    • RE: Good TV

It's not a bad thing, these days it seems like every director has suddenly developed a smoking fetish and it's kind of bizarre to watch when it's a much more uncommon thing these days.

I think tv creators are just too used to using it as a crutch for DRAMA

@Bobotron They were called the dark ages for a reason, we get to make whatever we like up! 😄

I think a dark ages setting might actually get me to try WOD

@Admiral ugh, I tried it as a stopgap for the bannerlord itch, but it's too arcadey, though I had fun on horde mode, the large battles are trash.

@Rinel Yeah, the first third of 1 was dogshit. I ran into a glitch that made it impossible to proceed and had to start over.

I remember the second half of the game picking up, but that first half was such a bad experience I don't know if I'll ever replay it.

I don't get the hate that Witcher 2 gets, it was a fun game with a cool story.

@Wretched just tried the rpg today, it's pretty good! The cyberpunk 2020 system is brutal and grimdark without cyberarmour, though. First npc attack killed one of the PCs with an arrow to the face!

I discovered this channel a few months ago, and have been working through the videos. This one is great:

@Jaded If you liked 2, reviews have said 3 is good.

Season 2 lost me pretty quick, it was too meandering and slow to get any kind of hook in there, though I hear the last few episodes really came through, I might just skip to the end.

I prefer OC, not because of the ^^ weirdness, just cause IP is already done, world building done, stories told and such for me.

Yeah, reading their policy it leaves me feeling they only believe people would be cribbing from their licensed setting books rather than just using the GURPS rules for homebrew settings.

Steve Jackson Games is so weird. They have a bizarre idea of what a mush is versus online play http://www.sjgames.com/general/online_policy.html

They seem to think that mushes are professional games rather than a form of chat room. I guess kudos to people who create mushes for leaving that impression.

@SG I keep thinking about the possibilities for a Grendel game. Do you see the PCs pretty much all as Khan soldiers interacting with different NPCs, Grendel Tales-style? Would the game be best served if set around a kind of wandering through different territories?

I've done a few table top campaigns loosely based on the setting from Devils and Deaths, and thought it worked well. Sort of a collection of petty warlords temporarily banding together against some foreign threat before they start their squabbles with each other. Maybe the PCs are the ones that can see the bigger picture over the warlords vying for their vain power? A lot of people seem to like politics type games, that might work for people to try and unify the area... Only to have the Khan's forces show up and put everyone in their place in the finale.

But mostly, there needs to be a motorcycle polo team playing in the old football stadium.

@SG That does sound awesome, except the "Jedi" problem will inevitably pop up: too many will want to play the equivalent of a Grendel Prime badass and not "Dogshit the Grendel impostor & local extortionist"

I don't know, Prime was specifically a unique creation for moving the plot. If anything screamed Staff Cutscene NPC, it's Grendel Prime.

In a kind of post apocalyptic vein, I'd love a game based on Grendel War Child. Maybe in an area with a vampire problem. Man, 90s Dark Horse comics were the best. Everyone could play cynical soldiers with Crow tattoos on their faces who mirthlessly die horrible deaths at the hands of their friends and allies.

And how the effing fuck has there never been a GI JOE mu? Or has there been?

A few years back I ran a short Black Ops campaign that involved invading Cobra Island after ruining Destro's presentation at an arms trade show and it was a hoot. We learned the fun way how valuable helmets and windshields are in GURPS, as one character lived through 4 deagle shots after an ambush in his safehouse garage.

I think a Savage Rifts game would be sweet AF. My last TT Rifts campaign used it and it was so much fun, we mixed Rifts and Planescape and had a combat cyborg and glitter boy fuck up Lankhmar, it was glorious.
