      @GirlCalledBlu

      I've already gone into detail in this very thread about the issues I have with the staffing and style that the two of you go with. I think a sandbox game is one of the roads that you guys can go to avoid the problems, you're doing it, I don't have a problem with that at all. But @Ghost, nasty as he's been about it, does have a point. I witnessed the stuff he's complaining about personally, on The 100. I think you're a lovely person, your husband as well, but I don't think either of you should ever, ever run a public game with just the two of you. You have no balancing factors, no one to reality check you, no one to bounce stuff off of. You provide an echo chamber for one another. Not always a problem with everyone who does these things by themselves in a pair, but in the case of the 100, you shut out and shut down a portion of your playerbase because of it, and y'all made some really, really bad decisions.

      @Sunny If they were hurting people emotionally OOC, that's abusive. If they were controlling and pitting people against each other, that's abusive. Making a private sandbox? That's not. Sorry.

      Making a private sandbox? No, the act itself isn't a problem. Their pattern of behavior, that's the problem. The way that they lead people on, that's a problem. The way that they're not honest about their intentions with their games, that's a problem. I think they're nice people, absolutely, but that does not make them immune to having abusive patterns of behavior, nor does it make them incapable of behaving like unethical shits. The private sandbox thing is where they should have gone from the start. The way that they've treated people is absolutely problematic, and their game and staff positions (the 100) were absolutely used to bad effects.

      What I am objecting here to so strongly is this absolute piece of shit statement that YOU made:

      People choosing to play in an online game where they can log off at any time with zero consequence are not being abused, you asshole.

      So again, fuck you.

      ETA: And before you bring out the pity me pain train about your checkered past, DON'T GO THERE. I have been through shit, you don't want to get into that particular pissing contest with me.

      @Sunny If it was real power that impacted people in a way they couldn't avoid, I might agree with you.

      Fuck you.

      @Sunny If you're going to use words like "abusive" or "unethical", the burden is on you to define and explain those terms. they don't mean "things I don't like".

      HE POSTED THE FUCKING DEFINITION (which you then mocked him for). It was spot on. These peoples' behavior IS abusive, whether you like it or not. It's not 'locked me in a closet without food for a week' abusive, no, but in the CONTEXT of a MUSH ENVIRONMENT it absolutely IS abusive and it IS unethical.

      ETA: And for that matter the statement that it can't be abusive because you can turn off the computer and walk away? I have very strong words for this. I am angry that you said this.

      @Ghost You're bringing out the dictionary! How quaint.

      Please read what I actually write, dumpling.

      What the actual fuck here, @tek. What the actual fuck. I am genuinely stunned by your behavior and think you need to check yourself REAL fucking quick, here.

      I'm pretty sure pillowfort is a loaded term for some folks here.

      Yup. And it's actually QUITE apt in this case, too. 🙂 @ghost isn't wrong. He's being an idiot about presentation, but he isn't wrong.

      I so totally second or third or w/e the statement about Luke Cage. Hot damn, that show is fucking amazing. It's not as brutal as Jessica Jones was (thank god), but SO GOOD. Entertaining as hell, super badass.

      I have a good boss. He's competent, fair, reasonable, and intelligent. He's flexible, honest, and straightforward. He did my eval last week, and recognized the things I bring to the team IN WRITING. I have never worked for someone like this before. It's so fucking amazing.

      @Kanye-Qwest

      Yeah. It's been a year and a few months, and I think the shock is really wearing off now. The whole grieving process is stupid and ridiculous and I hate it so much. I can't even talk to my dad right now because all he wants to do is say awful things about her (the last 5 years or so of her life she turned into a demon between her fear of death and the medication she was on, plus dementia, I think) and I know that's part of HIS process, but I just can't cope. Stupid.

      @mietze It's okay to be human. What you're feeling is not bad or wrong. I mean, I know you know it, but I'm in your corner, lady. You aren't wrong. You aren't bad. It's not evil to feel that way. It isn't fucking fair, and it would be REALLY NICE if the universe would fucking take fairness into consideration. Stupid. I hate that, too.

      People are still posting to my mom's Facebook, more than a year after she died. 'I miss you!' and stuff. It really, really bothers me, and idk why, really. It's been turned into a memorial page or whatever FB does so I don't like, get notifications. I have to go look. And I do, and then it upsets me.

      Mostly I'm just an idiot.

      It does come with your name attached though, so be aware that you're giving that out. If you used your name originally, that is. I give mine out too, but it's good to know.

      When you make a post bitching about stupidity on Facebook and how complete idiocy (say, flat earth stuff) will get you unfriended...

      ...and then a family member comments with something utterly horrific levels of stupid on said post, and not just stupid but offensive...

      And you have to decide.

      Is this worth a family brawl? Is it?

    • RE: Tulpas or Roleplaying?

      @Cupcake said in Tulpas or Roleplaying?:

      Every now and again when discussing my characters with someone, I find myself slipping into first person. When I realize what I'm doing, I try to halt it immediately - I just feel it's embarrassing and the person's going to think I don't have a grasp on reality. So I try to make sure I focus on remaining third person when discussing my characters.

      I actually used to be a lot more fussy about this myself. Lots of tabletop gaming has made me less worried about first/third person in reference to my own PCs, because that's just how conversation flows. 'I can't believe you did that!' at the table isn't in any way implying that anybody thinks anyone is their character, or anything. Put through that lens, what used to worry/bother me on this line (oh noes, am I having separation issues?) doesn't really, any more.
