's spooky. Whereas horror fans could have enjoyed gems like The Orphanage (Il Orphanato) or [REC], they instead found themselves adulating this awful cinematic abortion that's about as fun as voyeur porn at a convenience store: something exciting might happen if you lower your standards enough, but you're probably better off buying a subscription to BangBros., which produced more films that are more entertaining, humorous, and tongue-in-cheek than Paranormal Activity.
It'd probably make more sense too.
I thought PA was scary AF. I saw it a couple weeks before moving into my current place, which is the first apartment I've had with hot water heating. Damn those midnights creaks and pops, fucking noises kept me from sleeping for 3 months! Much scarier than REC, though REC was a much more interesting movie.
Anyways, back to pornhub.

This will lose me points, but I really like weak coffee. My coworkers make this battery acid that makes everything cosmic all the time, and brag about strong coffee but fuck that shit, I like coffee that tastes good and doesn't trigger migraines.

RE: What locations do you want to RP in?
Is vegas that city with the burger-joint/gun range that made the news for the little girl shooting the instructor?
It should have that.

RE: General Video Game Thread
I've been having a lot of fun with Mordheim lately. So much so, it's pulled me away from mushing. It's basically a warhammer fantasy Xcom, with a better RNG(meaning you don't always seem to miss those 80% shots).

@Arkandel this is how you rock the Killjoy disadvantage in GURPS. Now you can spend your afternoons trying to discover what they've used those extra 15 pts on. It sounds like bumping Accounting and Repair up to +2

RE: Lords of the Expanse
@Lotherio I was thinking about this hack for doing a hackers type scenario as well. Having a group of PCs driving their decks as they attack the SysOp running their Gibson has me very happy. Using floppies as ammo, taking cover in a directory tree as the ICE hunts them down..
Especially as I realize the vehicle code could have the computers blowing up star trek style and killing the users!
One of these days I'll get around to taking this seriously rather than working on my steam backlog.

RE: Good TV
My experience with PKing is usually more setting based. Is my character an amoral type who shoots NPCs willy nilly? Is the target of the PK someone my character knows, like at all? If it's just some random being an asshole, you best believe I'll treat them like an NPC and not sweat it.
I've only really had it come up once in a Star Wars game where my character was a murderer for hire with the Sith, and some tool started getting aggro with them in a bar when they were trying to relax.

RE: RL Anger
I have a row of dominos at work just waiting to be kicked off, and here I am waiting for a decision to get the ball rolling. Basically, I could be happily busy having days that fly by, but upper management is dithering on making the call, and I just found out half the committee is off on vacation until late July, when the other half heads off.
My summer project isn't going to start until late fucking September.

My bike is old and hard to pedal. A lot of people have questioned me for purposefully riding a heavy bike. I tell them that this is the point.
You can get a chain cleaning kit for about $20 with degreaser. When I clean my chain, it's like getting a new bike. If it's really really old and messed up, a new chain + a chain tool is a bit more, but worth it if you like bike riding.

The front end staff of my physio suck. She said today wasn't good because my therapist was on vacation today, so I book for tuesday and then leaves a message this morning saying I missed my appointment. UGH.

Fallout 4 is a $5
Yeah, I gotta agree with this. FO4 is like the Star Wars Battlefront last year, it looked pretty sekzy, but there was only about 5 hours worth of fun to be wrung out of it. If they had a playable demo, I would not have bought it.
