      @Derp

Defensive too, I see. It’s funny ribbing when you do it to friends. It’s just weird and rude to step on someone trying to comfort someone else by putting emphasis on part of it to make it seem bad. I mean, you do you, but I was trying to be nice to someone dealing with an actual issue, and you wandered by and spit on us. And you freak out because I dared point out it’s rude? Ok...

ETA: Also, one does not have to be upset to say something about something, and your assumption that I am upset because I pointed out your rudeness is also problematic.

Trying to price the things I make. Knowing there's got to be a balance between the sheer joy of someone wearing my work and charging enough money for each piece, and having it completely escape me and hating that I'm some how devaluing my art and making my craft completely unsustainable at this rate. Hate everything today. I love myself more than this but not making it work today.

Tomorrow is another day, with no mistakes in it yet.

      Listen to your gut.

If it’s wrong, yes, you miss out on a single person out of eleventy billion.

If it’s right and you DON’T listen, the consequences are more dire.

If the choice is only going to impact you and who you spend time with, please please just listen to your gut. You could be wrong. It’s okay to be wrong and err on the side of safe.

      I feel useless and worthless.

Your worth is not defined by your job.

Repeating this because it is so important that it NEEDS repeating yet another few times. Your worth is not defined by your job.

Your feelings are valid; in our current culture we are indoctrinated from a very small age to link what we physically produce to our value and self-worth, and while it's all complete bullshit (your worth is not defined by your job, you are a wonderful human being who is delightful, creative, funny, and INCREDIBLY compassionate who is good at helping other people learn to be compassionate) it's also dang near a heroic feat to break that conditioning.

If you can, cut yourself some slack. If you can't, just know that the people around you feel very strongly that you have value.

    • RE: The Game Game

That isn't to say that it hasn't been looked at this way in the past; I was cautioned against creating Ashes because it would be competing with GraniteMUSH, and there was at least one game out there that you had to "certify" that you weren't playing on a different game to play there, so these things DID happen.

They just weren't done by the reasonable game runners who contribute quality things to the hobby.

    • RE: The Game Game

The only time I really see a consistent use of 'competition' in the hobby in terms of these games is in problematic game runners. It's used as an excuse as to why their game is failing (this came up often with Serenity games), or when they are trying to ensure they are the only game in town (literally, in terms of Game of Thrones). It's an excuse bad game leadership makes when their game cannot stand on its own merits, and they need something to blame for their failure that isn't them.

Two games in the same genre aren't competition. People play multiple games, and someone's interest/investment in one can actually charge their batteries up to play on more. I guess maybe it's counter-intuitive, here -- the more fun people are having, the more fun they are likely to spread? So more than one game within a genre is absolutely, 100%, a positive gain for the other games within the genre.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

ETA: Wait, probably missing context for blocking, whups.

I imagine she just thought ‘I have @SinCerely so I don’t need to-‘ wasn’t appropriately helpful commentary, since she is being stingy and not cloning you so we can all have one.

I hate that I have such an impossible time asking for help and it makes me resentful of people who have an easier time of asking, so they get what they need. I despise being resentful of other people when the actual issue is my own damn pride and I know it and it STILL HAPPENS. Stupid feels.

My mom is out of town right now, but she travels a lot for work and uses this app that has her meet other travel alone people for eating in restaurants not alone, I will try and remember to ask her what it’s called. Google is not helping. She says it’s mostly been a positive experience for her.

That part of me that gets mad when people are talking about their end of the world problems that seem petty and stupid to me in comparison to what is on my plate. It isn’t a competition. I win nothing by being the biggest failure/pain feeler. And yet it is so. Damn. Grating. to listen to. I am myself a huge proponent of ‘if the worst pain you have ever felt is a hangnail, that hangnail is TERRIBLE’ school of thought in my daily life, so my brain is just outright being an asshole.

Country roads are infrastructure. I guarantee you the country roads in Alabama tilt different and have a different physical makeup than those in Montana.
