    • RE: The Waiting Game

Personally, if I were in your shoes and haven't rpd with Sam much, I'd just retcon and swap out the names for some NPC that's very Sam-like and get on with life after the first contact attempt failed.

Unless you're into catching up on Farscape while having a mush window open, there's no reason to put your life on hold around someone else's busy schedule, especially if there are other players who'd like to play with you.

    • RE: McGregor V Diaz

McGregor is going to destroy Diaz, I don't think it will be close.

The only plus side is going to be the farcical trash talking going on. Usually they only have one chirper in a match, but now they have two!

@Pyrephox >Likewise, if the PCs are just /killing the hell/ out of a villain that I'd planned to be the Big Bad, I usually won't give it a get-out-of-death-free card (because that's annoying), but it WILL turn out that the villain was a henchman all along or will leave a clue hinting at a bigger, badder conspiracy.

I've done this a couple of times. In my dark heresy game, one of the clerics one shotted Gortax the Champion of Khorne and we all had a big laugh as he took out the mighty chain sword carapace armour wearing guy with bleeding eyes with a gas can pulled from a chimera.

After we finished laughing at the death of poor Gortax, we had his evil twin brother Xatrog arrive and we had the epic fight everyone was craving.

I think I'd be hesitant to have them being members of opposing factions, as every time I can remember this happened, the hambeast forced hubby to betray their faction in order to become queen bee.

    • RE: DMs, GMs, STs: Do you fudge rolls?

If I'm relying on dice rolls for some sort of outcome, I try to never fudge a roll. If there's a chance that something awful would happen that I as DM couldn't deal with, I wouldn't even involve dice and just dictate a certain outcome.

I have a table top GM that rolls behind a screen, and it's obvious that he's fudging rolls and it's the most boring thing ever, the game has become 'let's make the situation so outrageous that we couldn't possibly survive' and then watch how we're all knocked to 1HP and then all of a sudden the bad guys can't hit anything for 10 rounds while we eek out a victory.

The only time that I'd toss away a die roll is if I discover I've majorly screwed up on the rules for a situation, and then I'd probably re-roll it with the correct rules being applied.

@Arkandel I feel this way about Dragon Age. The fighting in that game is so awful.

I don't even like deadpool, but this movie was a lot of fun! Almost fun enough to make me unashamed to say I like (movie) deadpool!

      Always loved this about TGG.

I felt the campaigns were a bit quick once it switched to WWII, but that might be because school got busy for me.

Though listening to dude obsessing over becoming a sniper and having his dudes die ever weekend was kind of fun as well.

@Botulism I kinda have this thought going for what I want to do for a rifts type mush. First arc will be The Mist(everyone playing townies-Basically beta testing), Followed by Half-life(the survivors get jobs at black mesa), and then Rifts when the world has really gone to hell under the combine. I'm just trying to learn how to code so I can do up a savage worlds system for when Savage Rifts comes out.

I did some roleplaying in CompuServe's CB Simulator

I hope this is like a Jack Burton simulator, please tell me it was a bunch of people all pretending to be Jack Burton jawing on while driving trucks!

    • Wikis vs Forums

I've been thinking about how many games use wikis, and they seem like great tools, but I do find some of them(mostly ones I encounter at work) to be poorly made with referencing and linking to other related materials which makes searching difficult.

I find I really dig this forum setup, and was wondering if anyone's come across a MU that uses forums instead of wikis (or both?) for their WWW presence?

I know a lot of people prefer house rules to be included on the mush itself, which is nice, but I find once a game gets to a certain age, they quite often become rather difficult to find and sort through.

@ThugHeaven So stoked. I'm really pleased that they're kind of following the creation of the Duke of Normandy thing I read about when the show first started and I read about the people the show was based on.

    • RE: Best-In-Genre MU*?

@Shayd I think the best games (Lost Generation and Battlestar) I've played on had endgames in mind before they opened their doors. They weren't designed as perpetual motion machines with no end in sight.

I do have fun in some genre games like shadowrun and star wars, but they're basically sandboxes with lasers and magic to me, trying to establish an overarching story that involves all players in such settings seems pointless to me, and I tend to get miffed when I try to do something and am told that Player X from Planet Y is doing that and I have to do it with them. What if I don't like rping with Player X? Why can't we both be scumbag criminals with our own ships and crew?

@lordbelh You could cheat and drop five pounds before going for it. That's how I got to five from my usual maximum of 3.

@Thenomain headaches are the worst though. After suffering two years of tendonitis and plantar fasciitis I'd gladly take those again over a goddamned headache. I'm really glad that I just go blind from my migraines rather than getting the super painful ones.

@tragedyjones Yeah, they're basicaly clones. I'm sad that the show isn't focusing on the two dorky guys who wanted to heroes in the first episode, they were a lot of fun, but now they're just chopping potatoes in the background or something. But maybe the broody mop tops will kill each other in a suicide pact in the next few episodes so we can get away from the moody love triangle they're setting up with one of them. Here's hoping. But that will probably happen after Stockholm Syndrome girl sneaks off with hot muscley bondage guy.

@tragedyjones Do either of the two main dudes get a haircut or a different coloured shirt? It's confusing because they both look exactly the same to me--shaggy brown mop-top, grey shirt. Is it a plot device that they're basically twins?
