RE: Unlikeable, incompetent, and inactive: Can these characters work in an MU?
In my personal experience, the answer can be Yes to all of them. I have played more than my share of cranky curmudgeons that stay at home when the Hero's are getting their armor dented. Or those that go on (or are forced on (damned Ghoul lyfe)) adventures but are just THE WORST at things. I mean right now I'm planning a character that is just going to be awful at what he is 'supposed' to do.
As mentioned above, I think it comes down to portrayal and self awareness. You still have to be entertaining. It has to be IC, usually with a lot of snerking and giggling ooc.

RE: What the fuck happened to Hip-Hop?
Yeah I mean 'hip hop with a message' still exists. Logic, Hopsin, Donald Glover, the aforementioned Kendrick, Dead pres (okay older but still) even Drake from time to time, but man if I wanna get high and just groove? Gimme them Migos, and Rae Sremmurd, and Night Lovell, and Jazz Cartier... Sure sometimes the content isn't exactly original (Drugs pussy, guns) but the talent is real.

RE: Miami, Blood in the Water
Mummy, is very, incredibly unlikely to happen.
We are looking into adding other splats after launch, if we can allocate the resources for them, namely Promethean is a possibility, as well as Skinchangers and maybe others.
As for Mummy itself, I have yet to read or hear anything that makes me think they would mix well on a MU. This could be my ignorance and maybe down the line someone will convince me, but they will 100% not be there at launch.
We will have Mage and Geist if people are feeling OP.

RE: Unlikeable, incompetent, and inactive: Can these characters work in an MU?
@arkandel On one hand I agree with what you are saying.
On the other hand i think it's also partially the payers responsibility to have their character 'stay in their lane' based on stats. So If I'm playing a shitty peon that always fucks up, and i do it well, i might have a fuckton of RP partners, but they should still see them as 'bad for the job'. I mean unless I can make my Ghoul the Prince... or the power behind the throne... but then yer not actually playing an incompetent anymore. Incompetent people never reach the top. RIGHT?! See i'm starting to agree with you again.
But of course at the same time, it's really really hard to be 'but i have all the stats I should be the leader!' if you cant Rp yer way out of a wet paper bag and every time your PC show up people groan and leave.

@admiral said in What the fuck happened to Hip-Hop?:
@Wretched The talent is there. The message is there. People just ignore it for something they can dance to.
It's also one of those conversations that's kinda weird to me. 'Where is all the hip hop with a message?'
Where is all the Black Metal with a positive message?
Where is all the Industrial with a positive message?
Where is all the X-kinda music with a positive message?I have a lot of respect for Run DMC, but it also reminds me of the puritanical parents when I was growing up talking about the devil music. Sure a lot of Hip Hop these days (and since like NWA) 'glorifies' the street life, but it also holds up a mirror to it. I mean listening to songs about selling dope and capping fools has just about as much influence on me as Songs about Eating people, Shutting up and Swallowing, And Crack + Anal Sex. (tho to be fair, the last one, Leonard Cohen is my most Idolized musician ever)
Lets look at some Rock and Roll classics.
Welcome to the jungle we've got fun and games
We got everything you want honey, we know the names
We are the people that can find whatever you may need
If you got the money, honey we got your diseaseit's been a thing in music since like forever.
We also have mainstream artists like Macklamore rapping about gay love and the horrors of drug use and the cult of Nike.
Edit: AND ANOTHER THING: There's also a movement in hiphop artists this day addressing subjects like suicide and depression.

RE: Learning how to apply appropriate boundaries
@aerianyx I dunno if i have any advice, but this struck close to home. I tolerate a lot of shit, especially from 'friends' because i am adverse to burning bridges, or the thought i might hurt other people. Of course until it hit a line and then i switch it up by becoming salty and spiteful and all growley tooth gnashy. Especially when people are wrong on the internet. It's something that I have been working on myself. I mean sure this person might be my BFF, but telling them that their actions are bothering me... what if they suddenly hate me forever now OH GOD. Or suddenly a switch flicks in me and i forget they exist.

RE: What the fuck happened to Hip-Hop?
@admiral I'm not sure i agree. Not 100% at least.. hip hop has room for white artists, Eminem comes immediately to mind, as do the Beastie Boys. Macklamore hasn't attempted to co-opt black culture, he's come up pretty legit and he raps from his own experience. It's not like Elvis straight up stealing black music. There is a huge difference between the two. If anything, I imagine white artists have a hell of a time getting recognition in the hip hop community.

RE: What drew you to MU*?
Persistent world is a huge one. Free? That too. Also the anonymity. I cannot suspend my disbelief in a LARP, also I cant just be chilling alone at home in my underwear while I pretend to be a victim of faerie.

Start healthier diet with the wife, both of us determined to eat better, and now that summer is 'over' and the apartment complex pool is colder, we join the gym to continue the progress...

RE: Class/Society Systems, WoD
@derp With the xp system and the scope of the game, putting hard chargen limits on resources is unlikely to fly. Nor do i think players would be cool with itr (I know most times I have a business of any sort, players will come and get jobs for resource raises,) And I personally dislike chargen only limits for the most part, just because it inhibits growth. I like growth, i just prefer it to be slow.

How would Organized Crime and local Crime figures who present as upper class get represented? They are neither here nor there in either neighborhood.
Crime and such would be a faction separate from Social Class or neighborhoods, tho Gangs and other Orgs could be tied to certain neighborhoods. You dont have to be part of the 42nd Street Kings to be well respected in little Havana, but it might give you some clout when dealing with the gang in the area. Definately something to think on, how the various factions would interact with one another.
@bobotron said in Class/Society Systems, WoD:
A lot of this is represented in how Status is written up in the NWoD 1e core blue book. You buy it as Status (Thing), and it gives examples of dots representing clout in a way that I feel gets glossed over. I think it's a good starting point to work from.
Yesssss. We would really like for these things to matter, and if they become part of the base game, it might? maybe even a couple free dots of it in chargen. Maybe a few more freebies for mortals only.
@autumn @Lisse24 That is another conversation i am having with Sonder. It ties into one of the things that really gets to me, and that is people jumping certain stats all in one go. Strength takes time to build, so does learning how tyo be manipulative, or punch more gooder. HM's system I liked (After buying the stat you must wait X time before buying it again. I never like the 'spend it and wait for it to take effect)
Nothing is set in stone, but if we did do something like that we'd have to find the balance between onerous wait times and so quick we might as well not have it. We are aiming to have Xp as automated as possible, so in the best of worlds such timers would be automated as well. As for Justifications, some stats will always need it but most wont. That much shouldn't change
@kay said in Class/Society Systems, WoD:
Limiting it to four classes ("High Society, Middle Class, Poor, Homeless") seems limited. Maybe offer sub classes/speciality for each flavor? High Society = Old Money, Noveau Riche, Celebrity? Middle Class = Upper Middle Class, Solid Middle Class, Lower Middle Class. Poor = Working Class, Slum Dweller, Almost Homeless? Homeless = Hobo, Addict, Destitute?
That might be a bit more than we would like to have, I'd like it to have some depth but not so over complicated we lose the forest for the trees. Probably n ot sub classes but many of these would be 'good examples of what fits in each.'
New Goal: Exactly how large and what specific bonuses one gets based on each. How they interact with others. More reading to do. I love all this feedback.,

RE: NPC Roster
@ZombieGenesis That sounds amazing, would you mind if we potentially borrowed that idea? That sounds kind of cool, like a player could post some NPC's on thier wiki with a little backstory that friends and ST's could potentially run.
Looking for someone to play my Fetch on Occasion, this is who he is now.
Way back in the early 00's late 90's my friends and I would... and i cant believe i'm saying this publicly, basically go and do a 4 person larp down town while shopping and getting food, where we just randomly switch ST's, doing nonsense overpowered Sabatt shenanigans. Was a lotta fun.
