    • RE: Logging your activity

@Sparks said in Logging your activity:

I log everything, at least for my own use. Because 11 months later I'm like, "Wait, who told me about that thing ICly?" and I go back and look in logs.

This is actually a bit of a peeve of mine--so many characters having photographic memories. A little while back, I was having an IC conversation with someone, and we were chatting about an event we had participated in. The other player seemed to have an issue with just having a little reminiscing scene and went and pulled the log, then started quoting things verbatim, and it really killed the mood. It was like talking in person with someone and they keep going to their phone to fact check everything you say on the spot.

Logging for PrPs to get your xp is cool, or if there's an issue of harassment and you need proof, but the obsessive need to ICly get everything exactly correct is annoying to me.

I've always thought about setting up a short story website and have a little patreon button if people feel like chipping in. I'd probably just fill it with NPCs and setting information that I use for my tabletop game, though.

I was in the beta(or super early FTP release, I forget which), too, but got to the grinding hell of the mid level 20s. That saved me from the game. I've heard they fixed that stretch of the game, but the endless wind sprint fetch quests of the middle of the game really left a bad taste in my mouth.

The first 20 levels was fantastic, though, I'm tempted to jump back in and take another swing at it.

This last week I've picked up the Prophesy of Pendor mod for Mount & Blade. It's good. So good that I swear I was just going to sit down and play a bit over my breakfast smoothie, and then all of a sudden it's three hours past dinner time and all I can hear is heroic music and people screaming, even after turning this game off. Good times, I think Caliph Hamid wants to marry me.

    • RE: Roleplaying writing styles

If I'm playing with one or two people, I can go off the deep end with engaging, setting filled poses. Once there are three others, I find myself being less and less inclined to put in effort as the wait for pose order gets excruciating, and I'll go from almost ten line poses to maybe 2 or 3.

Unless I'm running a plot, I really don't like scenes with more than 3 players involved, and if I'm running a plot, I prefer under five.

    • RE: SW: Rifts

@TNP cool, that looks promising. I'll have to learn fate a bit better, I started a starwars fate character then got bogged down trying to think up stunts that weren't too twinky.

My savage worlds rifts books finally arrived from the kickstarter and I want to get my rift on. Anyone know of any active rifts games out there? Ideally running savage worlds.

Gotta say, B.J. Blazkowicz is a badass. The OSA sends him to defend a stolen tank during an attack on a nazi base and all he brings is two pistols. Legendary.

@GangOfDolls With mine I've found I have to be really scrupulous about following the instructions to turn it every few weeks. I forgot for six months or so and one side now has a permadivot. The other side is still good as new after 10 years.

Yeah, what is it about telling people you have bedtime in an hour that makes them go completely off the rails and want to GET STUFF DONE NOW GODDAMNIT!?

Like, instead of idling all week, could we maybe do bite sized chunks every few days?

I think it started in the rpgs, which were then used as bibles for the novels.

@ThatGuyThere said in Star Wars: Insurgency:

For me I think one main planet is the way to go. Let space be a plot thing, in my experience on past SW games but nothing killed my desire to play at a place more then spending an hour RL navigating H space or waiting on automated transports just to get to where the RP was.

Oh god, space code on a mush. WHY!?! I appreciate that programmers like to program, but they're all so spammy.

@Bobotron Agreed. I feel that at most a SW game should focus on a sector. Crisscrossing the galaxy to hit the bar or shop for different gear is silly.

I'm on board with the one world thing. You can agitate and recruit like everyone's talking about, and sabotage the means of production, but most of the big time rebel actions should be taking place off planet, most likely in other sectors or nav points in the system, but I like the idea of focusing on one planet quite a bit. I've enjoyed a couple of weeks on Dawn of Defiance, but nobody's ever on the planet I'm on, and I don't have a ship, so I'm shopping for a new game atm.

I finally finished Dishonoured. Teleporting is super fun but OP, but I loved the art style and setting. As far as murder-sims go, it's just behind Shadow of Mordor for me.
