I do really enjoy the multiplayer though, it is fun. I haven't run into many bugs with clipping or things like that personally. The only thing that's really bugged me was the latency on some multiplayer games, not able to see the host's ping sucks so bad.

RE: Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread
I always create my own face... though I was a bit put off by the lack of eye. mouth, and nose options it makes it very hard to really customize into someone I really like.

RE: General Video Game Thread
I've been enjoying ME:A a lot, I've only had one glitch, when I was returning to the Nexus it said that the game had been tampered with and crashed, but then loaded up fine.
Otherwise, it's been a ton of fun, I am enjoying the pacing and the multiplayer a LOT.

RE: General Video Game Thread
So EverQuest is now 18 years old... makes me feel even older, but they're coming out with a new progression server that is /stopping/ at my favorite expansion (Lost Dungeons of Norrath)...
So this is pretty cool to me, really looking forwards to the new server and getting my nostalgia on.
Only problem is I have work, etc, so not enough time to really get involved in a raid guild or anything.

RE: Hobby Glossary
It definitely came up on AmberMUSH first time I heard it back in '92, but it wasn't because of the guys name as far as I know, just the pose/page went 'Maverick' as in the definition of the word: an unorthodox or independent-minded person. It was then shortened to Mav. It went independent and not where intended.
I could be wrong but that's what I remember.

RE: Dungeons and Dragons
This kind of makes me miss Treyvan. It had it's problems down the road but it was a lot of fun for a long while.

RE: Where's your RP at?
@faraday The character loss being to much of an investment is dependent on how hard it is to get into the game.
If it's a trial to even GET on the grid, then yeah, character loss sucks hard.
If it's /easy/ to get on the game, then Character Loss can (and should imho) be an important part of a post apocalyptic setting.

RE: Where's your RP at?
@Monogram There's a number of Hero games, but a majority of them use either pure consent, or a rule system that I don't really like... or are FC focused to where OC's have no place.
There are a few outliers but they are generally small or not really active unfortunately.

RE: Where's your RP at?
Nowhere really. I am so burnt on anything XofDarkness and my work makes it difficult to get involved in things.

RE: Deep Shadows - Shadowrun 5th Edition MUSH - Help Wanted
If this were Rhost or TinyMUX I would help with code...
Don't know diddly about Python though so good luck.

RE: Web-based MU poll
@Arkandel It'd still allow connectivity to current MU*'s via webpage which would be awesome for me anyways.
I don't know how you'd do a web based MUX but I'm all for it if it turns out to be accessible.

RE: NO-GO IPs for MU*
@Catsmeow It's not that hard, just a humongous amount of data entry really.

RE: Web-based MU poll
I remember at one point there was some code floating around on how to make a telnet window inside a webpage but I never managed to get it to work. Wonder if that code is laying around somewhere and one of our psycho-coders might be able to get it working. Would love to throw it up so I could MU* from work again.

RE: NO-GO IPs for MU*
@Kairos I know one had to have all automated character creation removed, but that was mid 90's. There was another afterwards that did automated character creation and got away with it so I think he's gotten more lax as I said above.

RE: All Original Supers Game
@Kairos I've seen a couple games using the full Palladium system for their games and it's always a mixed bag, I would like to see it with Heroes Unlimited though, would be fun especially if people used random roll character creation.

RE: Resident Evil: Redefined
This needs a necro bump.
The game is pretty detailed, the people are pretty cool, xp bloat is a thing but really less important since the rules limit how many times a person may act to begin with and there's plenty of room for everyone to shine or die since the PC's are typically outnumbered, or big bads are /big fucking bads/ and no single person is going to win against them anyways.
Lots of nice folk and it's interesting to see how they've melded the movies and the games together. Currently they're at the start of Resident Evil 3 as far as timeline goes iirc. Also pretty active and there are ways to advance without having to get into every plot scene.

RE: DC Rebirth
I tried this, and it seemed ok with decent folks in general but doesn't work for my time frames... but most games don't anymore to be completely honest.

RE: All Original Supers Game
@Ghost The problem with Mutants & Masterminds is it is easily broken imho. To much is covered by Afflictions and certain Feats can just destroy the power scale (ie. Brick types taking all out attack feats that give them great chance to hit while reducing defense, which they don't really care about because their main defense is just soaking damage anyways).
M&M looks great at first blush but the holes are pretty easy to spot and abuse imho.
Not that familiar with MWP but I haven't enjoyed any of them since the FASERIP set of rules back in the 80's. The system for MSHRPG with the d12 through d4 system is pretty neat but the only book I saw of that was more focused on playing FC's and there wasn't any reasonable rules for OC's that I found.

RE: NO-GO IPs for MU*
I know there was contact by Siembieda towards various Palladium games in the past, anything that automated anything and reduced the need for the game books was pretty much a no go back in the mid 90's. I've seen games get away with it more recently though so it might be something he doesn't consider a threat now or simply so niche as to not be a concern to him anymore.
I also recall a game having to use pure OGL d20 for a 3.0 D&D game due to cease and desist type stuff but I wasn't staff there so don't know if that was just a precautionary choice or something that they were told they had to do.
