Folks, please be honest (if you want to be). When it comes to TS how much are your characters' preferences typically an extension of your own OOC ones?

I don't mean that just in the vanilla way - i.e. that they have the same sexual orientation as you do - although that can apply as well. More specifically, whatever your kinks might be, do your PCs tend to have the same ones or not?

Once upon a time, I ended up having a huge blow up with a person who I played with semi-regularly over his inability to accept that because he knew I liked something in the bedroom, and a character of mine reacted violently (after his PC was ICly warned, even). It ultimately ended with me having to block him on discord and elsewhere because it ultimately came out how very very thin the IC/OOC separation was for him.

Getting my vaccine in like 2 seconds. Anxiety has me in tears. Logic says this will be fine but the lizard brain is in full meltdown. Sigh.

I am covering for a friend at work, publishing a newsletter on the day off. Reviewing said publication before sending it out is how I just found out another one of my work buddies died yesterday (while we were closed for a funeral). I am so tired of being surrounded by death.

I'm questioning why there is this enormous pushback on 'hey, you OK?' happening.

I want to know why the people who are objecting to a simple check-in are objecting to it.

ETA: Which is to say I agree with you on this; I am really interested in hearing the opposite perspective because I straight up don't understand it.

Bless you, CBD roller. I have not had to take a pain day yet this season. I just rub this stuff on my wrists and the pain evaporates. I CAN TYPE. The difference a few minutes makes is "relief cry" territory, too. I am so glad my body chemistry makes this work.

It probably has gained me several years of life (and CERTAINLY has made a big difference in the quality of the years I have left), because this shit was my "try this before going on narcotics permanently" hail mary.

At this point, a pay cut will be made up for in the "this place is not a trash fire" department, I think. I'd rather see you somewhere that realized you were a human being that paid a little less than the nightmare you're in right now for ANY amount of money. Yes. I read it all. I am not going to go point by point because the fundamental difference here is perspective and priorities, which until you acknowledge that the topic itself has value -- like, not to us, but to yourself -- there isn't a point.

If one more person tries to blame the recent tragedy in my life on the COVID vaccine I am going to stab somebody in the damn face.

The number of times I have now been asked, "Was he vaccinated?" and then got a knowing "ohhhhhhhhh" after is DISGUSTING, leaving me to either explain the gory details of why I know it wasn't that, or letting them think that my partner's death helps justify them continuing to put everyone else at risk.

Yes, there are people that absolutely can abuse this sort of system, but what are they going to accomplish with that abuse?

This sort of system is not being discussed to address irritation, it is being discussed to address harm.

ETA: The reason I have not addressed the topic of being concerned that the hobby is going in this way is that I have no way to express my objections to 'we care about harm to human beings now' being a problem in a fashion that is appropriate outside of the hog pit.

ETA2: Who seriously cares if someone uses +nothanks to get out of a rape scene if they aren't actually traumatized? WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?
