      I don't think anyone here, ever in all its years and different names, has thought that the jolly vitriol was a particularly effective method for valuable discussion.

      Yeah, no. I enjoy being able to call an asshole out as an asshole, but I don't think it's particularly productive to do so. Assholes don't generally like being called on their shit and so glom onto the fact that someone called them NAMES instead of thinking about why they were getting called an asshole in the first place.

      People using the phrase "big pharma". I'm hearing a lot of it right now due to current events, and it drives me nuts. "Big Pharma" is the reason I'm fucking alive right now, thanks.

      Platform is not genre, I think a mush is a text based roleplaying game that is run on one of the mush servers; Dust is a Rhost Mux, etc. Genre is different than that. Online text-based roleplaying games are mu*'s, I think, indicative of all of the different platforms.

      I have to second that; @Bobotron is one of the easiest people ever to work with. Good natured, mellow, and with plenty of brains. If I didn't have a massive project consuming my soul I'd be all over helping out here. If this is the sort of thing that interests you, I very much encourage you to sign up! Whomever you are. 😄

      It's not that there isn't a lot of TS. It's that there's no more TS there than there is on, say, WoD games. Which is accurate.

      I liked a lot of what you had to say. I think it's important to note that there is constructive feedback and feedback that is not constructive. Blahblah blah blah blah blah.

      You're still completely missing the point. Try reading for comprehension rather than reading to support preexisting biases. Nobody actually called you a racist, they used a racial analogy for what you're doing in the hopes that making it so completely clear that you would HAVE to understand the point. Oops.

      If you don't want to be called stupid/an idiot, don't act it. People here aren't going to pull punches because your little feefees could get hurt. The nice thing about this place is that there's no need for me to treat you like a child; the assumption is that you're a grownup, and that when you act like an asshole, you understand that somebody calling you out on it isn't name calling to name call, they're just drawing attention to your behavior.

      You're an idiot because you're not reading for comprehension, missing (purposefully or not) everyone else's point, and continuing to make a spectacle of yourself.

      NONE of the things that have been flung your way are about your site catering to a specific niche.

      AGAIN. None of your reception or the problem people have with you is that OR has a limited scope. None. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. So to blame your reception here on that is a complete cop out.

      One more time.

      Your reception here has nothing to do with OR being focused on a niche.

      Idiot.

      Y'all get a break from me arguing this. I can't type well enough on my phone to be useful.

      I started mushing in 1993. It just sounds pretentious. Many of those here are the same.

      Also, nobody is bloody asking you to change your site to suit us. I personally want you to stop being dicknoses, and to just be honest about your site. Clearly, simply, no qualifiers.

      Do you genuinely not see how stupid this is?

      Hey, look, here you are immediately calling us stupid in your very first post based on words you inserted into @Jeshin's mouth.

      Sigh. No. That's a question. In the same sentence you accuse of inserting words into someone's mouth and then do the same thing.

      I think that's pretty clear as far as the focus of our community goes. It doesn't really delve into the 'automated systems' component of the criteria, but that's borderline implicit in the genre mention and in the permanent death feature itself.

      That's great. It's about clear as mud. Do you know why people get other people to proofread their work? Because when they've written it, they have a hard time spotting the mistakes. It's clear in your head, but that's about it.

      I don't hold this community in general in any sort of disdain, though some of the individuals in it are particularly unimpressive.

      Then quit acting like it. I'm not calling you a condescending prick because I don't like RPI muds. You're summarizing your perspective, which I can guarantee isn't seen the same way. You make ridiculous statements as if they were fact ('how this has gone', rather than 'how this has gone from my perspective', and YES, in a community that revolves around text-based communication it is absolutely an important distinction, particularly when what you're getting called out for is being a condescending jerk).

      I understand what @Thenomain and recently @Sunny have been trying to express in that catering to a specific focus group while still engaging in a lot of broader discourse can send mixed messages.

      Then you don't understand at all, because that's not what I am saying. Maybe Theno is, IDK, but that's not my point.

      Hey, look, here you are immediately starting to attack us for ...

      That's not an attack. That's an attempt to explain that you catch more flies with honey. Because you weren't paying attention then, and you're not paying attention now. Still. Your analogy falls flat. What you've done is walked into a room where everyone is drinking coke, didn't check, and started insulting coke-drinkers because OBVIOUSLY people ought to prefer Pepsi.

      ETA: Also, yes. If you came onto a Coke forum and started advertising for Pepsi, I imagine those folks would get pretty annoyed. They're not there to talk about Pepsi. Y'all came into a discussion forum and said you weren't interested in discussion.

      Except the whole 'coming into a community I don't intend to participate in' bit, which is, again, completely classless.

      You should probably not make assumptions about my intentions. I was very interested in this community, and participating in it insofar as my time and interests allowed, up until the insults started getting thrown around left and right.

      I'm not making assumptions about your intentions, I am reacting to your behavior. I got seriously pissed off by your behavior and by @Jaunt's behavior and started shrieking. Should I have started shrieking? No. I'm not going to go back and delete my posts because that would be dishonest, but straight up your group made me so, so, so mad at how you were treating people here that good sense went out the window. Blah blah blah insulting blah blah, except I didn't start flinging insults without provocation. You don't get to use my reaction today as your reason for not participating in the community weeks ago. @WTFE has already pointed out quite solidly where/how he started getting pissed off and the insults started, so that eliminates that excuse.

      @Crayon

      So let me see if I'm understanding this correctly: you're interested in advertising in this community, but not at all interested in participating in it. Your site allows discussion of other genres of play, but is not aimed/geared towards them. And yet two of the three have been trying and trying to avoid excluding anyone. When it's been pointed out that there's exclusion, there's been argument. If y'all would fully stop all attempts at claiming that you're inclusive of all of mu*dom with your qualifiers and refusal to be definitive, that would pretty much solve most of the issue. Except the whole 'coming into a community I don't intend to participate in' bit, which is, again, completely classless.

      Look. This is a discussion board. It has been stated that y'all are not interested in discussion. Do you guys really not understand why I'm annoyed by these things?

      @Jaunt

      So the OR representatives really need to stop trying to say it's otherwise. It is not about text-based roleplaying. It is about a specific subset of text-based roleplaying. There's nothing wrong with this fact. What's wrong is that the OR representatives have tried to present the site as both. It's not both. That's why this whole fucking argument. Just letting someone in and allowing them to post somewhere doesn't make it inclusive. Not when it's referenced the way it is.

      I know there aren't rules against it or anything else, but it still seems that way. It's like guests posting on advertising bboards on games. It's okay, it's not against the rules, but it still lacks class. We have a great community here, and they come in pissing all over it. No, the rules don't say they can't, but the rules also don't say that I can't get furious with them for doing so.
