@lordbelh I had the opposite problem. I knew exactly how much I wanted more GoT yet now I'm more hyped than before.

RE: Shadowrun Denver & New Plot
@Jennkryst No, I suppose I see it, I just come from a long streak of games where people can play anything thematically possible within their world, from CEOs/House Heads to criminals, doctors, police officers, drug addicts... anything. The idea of being so restricted is a bit alien to me.

RE: Shadowrun Denver & New Plot
@faraday That's one of my frequent questions for games like D&D as well. What do characters get to do when they're not adventurers? The entire game's mechanics are geared towards quest, get items, level up, repeat.

RE: RL Anger
@Misadventure Yeah, the job market obeys the law of supply and demand... unless employees don't force it to. Then it still does, but only one-sidedly.
Of course there are always other factors like contracts, city jobs, etc where you have little personal negotiating power.

RE: Looking for a NWoD Mage Game
@Derp @EmmahSue is a terrible person who didn't like my idea for a Mage game. You can blame her for all things.

@Warma-Sheen I had the biggest crush on Lori Loughlin when I was a kid. Oooh, and the chick from SeaQuest.

RE: Someone make a damn CofD/Storytelling 2 game worth playing, kthx
@Ganymede Agreed, stolen work violates a core tenet of our community's structure.
We're all volunteers, and the agreement is people do things for free for each other for as long as they want to. Taking that for one's own without permission - if it's what happened here - would be unethical and cheap even by our very low-set bar for such things.

RE: Good TV
How and why had I not watched Penny Dreadful past the first two episodes before? It's so, so good.

@Vorpal I'm of two minds about Greece.

We've had horrible politicians for years (but who hasn't?) who borrowed money heavily knowing full well by the time those loans came due they'd be well into retirement/dead. So 2-3 decades of easy spending, bailing out of private companies, systemic corruption and cushy pensions came crushing when payments had to be actually made. The EU knew all of this all along but they just kept the money flowing since it looked good for their careers at the time. Of course all that cash went to a relatively small minority's pockets.
So when this all happened, people who were working their asses off their whole lives suddenly started being accused of being lazy free-loaders. Unemployment, even the official type - the real figure is far higher - is just under 25%, the brain drain is enormous since all the educated graduates flee as fast as they can. A few years ago I found my salary dropped by half overnight, which is a very hard thing to see; I have friends with mortgages who still have to pay the initial amounts or lose their homes. The damage is immense, and there's no real salvation anywhere in sight; the entire country looks like the Titanic after it started sinking, it's quite likely nothing can actually stop bankruptcy for now. -
We elected all those politicians. Other politicians warned us over the years and we didn't vote for them because they were saying unpleasant things. And even now we keep electing whoever makes the most ridiculous promises, then turn on them in favor of the next-in-line party to make the same ridiculous promises, and so on.
Meh.

@Vorpal I bet my country of origin can give your country of origin a run for the money it doesn't have.

RE: Book suggestions
I just finished the Magician trilogy by Lev Grossman. Man, those books were so good.
There's a TV series out which I also like but it's only very loosely based on the novels. However the original material was excellent - I had read the first installment a few years ago before the sequels were completed yet and then neglected to get back into it.
Especially for nWoD* Mage fans it's a must-read. It hits all the right notes - from the hybris to the wonder, magicians in the series often command vast power and they are sitll unhappy, flawed beings residing in a universe whos workings they can tap into but can barely understand. There are always bigger powers around who can reach out and very brutally extinguish or torment them and the author manages to juggle character growth (Quinton's evolution is quite remarkable) and plot threads bringing them together in unexpected ways.
I really liked this stuff. Read it!
