@akurel I never got very far in Xcom 2. RNG was my hated enemy. No amount of savescumming could save the earth.

RE: Xcom thoughts
I think the incentive would be a hassle free cg. XCOM has a tradition of giving me crappy soldiers, so if someone showed up with all their points in flower arranging, they'd be about as good a shot as my current sniper.

Sounds interesting, but I'm wondering what grid RP would be. Would the whole game take place in a base?
Yeah, the grid would be the base. Possibly with locations/safehouses inside of friendly territories, but those might work better as plot rooms, or using the scene system for missions.

Xcom thoughts
Starting a new thread to stop hijacking another one.
@three-eyed-crow MY lazy assed feelings are terror attack PrPs whenever people feel like it, with scheduled fuckery by Advent and Gross Xenos. I think the real challenge would be statting Mutons and Sectoids in the right way.

I kind of want to do an XCOM mush today. I hope Ares drops soon.
I hope you'll have policies to account for meatgrinder levels of character turnover and death.
The only way to survive a mission will be to have hawt ts with admin.
Also, my admin name will be RNG.

It's a fun one to compstomp in, I didn't really enjoy the campaign, it never really let me do my thing, it kept interrupting with little events and pulling the camera from what I was in the middle of doing.

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag is Free through Uplay right now.
The best part about that game is the singing while sailing bit. And singing while watching the english and spanish sinking hundreds of ships while you just mosey along.

RE: Do you buy your RPG books?
I try to get hard copy when I can, (GURPS is finally reprinting stuff--no more $300 supplements on Amazon!!).
I try to get my hard copies from the local game store, but if it isn't there, I'll get it from the publisher's site or amazon.
PDFs are okay in a pinch, but I do get screen fatigue looking at them, and flipping > scrolling, no matter what ctrl-f has to say about things. I'm sad that most printing services in my area are more expensive than buying a hardbound copy off the bat, and drive through rpgs print on demand shipping to canada is fucking insane.

@tinuviel yeah, he's the one with the magic hat that only he was allowed to look into!
More recently, there's the dude that people pay to stare at them. While curious, I don't think it has the fun pizzazz of some of the other groups lurking around.

LRH isn’t even as interesting as Jim Jones or any of the LDS church fathers or branch offs
You gotta give him credit though. Anyone who looks so much like a fraudster, and had openly talked about starting a religion to avoid taxes and then pulls it off is doing something right.

Because I am a mechanics fan, I'd look for something where something about the stressors of the police life and the corrupt life have something to them.
I kind of love this, even though I was reading the how much code is too much code thread thinking this idea might suck, I think it would be cool to have a stress meter for the cops, where because of their macho nature, they have to break the law to reset a counter, and hope they don't get caught! Like, it ticks up one point per day until they have a coke binge, which pauses it, but when the binge is over, it ticks up two a day until they do something really over the top like, plant drugs on a school kid and burn his house down during the arrest.
The revolutionaries could have something like this, too, like a Commie meter. In order to bring it down, they have to work in the community soup kitchen or something to wash their hands of making money by dealing drugs.
If the meters get too high, they start taking penalties to their rolls.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Someone mentioned their new phone was arriving today.
I asked, "Are you excited? Can you not just hide it? Are you going to lose control? Do you think you like it?"

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
In the grown up stuff category, I just outed myself as old by referencing the Pointer Sisters, and getting a room full of blank wondering stares.

Honestly, for as popular as nWoD is, sometimes it drives me insane as a MU*. I get so sick of having to reference websites/PDFs to remember all the different dice pools.
As a filthy casual, this has been a huge barrier to me getting into WoD. There's so many goddamned splat books.

I adore Shadowrun tabletop. Even if it were fully coded, I would absolutely dread playing that system on a MU.
Mushing shadowruns is kind of painful, yes. I like Denver, but the system takes forever to work through. I mostly blame the initiative mechanic which can have people posing four times a round while other players are waiting an hour for their turn. I wonder if a simplified version like what they use in Dragonfall or Hong Kong would work well on a mush?
