@dontpanda You might just be insane.

I wouldn't go that far, but i kind of also agree with him. I do not give games any more info then they need and wouldn't give a game access to things like that. But I also stopped playing new video games when the whole you must be on-line to play things started.
I basically use the same standards for giving information to a computer program that I would in giving that information to a total stranger. Does this person/program need this info to perform their primary function in my life. If the answer is no they don't get it. For example I have lied for decades to the check out people at various stores when they ask for an e-mail address. (My answer always is I don't have one, when I actually do but that is the most polite way to dodge giving it to them.)

      One thing I would add.
Know which parts of your vision for the game you are willing to compromise on.
No game will get started and run on the work of one person alone, you will need a team to work with.
While ideally you and your team will agree on the most important issues there will be places where opinions clash. The game you get will not be entirely your own vision and that is alright.
While there are likely aspects you do not want to compromise to keep the core of what game you want intact and don't be afraid to have line drawn where things will not go, but also be open to the input and views of those helping you as well. Discerning which parts belong on which side of that fence is an essential early step.

Alright in an effort to avoid further name calling and guide things back, what about the name change made the concept you wanted to play, (I can only assume you wanted to play since you apped) into one you didn't want to play?
I can see not taking Thanatos as a shadow name becuase that is utterly cliche', but there are obviously plenty of other options.

I have a question and I know this might get a whole can of worms started but I will ask it anyway.
Swaggy said that the changes asked were ones that "castrated the concepts" but one of the example used was the shadow name thing, yeah I agree that the not using a verb for a name thing is bizarre but how does that really change the concept? I mean yes names can tie into to and hint at deeper things but even without that if the name was the only objection change it grumble to yourself and play on. In that example neither the concept or the mechanical stats would be changed.

Ok close but not the same, Burglary, and Possession of stolen good so similar.
Mine was based on the Denis Leary character from the movie The Ref.

I too have played an ex-con werewolf, like Coin's he was a only wolf-blooded while in prison, though to be a bit different he went through the first change in play.

So did mine. Not that different. 😉

Ah well, though this is a nice lesson on why I don't assume character plagiarism with out real evidence since two different people can come up with very similar concepts from reading the same source material.
I hesitate to ask the crime for fear they were complete clones.

I am not saying it is a uninteresting concept, but it is far from unique on the game which was fairly small where I was my ex-con blooded there was at least one other wolf with a record and a couple other with criminal ties.
The loner ex-con looking for a fresh start is a pretty common fictional trope and one that leads itself to being a new wolf in the area I doubt there is a were sphere around without a coupe of them.
You are totally right that they are some places that place very low and arbitrary limits on c-gen combat stats. For example there was a game that had a limit of 6 dice to any combat pool.

Oh I agree I would never call he a good staffer, but she was very good at that one (in my opinion important) skill.
Granted I did not deal with her a whole lot, as it is my general policy to avoid dealing with staff when possible but my interaction with her while never crossing the line to pleasant were always short and painless, and when the answer to something was no, (which was most of the time) it was always delivered in a manner that was definitely final and delivered in a manner that seemed reasoned and impersonal.
I definitely prefer that to the folks that say no with no reason or those that insist on talking the matter to death while saying no.
It would be the only part of her staff behavior I would ever suggest anyone emulate however.

Oddly enough the staffer who I thought told No the best was a female staffer. Treason. Granted said staffer had plenty of other issues but was very good at giving a firm and reasoned no.

. The art of knowing when to say No is very important.

Not only the art of knowing when to say no but also the art of knowing how to say no, is likely the most important quality to have in a staffer.

I so agree with this, it is the reason exactly two people I work with have my cell phone number, it is a small company and i know those two would only call if it is actually important, (and well they are the two with the power to fire me.) any one else or other less important issues, it can wait til the next morning I get in.

But will there be shocking racism?!

I've seen way more hideous crime on MU* (murders, disembowelments, ritual sacrifice, mind control, you name it) than I've seen common real life douchebaggery. No one minds playing a vicious serial killer but they won't play a racist white supremacist or wife beater.

It probably means something but I don't pretend to know what.

My guess is that we like our horror to be things that are safely in the real of the unreal. Yes serial killers exist but they personally impact the lives of very few of people. Where the racist and the wife beater are present everywhere, either someone has experienced it or they know someone personally who has.

. I've experienced no God Machine stuff at Fallcoast either. Infact it's rare I see a game that includes it these days. Where /are/ you seeing it? Cause I'm into that shit...

Fallcoast is first edition not second so there is no God Machine to be present.
I know the original RfK has plots that dealt with God Machine stuff, I think Eldritch likely did cause it had demons, though I never played there so that is quesswork on my part.

Multiple isn't just 'more than three'. 2 or 3 are still 'multiple'.

Technically correct but when people complain about folks with multiple alts it is not the dude/dudette that has 2 or three is the the folks with a half dozen that are the targets.
I mentioned more then three cause that is the point where I start to put folks at arms length not as some universal definition.

taking the uncool actions of a few and generalizing about everyone else as though playing more than one character on a game is going to guarantee they're going to lack focus, lack investment, try to take over every sphere on the game with a clique, and suck up more staff time than someone with one.

20 years of experience has taught me every one of these assumptions is faulty, and are inappropriate to sling at people who just like to play differently than you do.

And my 20 years, (Aww hell we are pulling out experience as a measurement stick so to be precise my 22 years 5 months) has shown me that people with multiple alts are more likely to drop without notice then those with one to three. Is this a universal thing not at all never said it was but when it comes to tying my character closely to other characters I have learned it is a sign to avoid a close tie. It is called playing the odds, though i am also in favor of alt policies that allow people to alt til their hearts are content. I fully respect their way of playing but will also choose to not get into plots or character defining rp with them.
If this counts to you as an uncool action, well I ain't never been one of the cool kids and likely never will be.

I know you can play for free but I think it costs to run a game, so essentially similar to a MU in that regard when you figure in server costs.
I looked at it when it first launched and the mechanics for it seemed off, very narrative which is not my tastes at all.

There we will have to disagree, there is no team I enjoy watching more then the Spurs and their absolutely beautiful ball movement and his passing (which is damn good, and absolutely amazing for a center) was a big part of that.
