This made me think of you:
Well, I know I'm going to see it, though I dread what its representation of Cuban culture might be.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
One suggestion this now old man can make for the youngsters out there (I say this with a smile, I'm in my late 30's now but I had a kid before I was 18, lived all over the world, was in the military and consider myself successful in life with respect to position/pay and the like).
That suggestion is that when you make goals make sure they're realistic and don't try to do it all at once. Don't try to eat that whole pizza in one bite, break it up into slices that you consume with bites.
I read once this theory of 1%... If you strive for 1% improvement daily the results vs no progress when added up are mind blowing.
Just like in the military, with working out and getting in shape, we didn't do 5 mile runs on day 1, instead we worked up to it. Running for longer distances gradually while improving speed. As others have said here, to boost health being more active and "adding steps" through out the day is a real winner.
Morning walk/jog/bike then active through the day with another session of walk/jog/bike or whatever at night will bring HUGE gains, more so if you've been less than active
Good luck!

Hooray for new Diablo 3 season!
Hooray for addition of Nighrcrawler to the Marvel Omega PS4 roster and them giving him to me for free for being a VIP member!
Hooray Red Stripe
Hooray for beer.I don't know why I enjoy Marvel Omega on the PS4 so much but man I love that game. Night Crawler is pretty dope but Deadpool is still my #1 pick.

RE: Mostly Mage, Partially Descent Mux
@surreality said in The Descent MUX:
@Admiral As someone who notoriously hates Mage, I'd rather every game have Mage, and the mages be given 5x the XP as everyone else, than have that dude skeeving around being an abusive fuckhead on them.
Seriously. 5xXP Mage vs. that guy and that guy still loses.
And my take on mage is roughly: Mage is that kid with the huge trust fund, model good looks, super-genius IQ, and palatial home that mysteriously gets sent to public school to ass-fuck the grading curve along with everyone's girlfriend while driving the new Ferrari they got for their 16th birthday on the same day you finally managed to finish scraping together enough for an old junker you had to rebuild yourself and pulled it in the lot. I hate Mage.
New Mage isn't that bad and when put in a game with new vampires and werewolves they are less "badass".
Don't get me wrong, a smart player can still be great but the new system seems to make the playing field much more even. This allows smart players from all the splats to be great at what they do.

RE: [Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?

White people love to know they're part Native American. I don't know why, but they love it. It's at least one thing to say you have some blood and another to claim crazy bullshit, but even that gets irritating. I have mocked and unfriended idiot white girls who are 'super in touch with their minority status' but don't even belong to a tribe. Stop it. Just like I told my cousin to stop when she found out we qualified for stuff. Shut it. You're white as hell.
I think it's in part because we don't have any culture. Yes, arguably we do but it's not 'cool' so white people try to find other things to 'be'. Also, it seems to be a way to skirt racism. Look, I'm not racist, there's brown people in my ancestory.
I come off as very very white. Like clueless white suburban bitch, despite the fact that I've had experiences otherwise. So that's how most people treat me. It's less about what you are and more about how you're perceived. My half Irish half Sicilian best friend is often taken as Mexican, even by Mexicans, despite the fact she's white. She just has dark skin. @ThatOneDude is white to me, but he's not really likely considered so in the eyes of some. There's a lot of technically white people that white people don't consider white.
You only call me white because I'm well educated and successful! q.q
edit: And additionally... In Cali I'm just another hispanic that probably can't speak english and am probably illegal or a gangster of some sort and when I fly... Oh lord, even with TSA Pre I'm RANDOMLY SELECTED!

I don't actually know what Ark is.
Ark is a PVP survival game. With dinosaurs! You build bases, form
tribes with other players, tame dinosaurs, die a lot. Fun times. This is another game that is a guilty pleasure of mine. I love playing it but in a lot of ways it makes sense to me. Pvp is a blast even when or more so when there are those bully players that try to punk you on servers. It's great drive to get stronger to come back and give them a beat down.

RE: What locations do you want to RP in?
My answer to the original question on location would be "Anywhere where we're playing the game..." People can say all day you make your own fun, blah blah whateves but this is a game that requires story and more than one player. A lot of the games don't want to focus on that aspect which is fine. But I'd bet the metrics would show that's why they don't last.
Goals, story, conflict and the like are all things players mostly strive for (character growth, playing in the rules of the game, sessions, etc.).

RL Peeve: Dudes that run at the urinal next to me with their dick in their hand before they get to a point of privacy behind that divider that separates the urinals.

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?
The Coldfire Trilogy would make for an interesting world for a mush. I don't know how popular the series was but it's a series that's stuck with me since I read it long ago.

Th-that's a thing that happens? Humans are so strange...I didn't know it was a thing until yesterday, but, I have seen people do what @Luna said... Ohhhh, maybe they are the same type of person. Out at the cube the buckle is undone and in the space between the cube and toilet the button(s) / zipper is undone and BAM! Dick in hand pre-privacy barrier...
But I'm curious if this is actually worse than the dude that comes and takes up a place right next to you when there are 3+ other urinals open... More so when its the type without the privacy wall/pee shield.

RE: Base Code Question
@Apos said in Base Code Question:
@Lithium Personally, if I was trying to do the same thing, I probably would give evennia a try. I think python is a lot easier to learn than much more complicated soft code even though it's a hard code language, so if you are in the situation of like trying to adopt tinymush style lisp-like language or taking an evennia game out the box and customizing it in python, I think it'd be much less of a headache going with python. As I recall, evennia out the box already comes with a MUD like split of a player object vs the character object they are puppeting, so I don't think it would be so bad to go from that to leaving corpse objects on the ground that animate.
Agree. With what I've read and seen this would probably be your best bet for the type of game you're thinking of making. Python isn't that hard of a language and it gives you the added benefit of actually learning a language that can be used outside of just a small sub set of games that use a super out dated system.

@pixidusty What about checking out Edit -> Check Spelling
Uncheck "Check Spelling While Typing", you can then use command+; or command+: to check spelling/grammar.

RE: Games that are active overnight?
I'm going to guess you play a vampire? There are people but vampire seems to have a shit time getting along. Mage is a little rough cause some people are scared but really I play a lot at night and odd hours and I don't have too terrible of a time. There are people in Europe and Australia as well as a couple skeevy dudes I've seen lurking about on the late night (I swear I'm not one). I think the key is availability (being able to play when they play) and content (something interesting to do). There is ton's of people I could RP with but if we have nothing to RP about what's point?
