No-selling character skills and abilities. I don't want or expect a single PC ability to be an instant win button on any scenario, but the times when GMs have shut down or bent over backwards to decide a character's extremely relevant skills/abilities Just Don't Work because they didn't think about them when building the challenge is kinda silly.

OMG this is so frustrating. My current TT GM does this. Like 5e, rolling above 15 is supposed to be good for many things, but he constantly only gives good info for spots or history checks with 20+. Ugh.

GM Bad Habit: Throwing a Big Bad in front of low level players expecting them to run away.

I get that having a teaser of what is to come is sometimes a great thing, but this is so overused(In mushes and TableTop), I've seen and am now a player who will almost never go for it because almost every encounter is a death sentence.

As a GM, it's taken me years to get my players to trust friendly NPCs, after having one screw the party over back in the day. I've also done a lot of work rehabbing my group with having realistic stats for bad guys instead of 'Scaling for level'.

Anyways, this came to mind saturday when my TT GM jumped our fresh 3rd level characters with a fucking Aboleth. We tried to run, but cultists teleported in and kept us from getting away and now we have a jellified illusionist in a bucket.

I really would like to get the collector edition but god fucking damn 250 is a lot. And I tend to waste a ton of money anyways, but still.

TO add to that, it might be time to update my 12 year old pc..

@Jaded From the New Yorker, my favourite criticism:

The one noticeable mistake in this respect concerns the series makers’ apparent ignorance of the vast divisions between different socioeconomic classes in the Soviet Union: in the series, Valery Legasov (Jared Harris), a member of the Academy of Sciences, lives in nearly the same kind of squalor as a fireman in the Ukrainian town of Pripyat. In fact, Legasov would have lived in an entirely different kind of squalor than the fireman did.

@SG Yes. This is what news in Canada consists of. Throw in a few pics of beautiful landscapes ON FIRE, a few selfies, a sport report, and you've got yourself a full broadcast.

      Fixed that for you.

Didn't one of the show runners say they had Arya kill the night king specifically because nobody had called that, and they just wanted to surprise people? Like, if that's how you write your stories, you should totally brace for impact and not complain.

@bear_necessities said in Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?:

What drives me crazy is when a staff has an NPC but that they use to be the star of a plot. No. Stop that. That is for PCs. If you want to be the star of your show, make a PC.

lol, my D&D GM does this. The guy has a fetish for his idiot rogue he played in another campaign and now that he's running one, has turned it into some sort of celebrity hero that the NPCs bring up at every opportunity. It's kind of annoying.

@Ghost Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only consistent thing about organic foods is that they have carbon atoms somewhere in them. Every company seems to have a different definition of what organic is, and it doesn't seem to be regulated in North America like it is in Europe.

@SG Will add that to the list, will have to omit the semisweet chocolate (Not vegan) Berry tofu... interesting.

Shop around, quite a few brands of semisweet are actually vegan. The Superstore house brand and kirkland from costco are last I checked.

Do we have vegetarians or vegans in our midst?

What do you guys think about Impossible Foods and manufactured meat in general?

Let's talk food habits more under the scope of how it relates to social or health issues than just what we like to shove into our mouths.

Vegan, I think Impossible Foods and lab grown meat are fantastic things for helping the environment and limiting suffering. Personally, I tend to stay away from things that are accurately imitating meat because I first became vegetarian after working at a deli and think meat's groady, and I've become accustomed to the hockypuck veggie burgers, and really didn't notice the difference at all with hot dogs versus veggie dogs, they both taste like ass, and you drown them in condiments anyways.

Health wise? I think getting away from Dairy has been the best thing I've ever done for my health. My eczema pretty much disappeared, like easily 90% reduced after eliminating dairy.

It would be a great Fiasco setting, but I think it would require more work than I want, and in the past, Fiasco hasn't been a great draw at the local con.
