UPDATE: Things are still chugging away, slow and steady. We are pouring over all the news files and the like from FC and rewriting and going over every detail we can. We don't want this game to be TR/FC with yet another new skin, but a game built with a solid foundation that we can enjoy for years to come.

Basic Info: Miami Florida (Earth 23154) it is the thriving tourist metropolis that exists in this world today... and a whole lot more. 5 years ago, an event happened, a disaster, an earthquake/storm that scientist still struggle to explain and most rational discussion has been drowned out in buzzwords like 'New Fault line' and 'Bomb Cyclone' and 'End of Days', except it wasn't, and well, it passed and time moved on and the city recovered and rebounded.

Now, 5 years post-event, things are back to normal, even if for some people it is a new normal. Most of the outlying cities to the west got flooded, and nature has come back with a vengeance (faster than nature alone should wriggles story fingers) making the Swamp and everglades so very much closer to the city itself., and one part of the city still does not have lights (more story finger wriggling) but for many Miami folks, life is back to normal (OR IS IT?!)

We will have most the spheres that FC had, Minus Promethean.

Changeling Preview: As many people know, the Miami Freehold is featured in many of the Changeling books, The events in those books (Summer ruled all year with no crown changes) are more or less canon and come to a head a number of years ago. Now there is a new freehold in town. The Founders being Sun and Moon respectively, and now, the laws and crowns change every 12 hours, power being handed back and forth, one crown for the Day, and the other for the Night. The laws of the Day and the laws of the Night are different. Pc's may be of any Court (Seasonal, Dawn, Dusk, Sun, Moon, ((Possibly Directional I have not made up my mind))) But each member of the freehold aligns themselves to either the Day or Night Factions (With minor mantle effects, so a Spring aligned with Day and a Spring aligned with night will have different effects)). New Crowns will be dealt with through direct challenges with a cooldown period, rather than every 3 months like clockwork. Meanwhile there is a large (mostly NPC) faction of Old Guard Summer, still bitter about the change, and various other problems plaguing the community. Like hedge gates not closing all the way.

A looong time ago I met a girl on a MU, turns out her Aunt lived 2 blocks away from my grandparents. So we met up, and we had a thing for a while, not entirely official but I had FEELINGS and many a nice vacation up in the boonies. A lot of very fond memories.

So I play a lotta GW2 and keep on on their reddit off an on. The Gaming Website Articles about the incident and what people talk about on the forums are so very different.

The Articles on Polygon and whatnot are very pitchfork-y

Price has allegedly been fired from other companies for similar behavior, and seems to as @Auspice mentioned, go off like this from time to time.

It seems to me (A mostly CiS White Male) that this might be the case of someone using the current social justice movements to give herself power and allies after she fucked up. Considering her history we also dont know how many other straws that were laid on the camels back before this one that broke it.

Also: She works at a video game company writing stories. Every game developer in the history of developing plots for the game, male or female, since the internet and likely before, has had people thinking they could do it better, and vocally explaining how it's done. So the 'If i was a male this wouldn't have happened' is, In this case i feel, grasping at straws.

I like the way the word sounds. And I've always had an affinity for the filth, for a certain desperate grit, beauty in trash. Clean high magical fantasy was always my antithesis. Also it was the name of an old Morrowind save file of mine back in the early 00's and it stuck in my head.

The people running the game should be clear about just how much their alternate reality deviates from the real one. The people playing the game should also keep that in mind. Since the WoD however is set in a modern analouge of our world, it's really easy to forget the differences.

@thatguythere Yup! That is my experience as well, but that's more a problem with mu culture than the system. I totally fall into the same habits. 'hey i'm pretty alright' interacts with other people 'never mind I am mediocre' Which kinda makes me miss justifications. Keeping up with the Immortal joneses is a thing.

Also a 'too much xp' problem. With less xp, the guy with all 5's in combat is still amazing at combat, but he cant tie his shoes without help, and I support this. Where the person who spreads it out is still competent, but more rounded.

Or maybe some boldly written guidelines would be a good idea. 'Were not gonna police you or make you justify all your stats but if you have a 5 in underwater basket weaving, then that is something you dedicate your life to and people notice it'

On FH actually if you pick a high tier, you must also either buy fame or inconspicuous merits to reflect these things.

I also think that old skills you don't use anymore are still part of your character and should be on your sheet. Sure I'm a Stage Manager on Broadway now, and all my xp is into this but i have high survival because at one point in my life i used to be a park ranger' That shit should be kept, not washed away to minmax better.

@auspice Pedant Face: Well yes, because 1 is a success and 5 is an exceptional, just 1-4 successes by the rules of the game are equal.

I don't really agree with this, i think gamer min max culture has more to do with it seeming like it's like that than it is.

A single success is a success. A skill at 3 is 'you are a professional in this skill' an attribute at 3 is you are /good/ in that area. Dex 3 int 3 medicine 3 is a damned good doctor, add bonuses for tools and operating rooms and whatever, you are almost guaranteed a success MOST of the time.

The way it tends to work on MUs however is 'Damnit i don't have 5's in every trait and 45 dice in this area and i wont get an average of 7 successes every time.. GOD I SUCK.

Edit:My point being is there is plenty of room to have many skills if you dont insist on being 'the very best surgeon on the planet here in this podunk towns hospital' Not being Stephen hawking doesn't make you a terrible scientist, etc./

@ganymede I largely agree with this but would add an exception or two.. Goblin markets and perhaps occasional cases of 'My character was a total nerd but has since abandoned that life to become a dance painter (imagine ballet with brushes on your toes) and not using my smarts these days I am rusty, please let me refund a single point of academics for the xp back so i may spend it elsewhere.
